Evaluation: Technologies

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Above are a sample of some of the web-based programmes that I used to present my work on my blog. • •

Issuu: I used this to convert PowerPoint Presentations into a PDF file to then display as a single page. It was very simple to use and clear to interpret the work on it. Prezi: I used Prezi to display a series of information in the form of an interactive presentation. I liked to use it because it was customisable and easy to use. It also was able to be embedded into my blog with easy which was very beneficial. There were some issues with the site crashing but most of the work was recovered. Flipsnack: The pieces of work that are displayed as interactive books were made on Flipsnack. I especially liked this design when it came to assembling my final pieces because it looked more like a proper magazine. The set-up was relatively simple as well with step-by-step instructions.

Photoshop: Photoshop was vital in helping me produce my three media pieces (the front cover, contents page and the double page spread) from the layout to the tools and effects. In one programme I was able to edit, rotate, flip and enhance images to get that professional feel I wanted. I had to research techniques to edit images such as contouring and emphasising specific areas such as the faces of my models as well as how to make the sticker for the front cover. To figure this out I used the help of YouTube from which I watch step-by-step videos on how to do each task.

Youtube: As previously mentioned I used YouTube to access video tutorials on how to navigate Photoshop and use it to the best of its ability. Examples include ‘How to contour using Photoshop’ and ‘How to shadow shapes on Photoshop’. These two tutorials helped me to make my magazine look more professional and finish my magazine to a high quality.

Blogger: I used Blogger as the foundation for my blog and as a base to present all of my work. It was relatively simple to understand although the new tab opening every time you click something is rather unnecessary.
