About auma The story behind all the soup. Sick at home one drizzly Portland

delivery service for home-bound

night, Vanessa Beryl found herself

foodies like herself.

wishing she had a boyfriend to bring her soup. She went to the next best thing—the Internet—and found that trying to get good vegetarian soup often meant pre-ordering by at least 24 hours. Knowing that the flu does not come at convenient times, Vanessa decided to create an ondemand, vegetarian soup-and-bread

Better is better.

One little soup company may not change the world, but we aim to do the best we can. From delivering via bicycle and Smart Car, to our reusable container program (details on pg. 28), to spreading the joys of vegetarian eating, all that we do is order to make sure the world is cozy for generations to come.

Meanwhile, we’re making Portland meals just as cozy.

Creamy

Soups

Whether you’re sick in bed or fed up with Portland weather, a bowl of creamy soup makes things more tolerable. Broccoli Cheddar

Potato Leek

Tomato Bisque

Sweet Potato

(shown at left)

Hard to believe that there’s no chicken stock in our creamy potato leek soup—nope, that’s vegetable stock and smooth butter sourced from organic Oregon dairy farms.

If you’re sick at home and in dire need of Vitamin C, you’ll find plenty of it in our tomato bisque. Good also for the sniffle-less who just love a thick, creamy veggie soup.

(as shown on cover)

Just like Aunt Hilda used to make. Our broccoli cheddar soup is a family recipe, and a sure-fire way to warm up on a blustery day.

It’s a challenge to stop eating our sweet potato soup, a piping hot puree balanced out with a little pinch of salt and spice.

If your motto is “needs more heat!” our spicy soups might be your next big flame—just don’t forget a tall glass of water. Four-Alarm Chili

Cauliflower Curry

Citrus Black Bean

Tortilla

(shown at right)

Like sunshine in a bowl! This curry will turn even the most staunch meat-lover into a cauliflower convert. Available in mild, medium, and “what is wrong with my mouth?”

This black bean soup is pretty standard, unless you count the punch of citrus and spice at the end of every spoonful. Best paired with an ice-cold beer, a lime slice, and a summer night.

Our tortilla soup is a contrast of textures—from the smooth tomato base, to the crunchy tortilla strips, to the richness of our avocado garnish, this soup is never boring.

Or should we say four stars? This one was a winner at the 2009 Portland Chili Cookoff. Tell us to “hold the cheese, please” for a vegan version.

Food is better with little perks. What is a sandwich without chips or fries? Or icecream without a cherry on top?

With every bowl of soup, we include a hunk of our hearty and healthy bread.

Our house bread is baked fresh every morning in our own oven, and is packed with whole grains and peppered with sesame and sunflower seeds. We only make one variety because we believe it’s a time-perfected compliment to any one of our many soups.

Each roll and loaf of our home baked bread is vegan.* Our bread is made with wheat flour, so if you are not friends with gluten, we’ll substitute our bread with chopped veggies of your choice (upon availability). * Yes, yeast is vegan. It is a micro-organism belonging to the fungus kingdom. Yum.
