Impounded at Albert Park
■ Police have impounded a car after the driver was caught more than double the speed limit in Albert Park.
Officers first spotted the Toyota 86, travelling in convoy with other modified vehicles, along Beaconsfield Parade about 10pm on Friday (May 19).
The driver accelerated heavily and was detected travelling 125-kmh in the 60-kmh zone while also weaving through three north bound lanes.
After Police intercepted the vehicle, officers were shocked to find that three of the four wheels were missing wheel nuts.
The car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $896.
It is expected the 26-yearold Carlton man will be charged on summons in relation to driving at a speed dangerous, manner dangerous and driving a vehicle that does not meet standards of registration.
