Table of Contents: The Heart, Not the Hijab, Noor Fatima Women and Muslim women are human, so why are they treated based on their look.

No Harassment! Muslim women should be treated the same as non-muslim women, but why are they not?

Justice for Gender Girls are more than just a bonus.

The Heart, Not the Hijab By: Noor Fatima “HIJAB does not cover up a woman's weakness. Rather, it displays her strengths, commitment and confidence which is built out of our love for Allah”(Muslim speakers) This shows that Muslim women might be hurt, but they will stay strong so, why bother harass Muslim Women if they will not take any part of changing the way they are. “ Some of us cover to protect our bodies, some of us cover to protect our souls in both cases, respect their choices.”(Anjum Choudhary). Most of the hate for Muslim women came after the 9/11, which was brutal, but people need to know that all Muslims are different and if one Muslim does something unacceptable that does not mean that their whole nation is unacceptable. This means that no matter how a Muslim Woman dresses and no matter what they are practicing in Islam, they are doing it for a reason. It should have an equivalent amount of respect as any other religious practice by multiple other groups. Picture Look on the inside, not the outside of a person Rather than the Muslim woman being treated fairly, they are not being given the comparable resources/opportunities as Women (not wearing a hijab or non-Muslim women). As stated in Newsela,“ the court said. Workers cannot abide being treated unfairly and unequally in view of their religion, the court declared. Unequal and unfair treatment is known as discrimination.”This means that if a Muslim, Jew, etc. comes to apply for a job, you cannot deny them a job-based on their race/religion. Samantha Elauf had not been given any respect. As Samantha Elauf went to apply for a job at Abercrombie & Fitch. She was neglected by the company and sent back home as a result of the way she had dressed, and a bunch of companies have rules about clothing and so do some religions in this case, as in Islam you are supposed to wear a hijab. Also, they are breaking the law of treating others differently

due to of their race/religion. Samantha Elauf took the case to court, and the company denied that it had any role, due to the Hijab they simplify, said that the hijab doesn’t look right/valuable with the company. This is significant in the view of Muslim Women, that they are being treated, unlike non-Muslim Women. We all are not perfect, but we should still remain respected for our choices. Rather than a Muslim woman going out and having a great time like the rest of the people. They are being harassed by others. For instance, A Muslim woman, Sirat Al-Nahi, couldn't bear to be harassed on the way to a date with her friend (Leilah Abdennabi). Sirat Al-Nahi had parked outside of the cafe When an elderly white man stopped her. It is stated in Newsela that the man said, “You should go back to Saudi Arabia.” and, “Do you have a gun? You should just shoot me.” This, sure enough, had to abide to make it tough for Sirat Al-Nahi to take in because as she came into the cafe, she had tears falling down her face. Leilah Abdennabi was shocked to watch her friend in this State. Leilah Abdennabi wants to talk to the manager, and nevertheless, she couldn't bear to continue in being left alone, everyone said there’s nothing they could do. Surprisingly, multiple people may consider that Muslim Women might be harassed, but they will receive help… not all the time, as shown in this story that some people in this world, do judge people by race, religion, the way they dress, wealth and health, etc. This is truly unusual for most of us to hear about these type of harassment happening to Muslim Women. This means that Muslim women are facing problems like harassment, being treated unfairly, etc.

Keep an eye on their skills, not their looks. Imagine you wanted to become a tennis player, what would you do? Would you first apply for a club and practice until you are valuable enough right? But for Muslim women, it's different they will try to apply for a club and have a 50% chance of getting rejected by the club due to their dress/religion. For example, Amaiya Zafar, a young Muslim woman, is passionate about boxing, but the rules require her to wear a uniform. Amaiya Zafar wears a hijab, and she doesn't have a chose to wear it in matches. Amaiya Zafar has said that”I don't think there's anything wrong with getting them changed.” By this she means that the rules should change as time has changed, the rules were and are still not keeping at the same pace as the time. In boxing, she also must wear clothes that do not cover her arm and her clothing should not cover below the knees. This again falls under the uniform category. Amaiya Zafar is a Muslim woman, and it said that in the Islamic religion that she should have been covering her arm and legs, etc. This is significant, regarding Muslim women like Amaiya Zafar, who may not have been capturing their dream job, or they might not fit in, but they still try to assemble their religion and passion become one, for example for Amaiya Zafar she is a Muslim woman, so she must keep her clothing appropriate for her religion while also do what she loves to do, without being various from others.

No one is better than another Person Hijabi women are the same as women who refused to wear the hijab. Hijabi women should be given the same opportunities as others. They should not live a life different from any other by the reason of their dress and religious ways, nor given negative labels. They should not be harassed for the sake of their religion. Muslim women are no different from others and should remain treated the same they should not face microaggressions. All of us must acknowledge the adversity of Muslim women. It is time to act on our part. Imagine how you would feel if you were being harassed or not being treated the same as others. That is how Muslim (Hijab) women feel. The time to change is now, by being altruistic towards Muslim women. Tiny steps can lead to vast changes if you take this and change the world, the world will also have a proliferation change their ways. No further rancor towards Muslim women, no further ranting towards them. Compose a change for a better generation.

No Harassment! By Rowan Freeman

According to the Pew Research Center, there were 307 incidents of anti-Muslim hate crimes in 2016, which is a 19% increase from the previous year, 2015. This is horrible! There should a decreasing amount of hate crimes against Muslims, not an increase! Muslims should be treated as equals in their communities, not these horrible people that some selfish people think they are.

Zero Discrimination! To have a community where Muslims feel safe will take work from community members. They will have to stand up for the rights of Muslims. A Newsela article said, “Samantha Elauf, a Muslim girl was turned down for a job at Abercrombie & Fitch because she wears a headscarf’’. Samantha accused the clothing store of discriminating against her just because of her religious headscarf. She said the company did not hire her simply because she was a Muslim. Consequently, she had different beliefs than them. Later, the court decided to believe her. In this short story, the judges stood up for the rights of Samantha. They helped her, notwithstanding that they were probably of a different religion and they are probably not the same religion as her. This show that community members will need to stand up for the rights of Muslims if they will have a community where Muslims can feel safe.

They Deserve the Same Treatment! Muslims should be treated the same as non-Muslims are in their communities. According to a Newsela article, In Houston, Texas, Leilah Abdennabi arrived at a lunch date with her friend at a popular Austin, Texas, cafe one week, and was surprised to find her friend crying. Her friend, Sirat Al-Nahi, 20 explained that while Abdennabi was parking, she had been harassed by an elderly white man in the cafe. He had said that Abdennab did not know how to drive and “should go back to Saudi Arabia.” In disbelief, Al-Nahi asked the man to repeat what he had said. He did, this time adding, “Do you have a gun? You should just shoot me.” This true story from a Newsela article is exactly what you should not do to the Muslims! Muslims are humans, to, no matter what some foolish people think! It is not fair for Muslim people to be harassed in public like this to a point where they are crying. No person should be harassed like this. We are all human no matter what our religions are. Muslims should be treated the same as

non-Muslims are in their communities.

No Fear! Muslims should not fear Donald Trump’s presidency. According to Newsela, Hazem Beta, a member of the Islamic Society of North America. She said "Many Muslims here are not necessarily U.S. citizens. They're here legally, but they're not U.S. citizens. They're concerned. Some are outright scared." They fear not just because of his presidency, but because some Muslims are persecuted and Donald Trump is not doing anything about this, as of now. According to Newsela, Muslim came to America look an opportunity. For a chance at having a better life. Some were even fleeing war. They deserve a chance for freedom, not be afraid to walk out on the street or walk around in the mall. Muslims should not fear for what Donald Trump will do. He is the leader of the country they are in and he should have the Muslim community support him, not be afraid of him. Muslims should be treated as equals in their communities, not these horrible people that a lot of selfish people think of them as.You should treat them equally, make sure that they are not being discriminated against, make sure they have the same treatment as non-Muslims, and discourage hate crimes against Muslims. These pieces of evidence prove that Muslims should be treated as equals in their communities, not these horrible people that some selfish people make them out to be. Everyone is equal and you shouldn't be judged and harassed just because you have different beliefs as someone else.

Justice for Gender Farah A. Gender shouldn’t affect your rights, nor your freedom, therefore women should be able to accomplish everything men are able to. “We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced.” This quote was stated by Malala Yousafzai, who is an activist for women's rights. She believes that women find their voice when they realize they are being put down and treated unfairly. This is unjust. Just imagine what we can do as a community. Unfortunately, some women aren’t treated as adequately as they should be, and this shouldn’t be the case. We need to make change, so our society can succeed and we can move past this inequality. Some women can’t even get a stable education or have successful jobs, which isn’t fair. Women should have all the rights that men have, no matter who they are. we’re all human, and gender shouldn’t affect us.

Women should be able to go to school, boys shouldn’t be the only ones who get to pursue their dreams. As stated on Newsela, “if the whole world stopped spending money on the military for just eight days, we could have the $39 billion still needed to provide 12 years of free, quality education to every girl on the planet.” Rich and famous people have a lot of spare money, that can go to education, but instead, they use their money in other, wasteful causes to tend their “wants” and not others “needs” This is shocking as millions of girls can’t get an education because they don’t have money, or there are no schools that accept girls. Just donating a bit of many can save a girls hopes and dreams. On Newsela, Malala states that she always dreamed to go to school. When she finally was more verbal, and open about this situation, the Taliban went after her and shot her. She was only being more open about her claims, that everyone should go to school. This bothered the Taliban, but infuriated Malala even more. She was going to stand up for her rights, but this time she’s going to come back stronger and harder than ever. She believes everyone should get the advantage of education, to get a head start in life. What makes no sense, because it’s common for boys go to school every day, enjoying themselves, but they are forced to sit home, cleaning, and cooking. No girl should be forced to do this if it’s not what they desire. They should have the right to do what they want, and pursue want they want.

Women should be able to, have whatever job they desire, from being a Pilot to a boxer. Women should have all the rights to be whatever they want career-wise. They can be soccer

players, to engineers, to scientists. As stated on Newsela, "These girls, if they're watching Shark Week and they're not seeing female scientists and then they're being told at school that sharks are just for boys.” Girls all around the world are being influenced that they can’t have these types of jobs and interests because they are girls. This is false. Jobs shouldn’t be based on gender but of interest. If women want to be scientists and enjoy things like sharks, soccer, or engineering, then they shouldn’t be discouraged by boys.

Women have feelings, and they get hurt from (some) mens rude comments. Many men make rude comments right in front of womens faces, for example, As stated on Newsela, "Everyone was like, 'That's Amaiya. She's the small one,'" Men are calling this young lady “weak” and “small”, which obviously is hurting her feelings. a isn’t helping girls find their self in these young stages, because if your putting their insecurities out there, they will never be brave enough to do things, you say they shouldn't do. Women should be able to do things man can, and shouldn’t be commented rudely at.

Everyone deserves to be treated equally, girl or boy. They should be able to have a stable education, job and image to others. When you put a girl down, or think you are better than them, it really hits them deep, which isn’t how it should be. We should all be equal in his world. After All, what difference does appearance make? We are all still as intelligent, and special as each other. Think about going to any girl around you, and just thanking them, this will make them feel like they are important, and that they mean more to the world then a cook, or a mom. Even just donating to causes like “Womankind Worldwide,” donating nothing more than a couple of dollars can save a girls hopes and dreams. Making someone's day is worth so much, because you are letting them know that you care.
