The Council invited schools to sign up to the One Tree Per Child program, which encourages Grade 3 students within Greater Dandenong to plant at least one tree before they leave school.
Grade 3 students from 15 schools from across the municipality will be attending the event, resulting in 1000 trees being planted on the day.

■ Monash Council has a $400,000 hotel bill each year to accommodate its staff working from the Ibis Hotel building.
Council CEO Andi Diamond confirmed that the City of Monash has been paying a bill to the hotel for more than a decade, because its own building is overcrowded.
