Element Final year minor project The outcome of this project resulted in three components, the home diffuser, portable pendant and brand - element.
The element diffuser is a sculptural and decorative homeware piece with a designed function for well-being. The aim of this project was to provide the user with a natural solution to aromatherapy while utilising the science of scent association through the portable pendant component, allowing the user to take the calming scent of their home with them throughout the day.
The Diffuser The home diffuser component of the set is made from a jesmonite base with brass handle, which holds the double walled conical drip vessel. To use the diffuser, water must be poured into the vessel, essential oils must then be dropped into the water to dilute. The solution drips slowly from the double wall glass vessel, into the stone where it will be absorbed while releasing the fragrance into your environment.
The Pendant The element pendant is an simplistic and classic jewellery piece which utilises the science of scent association to deliver the effects of aromatherapy while on the go. To apply the fragrance to the pendant, remove from the base of the diffuser and twist the magnetic lid. Apply one to five drops of the oil and close the lid I created the 3d renders using solidworks and keyshot. I finalised the fine details such as the engraved logo using Photoshop, and jewellery chains using procreate for the iPad.
It was integral to implement a strong brand identity as this is what will allow the product to compete alongside existing home fragrance brands. Within the brand imagery I created packaging mock-ups, website and social media as well as potential future products for a brand extension.

Olifant Desk Puzzle The Olifant Desk Puzzle is a stylish and fun home-ware piece made entirely from sheet materials.
The inspiration for this product focused around childrens’ 2D craft and modern desk-ware puzzles. The product is composed of an exposed plywood base and aluminium frame. This houses the MDF puzzle pieces, allowing the puzzle to stand upright for display in the home. The product mixes fun DIY and contemportary home-ware together to create a dual function that appeals to both children and adults.

Inflatable fun Sponsored Competition in association with Guangzhou Institute of Fine Art, Nottingham Trent University and Inflatable manufacturers, Swiftech.
The brief involved creating a commercial solution to an interactive garden inflatable. The competition ran for 8 weeks and involved collaborating with the students of GAFA via video calls and instant messaging. The solution was inspired by inflatable art installations and natural, simplistic forms. The ball game element brought innovation and excitement to the typical garden bouncy castle.
During my time in China, I met with the manufacturers Swiftech to see the first prototype of my winning design. This was an incredible achievement, and allowed me to see first hand the manufacturing process and quality control.
The ideation process for this project was incredibly fun. I took inspiration from sculptural inflated art installations. Development allowed me to pair this with a commercial perspective of what could fit realistically into a small garden, and allow 2-3 people interacting with the product. The outcome provided a commercially viable solution to an interactive garden inflatable.

Luxury Tea Packaging Starpack Student Design Awards 2018 Short-listed Finalist
Taking a minimalist approach to a botanical theme, the luxury gift packaging for Bloom Botanical Teas replicates a greenhouse. This ties in to the secondary use of of the tea tins as plant pots. This combines minimalist home-ware trends with sustainable initiatives which consumers are implementing into home gardening.

Dissertation Poster Using Adobe Photoshop I was able to create a captivating poster which displayed the aims, objectives and findings of my final year dissertation in which I explored the changes within industry that have transpired due to the rise of conscious consumerism, focusing on the effects of fast fashion and textiles on the environment. Choosing to display the poster as a clothing care label to relate to the themes presented within the paper.
Ensuring to include the most sustainable clothing care options is a key example of attention to detail within this project.
