Sign Your Work – Adding a Digital Signature To Your Photographs by Giles Christopher - Media Wisdom

A popular trend these days is to sign your images when posting online. The thought is to treat the image more like it was being shown in a gallery. The process is really pretty easy to do. Iʼd also like to state that this is a much more attractive way to watermark a photo for copyright. Hereʼs the process for Photoshop Users

1.

Sign your name… take your time and give it a few tries. If youʼre using pen and paper, go with a thicker felt tip pen or marker or try a heavy pencil. If using a tablet, that works too. Be sure to create a nice large signature so youʼll have plenty of pixels to work with. (approx 4 to 8 cm long )

2. Scan or digitally capture the signature at a very high resolution. Youʼre likely adding this to high-resolution imagery, so better to start large and scale down (instead of up).

3. Clean up your signature with a Levels adjustment to make the whites and blacks crisp. 4. Save your file. Black on White as a JPG, PNG or GIF - no more than 1200 pixels wide 5. With the file open. In the <Edit> photoshop menu. click on define brush preset (fig.1). and a pop up will appear like this (fig.2) - save and your name-signatue

6. Now open the image you want to place the signature on.. then go to the brush icon - scroll down your brush list until you find your signature..

7. Change the brush colour and size (bracket Keys) and click on the area

Type to enter text

8. Now mouse click in the corner of the image to print the signature ( play with opacity and double click for bolder)

There you have it 驶 A Signed Photo始 - remember to save an unsigned version too
