Product language in the market is not suitable and simple enough for a child. Simplicity Forgetting their routines and requirements in unexpected situations, due to the complex lifestyle for children. Reminding Children have sensitive skin that gets bruises and wounds easily.
What should the children know? Fasting and postprandial blood glucose level
Painlessness Diabetic children feel ashamed of their illness, and do not use devices freely.
Low and high glucose level Insulin dose for meals and high glucose level Meals and snacks times Waiting time to increase and decrease the glucose level
Desiring
Idea Generation Interview with Pedagogue If the child's friends make fun of the product, the child can remove the product.
Normalizing the product to be used by the child is the healthiest approach.
Feedback lights Infrared ray source
It was aimed to simplify the follow-up of complicated diabetes by giving feedback with light. Using infrared rays, the measurement is painless.
GamiďŹ cation is a suitable way of learning for the target age group. Lancing section
Priority is that making the product visible to the child and not restricting daily activities.
Waiting periods should be arranged according to 6-9 age group.
Blood dripping section
Combining lancet, strip, and measurement device in one device were aimed to be used for calibration in order to give children a practical measurement experience.
The form was revised to clarify the waiting times. It was decided to take the drop form to replace the blood drop.
The model of the wristband was tested with production materials. Silicone was poured mold around the spring steel in the silicon. In the last trying, a working product with a working clutch mechanism was made.
Test tape Used test tape Unused test tape Lancing movement The user test was used to investigate which areas the participants were likely to use for what. Most of them looked for the button to activate the lancet in the middle of the device. The lancing and blood dripping sections were deďŹ ned at the bottom sides.
After the user test, the usage areas of the mobile measurement device were deďŹ ned. The activation button was decided to be ďŹ xed to the upper part, since the bottom of the device can be rotated. It was decided to use test tape instead of the strip for long term use.

Non-invasive & continuous glucose measurement is done through a wristband via infrared beans technology.
In an unusual situation, it gives feedback with blinking red light and vibration. It also sends a message to child’s family.
When the child notices the warming and responds to glucose level, s/he touch the raindrop shaped part on the wristband.
After responding glucose level, the lighted timer gives feedback to waiting time by changing the color from blue to yellow.
The wristband reminds the child that the meal time has arrived with green light which is constantly on.
The device customized the necessary amount of the insulin dose taking in cosideration of eating habit and glucose level.
Scenario / Calibration Device
Mobile glucometer Mystery has a calibration device that measures glucose level with blood testing at least twice a day to increase precision.
The rotatable bottom part designed suitable for both hands. After bottom part is rotated, multiple needle and test tape are placed.
When calibration option is chosen, the device automatically sets all lancet and test tape for blood measurement.
100 mg/dL
The lid which protects the test tape is slid.
Finger is placed on the part which the needle will come out, at the same time, the other hand presses the button.
The blood on the ďŹ nger is dropped to the tip of the test tape and let the product do the calibration.

DUX Product Family to Enhance the Busy and Tiresome Life of Guide Dogs for Visually Impaired
Team Members: Koray Canlar Seren Sandıkçı
In Cooperation with Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
2018
Research & Problem IdentiďŹ cation Guide Dogs Guide dogs are a type of service dogs. They are trained to guide visually impaired people to move from one place to another without getting stuck in obstacles. The most common guide dog breeds are Golden Retriever, Labrador retriever. Guide dogs wait a long time near the owners' feet.
Guide dog harnesses are uncomfortable due to heavy metal rods. Fixity
Comfort
A common problem is breaking products, due to chewing instinct.
Owners keep going according to the direction of the harness.
Accuracy
Durability For guide dog breeds, the water should be fresh.
Guide dogs go everywhere with their owners, so products must be portable. Portability
Freshness
Idea Generation User Testing and Expert Critiques
By reducing the weight of the harness, it was intended for comfortable use for dogs. The connecting detail of the strip used to detect movement should be more ergonomic.
It prevents dogs from gaining uncontrolled weight by encouraging them to eat slowly. It also allows them to wander during long waiting times. Joint detail should be durable and also detachable for hygiene. Reducing the weight of the harness is beneďŹ cial for both the owner and the dog. Products with food will be long lasting. Dimensions of the water unit should be adjusted for portability. Developed to help dogs drink fresh water on duty. Its stabilizing mechanism on the ground is not stable enough, so it should be improved.
Fixed fun products allows the dog to relax without moving.
