Design Practice: Cobblestone Park Te Aro, Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. Cobblestone Park was designed for a small lot on a low budget and incorporates sustainable design practices to minimize on going costs and ensure a low environmental impact. The pocket park is designed to create different terraces for multifunctional uses. The well-lit walkway and positive activities improves safety and use of amenities in the surrounding the space. The pocket park compliments the existing uses of the site while providing accessibility for the intended users.

Design Practice: The Plaza at Harvard University, Cambridge Massachusetts. Underutilized space on Harvard’s campus was transformed into an open design that can easily be transformed and used for multi-functionality. The space was created to promote organized and spontaneous activities between students and the community and create comfort and ease for users. The mixture of formal and informal seating along with artificial lighting techniques also contributes to the flexible usage of the space.

Design Practice: The Urban Meadow, Brooklyn New York. The Meadow was a vacant lot on the corner of President & Van Brunt Streets in the Columbia Waterfront District that was converted to a community garden. There are many activities hosted within the meadow including yoga, farmers markets, concerts, festivals, arts and crafts shows, and gardening projects. The space is a great way for the community members to take ownership of their public space and utilize it to its maximum capacity. Programs and Activities

Multi-tiered connecting space between parking lot and core of Short Vine's business district. Includes pedestrian and bike gateways, student study areas, creative play space and areas to promote sustainable design practices.

Small plaza space squeezed between under utilized shopping center, parking lot, and a parking garage. Space will continue design of Parklette that is located adjacent from Vine Street. Space will include a mix of formal and informal seating, soft overhead lighting, flower planters, and a flexible open area for activities and events.
• Dining area for food trucks or festival events on Short Vine • Formal/informal seating for day/night use • Destination for school/work lunch break • Soft overhead lighting creates comfort for night use • Dancing/programmed event similar to Salsa on the Square • Open area that can utilized day/night events and activities • Gathering place after a night out in Short Vine

Natural space with organic pathways formed by community. Space is viewed as a gateway into the core Entertainment district of Short Vine's south border. Space will include multi-functional box forms that can be used as play areas, stages, and outdoor art hanging pieces. Raised planter beds will be available to begin a community garden, as well as native plant habitats and natural gardens.
