MEGHANA M R Architect
Architecture changes the way of life and future of cities. I like the process of understanding and changing people’s lives in a way they are entitled to be. Design is a problem solving process to make a positive difference. My design response has a social & political understanding of the context and builds a curiosity in the the user experience in the built environment. I am keen on taking up new challenges in the field and acquiring new skills as an individual as well as a part of the team.

Ahmedabad? Should the markets which are organically sprawl without any discipline be put on the backyard to make way for the fine infrastructure for the riverfront image for the city? The vibrant fabric of the Sunday market supports the city economically and socially and portrays a vivid lifestyle of the city. While one contributes for the built heritage, markets are the indicators of cultural heritage in the city happening on a daily basis brings a sense of interaction and safety factors. The riverfront has been cut off from the eastern part of city from using the promenade devoid of activities which takes the account of the lifestyle of people living on eastern part of Ahmedabad. Revitalization of markets can bring back a cutting edge intervention on the riverfront and the promenades with several user groups of tourists, local residents and merchants.

How do the urban population perceive markets in
INFORMAL
MARKETS sprawl in cities support the economy of several low income, urban poor, lower middle and middle class in cities. It is self financed and involves majorly unskilled sector making a living on a part time basis and are also lifelines of people. 70% of the Ahmedabad population engage in informal markets.People of all income groups are involved in one or the other way as customers and vendors of these goods. As a result informal markets form a part of the everyday in Ahmedabad.. The markets are a part of everyone’s life right from Breakfast from street vendor ,household goods, clothing and this is also a profession of majority of working class in the city. The hybridization of the Sunday market to the river at the Lower promenade level with the Exhibition centre at the Riverfront. The Integration of these two unique programmatic proposals to have a visual and tactile connectivity to the Sabarmati river. There is an increased area for sprawl of Sunday market spreading organically along the riverfront and also the pedestrian bridge connecting the west bank of the river.

INVESTIGATION . SYNTHESIS OF a CREATIVE ENVIRONMENT - CEPT UNIVERSITY, Ahmedabad,INDIA
The studio engages with in-depth study ,
understanding and critical analysis of CEPT campus. The campus was observed in close proximity from the perspective of the student -faculty being the major user groups. The campus behavior documented with its inhabitants in the built landscape focused on the tactility of campus at various scales. The learning environment of the campus is open and is extending beyond the classroom/studio environment. Reading and making is expanding with the campus, extension of the eco system of learning is crucial. The curiosity created in observing the ambiguous nature of the campus focused into relooking the campus through a critical interpretation of a design and technology university. The constituents of creative design environment is questioned and re-envisioned a system which would bring in a new perception of a design university. Basement floor plan Basement floor plan

SYSTEM OF LEARNING _ UNDER THE ROOF
The roofs of the faculties being inhabited creates a extension of how the campus is perceived. The behavior of the roofs are intriguing and the behavior of a single parasol roof is explored in the campus.
The core activities of the library and workshop . The reading and the workspaces are explored under a single roof system. The ground inhabits the plaza incrementally thereby extending the campus to the neighbouring university.
A promenade created of the reading and making in a design campus looked up . The basement activates the ground and connects the learning environment. The courtyard unites the Reading activity and the workshop extends out its material exhibition . The ramps circulation for the workshop accentuates and assists the circulation of the Raw materials and the finished products.
The terrace of the workshops and the librariy transform into extended reading and workspaces. Storage, semi-open reading spaces and exhibition spaces are also the distinguishing characteristics of the workshop.
The workshop and the library was studied on the basis of the key components which defines the activity involved. The circulation and the stacks organization creating a large reading room brings together an architectural promenade. The reading room connects with the roof visually and activates the terrace.
meaning of a home with several readings and study of the GDCR . In 9 one day time problems, the studio progressed with learning different aspects in housing design while designing for a developer in achieving a better living condition in the city following the GDCR and at times changing the rules to change the output of quality of lifestyle which can be achieved . Also the FSI achieved had to be maximised to give the benefit of profit for the developer who has invested in the project.

activity and people performing distinctive functions for which the space was originally assigned to be. The quality of space gives a course of understanding the space subjected to constant change in physical ,social flux or stillness in time. It is a subjective opinion of people to perceive such a space in a certain manner. There is a possibility of interpreting or force a function to a space which might tend to become a neglected space/ abandoned space over a period of time. The arrival of unexpected activity could also bring a possibility of abandonment. The neglect in making public spaces in planning in cities with factors responsible responses to null spaces in the neighborhood.
