Conceptualizing and designing infographic material on CIRAM and FRAN indicators Understanding data collected by Frontex, reaching target audiences fast and updated
Infographic design and consultancy by Missing Element 2015
This catalog is an overview of various infographic design elements created for Frontex and contains a dvd with all the data for further use. There were two main objectives of this design and consultancy project: To provide communication tools for better understanding of the data collected by Frontex; To reach target audiences fast and updated. The primary outcomes are: 1) Web application with responsive design tailored for all devices, featuring interactive and updatable infographics. 2) Flowchart infographic of FRAN indicators. 3) Editable Prezi presentation of main aspects of the work of Risk Analysis Unit. The secondary outcomes are: 1) Suggested production possibilities for further application. 2) Various design elements, maps, charts and icons available for further use and development. The design elements shown in this book are provided in multiple digital formats for PC and MAC and are available to Frontex for any further use and application.
All maps, icons and objects are in vectors in Adobe Illustrator, maps are also in layers and everything is editable.

Frontex Prezi Presentation In order to communicate the processes of data analysis of the CIRAM and FRAN indicators, an editable Prezi presentation was created. As opposed to static presentation software, Prezi enables the use of limited animation features such as movement and zooming into selected elements in order to better illustrate the dynamic processes and show the involved complexity of Frontex’s activities. The possibility to navigate through the presentation reflects the activities and movement on and around the EU borders. The following pages show some of the design elements developed. For the full presentation, please use the data provided.

Frontex Monthly Analysis App This secure web application features a monthly report on Risk Analysis with active links to data visualisation tools such as interactive maps and graphs. The report shows situations on borders in respect to illegal border crossing and focuses on routes, trends, nationalities and historical data. The idea behind deploying this format is to exploit the possibilities of on-line technologies, enabling Frontex to reach its target audiences fast and updated. The application is created as a pilot version enabling testing and response elements for analysts, who will rate the application and offer possible suggestions for improvement. If met with success by its target audience, the application can be programmed for automatic data processing and content editing.

FRAN indicators Flowchart This flowchart infographic illustrates Frontex Risk Analysis Indicators in the context of movement across the EU borders. The following pages show the various development phases of the flowchart from initial first ideas to the final stage. A new set of icons had been created as well as a slight redesign applied to some of the existing Frontex icons. All of the elements can be used freely and are provided in various data formats. Additional designs are also provided from the development stage, showing the possibilities of redesign of the Risk Analysis Diagram.
