Atongo Zimba was born in the savannahs of northern Ghana where his grandfather taught him to play the molo. Atongo grew up composing his own songs whilst minding the family’s cow herd. Like many of his contemporaries, Atongo was enthralled by the sounds of Fela Kuti’s afrobeat - inspired, he left his home town to discover the musical idioms of the surrounding regions.
