On behalf of the Oakland Park City Commission and the more than 43,000 residents of our diverse community, we warmly welcome you to “A City on the Move” and hope you will enjoy the opportunity to discover some of the wonderful attributes Oakland Park is known for. Oakland Park is attracting people from near and far to our Downtown Culinary Arts District. We are proud that people who visit us for the first time quickly become regular visitors with some choosing to take advantage of the excellent opportunities to become business owners or home buyers. Our community offers a wide variety of parks and recreation facilities – including several with waterfront access to launch kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards allowing you to enjoy the serenity of pristine waterways and the opportunity for close encounters with manatees, abundant birdlife and even colorful green iguanas. You may just find my husband and our son enjoying the bicycle and jogging path along our 39th Street Greenway or taking a relaxing lunch adjacent to the decorative fountains outside our Downtown Jaco Pastorius Park – named for our hometown jazz legend. When the sun goes down in Oakland Park, the fun level goes up. From sampling craft beers at the nationally renowned Funky Buddha Brewery to enjoying a rich array of cuisine reflecting our cultural kaleidoscope, you will find the welcome mat is always out in Oakland Park. Visit our City’s website at oaklandparkfl.gov to check the latest updates on our popular free events such as the monthly “Music on Main Street” concert series and “Culinary Arts Showcase.” We invite you to take a taste of what Oakland Park has to offer! Enjoy a happy and safe stay here in South Florida. Sincerely, John Adornato Mayor
More than a decade ago, the City of Hollywood was dubbed a “City of the Future” because its diversity most resembled what experts predicted all of America would look like in 2025. Hollywood was proud of this distinction back then and continues to celebrate and embrace its reputation as a diverse and welcoming community. Hollywood has long been known as a place where people of all backgrounds and beliefs feel comfortable, a place that offers easy access to the best of South Florida while still preserving the hometown charm that sets it apart. With more than 6 miles of blue wave beaches, a historic oceanfront Broadwalk, and an eclectic downtown with one-of-akind restaurants, shops and art galleries, Hollywood truly has something for everyone. As a member of the GFLGLCC, Hollywood is committed to supporting entrepreneurship and to helping ensure business and economic opportunities for the LGBT and the LGBT-friendly community. Hollywood and its Community Redevelopment Agency recognize that small businesses are the foundation for strong communities and the City is proud to partner with the GFLGLCC to promote the success and growth of business enterprises that share the values of inclusivity and equality of opportunity for all. Hollywood was founded by in the 1920s by a visionary leader who sought to create a dream city by the sea that would be a welcoming place for all. Today’s Hollywood still seeks to be a dream destination for visitors, residents and businesses. Let us know how we can partner with you to help you achieve success in Florida’s Hollywood Sincerely,
Josh Levy Mayor of Hollywood
