Just like a flower, light from the glass-stained windows of the dome blossoms and ebbs down the curved walls. It suggests colour though represented in monochrome, as one is reminded of a psychedelic daisy upon looking up to the skylight.

The experience of a space can only be truly felt with a sense of scale in relation to the user. Therefore the exploration of how a space can be crafted can never be separated from measurement of the human body.

Between the New and the Old | Plan

The beautiful stained-glass windows around the dome highlights the class of the museum being a place for the arts. It is an art installation by its own and is thus chosen to be the Genius Loci of the place abundant in white finishes.

A personal space for a hideout from the hectic city life, where every tcorner is a new challenge to navigate and explore.

Secret Hideout | Model 24 Method, Component and Space

Secret Hideout |Model

Entrance to the space is through a small hole that requires the user to crawl through. Though the shape suggests something like the peep-hole of a door, It is almost impossible to catch a full glimpse of the space just by looking from the outside.

25 Method, Component and Space

Overly-steep steps were inspired by those in the grand stands of a stadium - they pose as a deterrence to outsiders from this private space, yet creates a challenge for the user to engage himself in.

The steps increase in steepness as the user progresses up.

Proportional grooves into the exterior walls create not only a minimalist pattern but also to allow natural moss and ferns to grow in over time.

In between spaces of the interlocking steps hold voids that connects to another part of the whole space.

Skeletal Frame | Wood Model

Grooves are cut into each wood piece so to make joints as clean as possible. The sticks are stacked upon each other to form columns and the resultant gap inbetween 2 pieces allows for the frame to fit exactly. The weight of the roof makes the structure stable.

Planar Volume | Cardboard Model

The interlocking pattern of roots is applied to the joining of layers in this model. “Branches extend downwards and grow around the structure, strengthening and forming one whole walkway.

Plane and Frame | Combination Model 46 Modules, Geometry and Composition

Plane and Frame |Combination Model

The planar volume is made up of repeating modules of organic lattice that are woven with a thin strip of wood. The curvature of the plane also shows how the volume seemingly blends into the structure in all directions.

Plane and Frame |Combination Model

The compressional element of the frame is illustrated through the alternating strips of wood that crisscrossed to form a support down the centre. A narrow space is also created in the process that holds an interesting shadow effect.

Crochet SKin | Model

A crochet piece is made from a single strange of yarn; a pull from anywhere will result in the distortion of the whole net. The use of this material is to put emphasis on how tension and compression works when a stretchy material is pulled over a curved surface.

Mass - heavy, monumental, and definitely lacking in light. Rooms of varying heights with skylights were made to play on the effect of light : a low ceiling will give a diffused light while a high one will only show a stark shaft of light coming straight from the heavens above.
