Grant became a household name as part of BBC1’s That’s Life! and blends formidable songwriting skills with a sparkling sense of humour. Medway Folk Cellar presents

Steve Turner –

support from Skinner’s Rats

One of the finest singer/concertina players of his generation, Steve won Melody Maker’s Star of the 80s competition in 1979 and turned professional. Drawing on a family heritage that stretches back to the late 1800s, he made four acclaimed albums before retiring from the folk scene. He returned in 2004, drawing on friends including Martin Carthy and Nancy Kerr, to complete album number five and has since recorded number six. Hear a master at work.

Paul Carrack’s soulful vocals and songwriting prowess have been at the heart of some of the most successful bands of the 70s and 80s. Join him as, backed by a seven-piece band, he revisits the poppowered highlights of a career that spans almost 40 years. He made his name with Ace, whose global hit How Long peaked at number three in America. After a brief stint with Roxy Music and working as a session musician for bands including The Smiths and The Undertones, he again found worldwide fame with Squeeze and Mike and the Mechanics. Jethro – Too Late to Grow Up The world’s funniest Cornish comic returns to The Central Theatre and after 35 years in the business, he has finally accepted that it’s too late to grow up. Through mesmerising storytelling Jethro brings to life a strange brew of country characters and covers an unholy host of topics. Errol Kennedy’s Imagination Imagination exploded into the UK charts in the early 80s in a riot of extravagant costumes and soul/funk sensibilities. The group notched chart hits in 28 countries with numbers including Just an Illusion, Body Talk and Flashback, before splitting in 1987. Errol Kennedy, Imagination’s drummer and co-singer/writer, brings to life the band’s catalogue of classic 80s pop and a host of great songs that will have fans of live soul/funk drooling. City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra An evening of popular classics, as part of City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra’s 40th anniversary season. Featuring Alice Neary, one of the UK’s most renowned cellists, playing Elgar’s beautiful Cello Concerto. Dvorak’s symphony, with its wonderful slow movement that became popular nationwide as the Hovis theme, rounds off a memorable concert.

The Band of HM Royal Marines in concert Chatham Marine Cadet Unit is proud to present The Band of HM Royal Marines with a selection of military, classical, big band and popular music. The concert is in support of the 1951 Cadet Memorial Fund, which funds overseas exchange visits for cadets.

Urban Folk Quartet – support from Skinner’s Rats The Urban Folk Quartet blend a heady mix of traditional tunes from England and Spain with the vibrant fusion rhythms of the Birmingham scene. There is car parking for blue badge holders adjacent to the theatre (access via Best Street). Entry for customers in wheelchairs is via the front entrance where a platform lift provides access to the stalls. There is an alternative entrance for customers in wheelchairs, as well as those with mobility problems, at the side of the building next to the blue badge car park. Please note that this entrance is only open 30 minutes before a performance and closes when the performance commences. A lift has been installed at the rear of the Stalls to provide further access to the balcony (not suitable for customers in wheelchairs) and to the Cellar Bar.
