Biography of

Richard J. Cade Richard J. Cade, being his parents' third child, was born on November 23, 1980 in Birmingham, Alabama and has two older brothers as well as a younger sister. Richard is a Pastor, Preacher, Husband, Father, Mentor, and diligent servant for the Kingdom of God. He accepted Jesus Christ at the age of 14 and immediately became active in the church.

At age 19, while studying at SouthEastern Bible College, the call to ministry began to manifest as Richard accepted the position as a campus Bible Study student facilitator and he later become a campus chaplain. Richard demonstrated a passion and purpose to preach and do ministry. He volunteered with several organizations, including Habitat For Humanity, in an effort to help build homes for less fortunate families in the community.

Pastor Richard J. Cade acquired both a Master of Christian Education (with emphasis on Counseling) and Biblical Studies at SouthEastern Bible College, then later enrolled at Birmingham Easonian Baptist Bible College to further his studies.

Pastor Richard J. Cade was licensed to preach the Gospel in 2000 at Green Liberty Baptist Church (Pastor Pherelle Fowler officiating) while under the leadership of Pastor Anthony Nabors (Zion Hill Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama) and was Ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 2004. He is currently under the leadership of Pastor Andra Sparks, of Forty-Fifth Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama.

He shares his most precious accolade, Husband and Father, with his wife of 16 years, Melanie Renee Taylor Cade and their 8 children - Anita Beatrice, Richard Thomas Jermaine, Nathaniel Ryan, Madison Renee, Mason Tyler, Zachary Prince Nelson, Jacob Israel, and Noah-James Arthur.

His passion for peace and people reaches outside of the church walls. In 2016, Pastor Cade started the non-profit organization "The Man Project", which is a hands-on mentor program for young men in Birmingham and surrounding cities. He also serves as a Chaplain for the Jefferson County Sheriff's office, under Sheriff Mark Pettway.

Accompanied in each of his endeavors by First Lady Melanie Renee, a woman who is exceptionally talented and a blessing to anyone who comes in contact with her, Richard is relentless and has every intent to contend for the faith until Jesus says, "Well Done, Servant". Pastor Richard J. Cade and First Lady Melanie Cade are eager to lead New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in “Reaching the total person, encouraging and inspiring all to learn about Jesus, applying and fulfilling God’s purpose and demonstrating God’s love through (our) actions.”

...Contuined Charge to Pastor

Pastor Andra D. Sparks

Installation Charge

Pastor Richard Cade, minister of word and sacrament, brother in Christ, friend: You have been called by God through the voice of this congregation to be its minister; you have been called to help lead this people in the way of Jesus Christ. Within the common ministry of all of us, you have been set apart for special service, to equip the body of Christ for its ministry of reconciliation to the world. As you embark on this chapter of your ministry,

I charge you -- Remember always that Jesus came not to be served but to serve.

Answer: I will

I charge you -- To seek to live with the joy and confidence that comes from being rooted in the gospel and in knowing the giftedness of life. While your office grants you privilege, it is the privilege to serve in the name of Christ Jesus. So, in the discharge of your office,

Answer: I will

I charge you -- To love and serve Christ's people, in this place and beyond, even as Christ has loved you; open your life to them, sharing their joys, their burdens, their labors, their faith. Answer: I will

I charge you -- Not to forget the trust of those who have chosen you. Preach the word, in season and out. Teach faithfully, watching over these people by providing for their spiritual life and instruction. Nourish them with wisdom and strengthen them to glorify God. Care for them with patience: young and old, strong and weak, rich and poor. Urge them to remember the friendless and the needy. Show the love of Jesus to all peoples.

Answer: I will

I charge you -- To serve this people with energy, intelligence, imagination, and love, relying on God's mercy and rejoicing in God's promises through Jesus Christ.

Answer: I will

I charge you -- to seek Christ's presence in prayer, strengthening yourself for your work. Spend ample time in study and do not shortchange it; for only then can you be a worthy instrument. Trust the many gifts bestowed upon you and allow God and this congregation to forgive your failings. Take leisure and recreation; enjoy your family and give them time to enjoy you.

Answer: I will
