The Boat Hall at Hordamuseet Hordamuseet has one of Norway's largest collection of ancient wooden boats from when oars and sails were used for traction. The two oldest date from late 1700 and early 1800's. The boat hall is airconditioned to provide the best possible storage conditions. The exhibition will have a strong emphasis on how building and use of the boat are inseparable. What knowledge was needed. Why does these boats look like they are? In addition to the actual boats, there will be photos, video, audio (interactive stations) to depict boat traditions. Hordamuseet have good cooperation with Oselvarverkstaden and boat builders from the workshop will through the year build boats in the hall. The museum has great success with dissemination founded on practical activities, where students can take part in many things related to life in the old days. The Boat Hall was opened 16/3-2013. Contribution: NOK 5.500.000
