Paper variations

The Somerset paper is thick and textural - the line quality that was intended (a handmade aesthetic) was successfully carried on with the way that the ink sits on the rough paper. Somerset paper allowed for a deckled edge, which also accentuated the Japanese atmosphere that I had hoped for. It gave hints of traditional handmade Japanese paper.

This yellowy paper is perhaps more yellow than the cream or off-white I had envisaged. However, it off-sets the green and pink nicely. Seeing as there are yellowy tones in green and pink anyway I think it suits the colour palette effectively. It’s also darkened the colours which make the lines appear thicker and bolder, more eye-catching? Although, I prefer the subtlety of the Somerset Paper.

Much warmer image, generated by the orange stock. Not as good quality, the ink sits on the paper differently to the Somerset paper. Very flat surface

This is too orange and the green almost blends into the orange. Colour is much more effective on the lighter stocks.
