BIOGRAPHY From an early stage, I found interior design fascinating. It allows me to transform images in my mind into something tangible. The ability to convert imagination into reality intrigues me. It is something I don’t find in my other subjects though they are undoubtedly informative. After working as an interior designer, I found the fact that this industry is actually competitive and it is indeed a complicated business. My design pholosophy is to emphasize and spread the importance of green designs without losing the creativity and beauty of designs. Helping sustain the environment by letting people know why must every building should be based on eco-friendly designs.

PROJECT RESEARCH ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE Alzheimer’s disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that slowly des troys memory and thinking skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. But experts suggest that as many as 5.5 Million americans age 65 and older may ha ve alzheimer’s. Many more under age 65 also ha ve the disease.
Dementia is not a specific disease. It’s an overall term that describes a group of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities.

•
Objects help in wa yfinding: dementia patients respond best to objects. These hints can help residents maintain a sense order and understanding .
•
Texture, pattern & flooring: textures and graphics must be true to what they are, limited contrast between flooring .
•
Personalize room entry: comforting to the person while helping them create a connection between their objects and their home .
•
Open kitchen: allow residents to observe and engagement in the meal prep process can actually be a form of therapy in memory recollection .

CONCEPT STATEMENT ROOT The roots symbolize legacy, past, present, and future as they develop and age throughout time. Roots connect the trees to the earth, where they have a solid foundation. The word “root stresses the significance of having recognition in a place. Giving the space a calming environment by utilizing the components of organisms. The finished components utilized are organic and sustainable. The color palette of the space is neutral with the substance of a modern feel.

CASE STUDY LEED-CERTIFIED FOLSOM + DORE APARMENTS Use: Affordable housing apartment Development type: New construction studio, one and two bedroom rental apartments Location: San Francisco, California, United States Year Built: 2005 Construction type: Wood frame above masonry Architect: David Baker + Partners, Baker Vilar Architects Resident profile: Low-income, 25% and 60% AMI, and special needs including physical or developmental disabilities, chronic homelessness, chronic unemployment, and HIV/ AIDS illness. Density: 169 units per acre
The affordable housing apartments are built by the government and some social communities, for people who are in need of a home to live, and these people include low-salary, homeless, jobless and senior people who are not being taken care by their children. This type of housing is very cheap but provides good facilities at the same time.
In the Folsom + Dore Apartments project, the designer incorporated the project with unique products and strategies for the purpose of creating a LEED green building into an affordable housing. Besides of the building comes with variety of sustainable materials, the overall layout has spaced out in an intelligent way in order to not waste any space but to maximize useable space. It is important to first evaluate such features to maximize the durability and longevity of the site for the sake of reduction of maintenance and operation costs in long term. Moreover, the residents would have better quality of life with such improvement of housing environment.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
CONCEPT STATEMENT The Five Element Theory (Wu Xing) is a Chinesephilosophy used to describe interactions and relationships between things. Just like relationships between a person and a person, or a person and an object. We all affect each other in different ways physically, mentally, and culturally.
Wood fuels fire Fire forms earth Earth contains metal Metal carries water Water feeds wood We help each other to develop, to evolve to our better self in the community. The meanings behind the five elements fulfilled the purpose of low-income housing in this project. This concept is based off the idea of the Five Element Theory, and will primarily be inspired by the style and lifestyle.
LEVEL ONE The concept behind this floor would be Earth from the Five Elements. Earth is one of the basic elements that carries human, plants, it basically carries the entire society. At the same time, earth is also the most basic element, without it, human wouldn’t be able to grow any plants, build houses. As same as the earth, Bob’s job is also one of the most basic job in the society.

The concept of the third floor would be water and metal. In the Five Element Theory, gold and water is the most well-known combination, because metal carries water which can be interpreted as relationship between the three member of the family, cultures and lifestyles got carried from one generation to the next generation. Art Deco style is used in the design, because the style can carry out the elegancy of a single working mom who has a unique taste. Years after years, Art Deco style is never out of the style, it is like the wisdom of history and culture get carried on generation and generation.

PROGRAM With such a long and narrow space, it will be illuminated through the usage of storefront windows, with staggering layers to separate spaces and usage of different plants to accent different areas.
Open layout will allow maximum flow through the space but will also include small private areas that can easily be transformed into entertainment spaces and or workstations. This will allow open communication between guest and staff, while more secluding spaces can be used for sales, small gatherings and meetings.
Incorporation of environmentally cautious materials will allow the space to not only be environmentally friendly but also promote the farm to table concept even further. Sustainable products will not only add a different personality into the space but with time each product will show its natural characteristics such as stones changing colors to plants growing stronger roots and vines; creating a timeless presence.

The central part of the demonstration kitchen is the main key element of all. The center is similar to the residential kitchen island which is built with eletric and gas cooktops. Having two kinds of cooktops would be able to show customers cooking can be done with both kind of cooktops. Some other cooking tools are also placed on the same counter. There are also oven and refrigerator behind the demonstration station. The hood is placed above the demonstration station. Even residential used hood would be vary, however they all work the same way for ventailation. The stores will sell ready-made food, staples like bread and milk , and other grocery products. At 1,800 square feet, the store is relatively small compared with big supermarkets. The technology that is also inside, mostly tucked away out of sight, enables a shopping experience like no other. There are no cashiers or registers any where. Shoppers leave the store through those same gates, without pausing to pull out a credit card.

MATERIALS & SPECIAL FINISHES BAVARIE Bavarie restaurant is a elegant french and german inspired restaurant located in munich, germany. The main material used in the restaurant is variations of light to medium woods, incorporated with live plants to bring nature inside, showing the concept of farm to table. The restaurant uses a neutral color palette of whites, tans, taupes, black and greens, which gives the illusion of a fresh and clean space. The greenery on the ceiling of the restaurant is their only source of color in the space which brings life into the simple and minimalistic design
Mrs Pound Speakeasy Bar and Restaurant is small rectangular restaurant and bar that hidden behind a small and innocent stamp store located in Hong Kong. The spaces all mesh together through the use of bright fuschias, emerald greens and colorful neons. The intimate space is light up through the use of recessed angled cans, cove lights, pendant lights and neon tube lights. The playful interpretations of light in this space is seen through the usage of different lighting styles that allows the color of the furniture and materials to stand out even more and to create a narrative within the space.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT Californians have been cultivating grapes for more than two centuries. Today, 99 percent of u.S. Table grapes are produced in california’s warm, dry climate that is ideal for grape growing. With more than 85 grape varieties grown, california grapes come in three colors-green, red and black No matter the season, grapevines add interest and a sense of maturity to even a new garden. In winter, the vines have a rustic architectural quality often in contrast to the refined structure on which they’re twined. Spring brings bright, spearmint-green foliage, summer shows off those distinctive large leaves and come fall, those same leaves of many varieties turn rice red, gold, and amber. Even if they didn’t give you fruit, grapevines would still be an awesome garden plant
