Instruct members to take turns to step into the centre of the circle and give their names as well as make a clear gesture or movement of their choice. Then the whole group echoes both the names and the movements of the person. Do it twice and invite a volunteer to step out and try to begin the game.

Closure – De-role and Relaxation De-role : Role Change (After the role play, it is important that participants be given an opportunity to de-role. ) Invite participants to close their eyes and picture in their minds about the character they have just played. Each of them visualise himself/herself walking away down the road, turning at corner and waving before being lost to sight. After that is done, participants can open their eyes Relaxation: Being Heavy – lying down When the body is relaxed it feels warm and heavy, by focusing on the feelings of warmth and heaviness, we can help our bodies to relax. Participants lie on their backs in the rest position with hand upwards. Ask them to close their eyes and listen to your voice. Speak very quietly and slowly. Let your thought go down to your feet. Feel how they are touching the floor. Where is the ground and where does the air begin? Can you feel it? Your feet are very warm and heavy. Feel how warm and heavy they are. Imagine the sun is shining on your feet. Moving from the feet up, go over every part of the body. Describe how warm and heavy each body part feels: • Calves/lower legs • Knees • Thighs/upper legs • Hips/bottom • Abdomen/belly When you reach the abdomen, “Feel how the breath makes your belly move up and down, like waves in the ocean. Feel your belly moving up and down, very gently and slowly” “It is now moving up the body to: • The back • Hands • Lower arms • Upper arms • Shoulders • Neck Finally, come to the head – “Imagine there is a soft, cool breeze blowing on your forehead. Your head feels heavy and your forehead is cool”. From here, pause for a second, then “Very gently start to move your feet and hands. Breathe in more deeply and stretch out. Slowly sit up”

Warm up Name/Gestures Movement – Ask group members to sit in a circle and take turns to think of a food which has the same initial letter as their first name. Examples: My name is Melinda and I like mango. When all participants have been given the opportunity to introduce themselves, see if one person can remember everyone’s contributions. (Before the session begins, each participant chooses an object and put it in their pocket as a sign of entering into the dramatic role play. At the end of role-play, each of them will de-role by taking out the objects from their pockets)

Eg. Chosen a bell and I will ring the bell and said out loud, I am Melinda myself again.

Relaxation: Candles The facilitator instructs the group to stand still and leave behind all the work they have been doing. They gently close their eyes and imagine that each is a lighted candle which slowly begins to melt. As the candles gradually melt, members gently lie on the floor and relaxed their body to the full while keeping the fable of the candle alight in their mind. Finally participants stretch their body while open their eyes and sit up.

Character play: Tanya, Datus Sri Iblis, Waris Ibris, and Dhailia Tanya was brought before Datus Sri Ibris and his people at the courtyard and then starts to make a decision how they can solve the problem, control the Marshila.

Relaxation: Energy in your hands Participants to concentrate in bringing energy to different parts of their bodies, have them sit or lying in a circle on the floor, close their eyes and place their hands on their thighs with palms turned upwards. Concentrate on you left hand and imagine that you are holding a small ball. **That ball gives off warmth and energy. Feel the warmth going from your hand into your finger, your ring finger, middle finger, index finger, and your thumb. The warmth is going to flow from your hand into your wrist. Now you feel the warmth flowing from your wrist to your elbow, up your arm to your shoulder and your neck. Your left arm and your neck are now nice and warm.. Keep the left hand warm. Now you notice that the energy in your left hand has flowed all the way up your left side. Now concentrate on your right hand. There is a ball of energy in your right hand too – repeat the procedure, from here** After the end of the procedure, pause for a few minutes – then open their eyes.

Warm up Physical movement – Statue Shapes Precede this exercise by warming up gently with rhythmic movement to music, invite the group to walk briskly around the room, weaving in and out of each other to form patterns on the floor.

Inform the group that the facilitator will instruct them periodically to stop and call out a shape at which point they are to form their bodies to the shape mentioned, eg. Scene 8: character play: Tanya, Datus Sri Ibris Waris Ibris, Marshilla, NOKARD, & the villagers The villagers thank Tanya, all celebrating with joy for the changes and Tanya singing freely with care and love. Closure – De-role and Relaxation De-role : Non-verbal: Object “The chair” (Group of 2 person) The leader explains to group members how to place a chair in front of them and to ‘place” the role they have just played on to that chair. In their imagination, they see the characters sitting on those chairs. Can they picture what they are wearing? What colours? What style? Several minutes should be spent visualizing themselves as the characters they played and they slowly walk away from the chair. As this is taking place, members should feel themselves becoming themselves again.

Relaxation: Rag Doll Lying folded over their own laps give the participants a sense of security. This position helps them relax. Have them sit with their legs out in front of them. Imagine that you are soft and floppy like a rag doll. First stretch your arms out and make yourself as tall as you can. Now bend forward as far as you can and let your upper body rest on your legs. Make your upper body as floppy as it can be. Your arms are also completely floppy. Breathe in breathe out gently. If those who cannot bend forward can ask them to lie down side way.

Sit in a circle and introduce discussion of the seasons and of different celebrations. Ask each member to think of a time of year they particularly like or dislike and to complete the following sentence. “I like .... because it reminds me of when I ...... (eg. Went to the seaside)” or “I don’t like .... because it reminds me of when .... (eg. myself was ill) You can actually ask the group to describe their own role play and how they felt when they are in the role. Closure – De-role and Relaxation De-role : Finale A variation on the relaxation exercise is to invite people to sit in pairs, back to back, with eyes closed. Members should imagine they have just been in a theatre watching a play in which they have also participated. The play has not ended but come to a temporary pause.

Visualise the tableau at the end of the play, with the curtain slowly falling. Gradually, the lights come up and participants find themselves back in here and now as themselves. They then open their eyes and stretch to mark the end of the exercise. Relaxation: Sitting Still and Friendship Have the participants sitting comfortably with their backs straight and eyes closed and their legs crossed. Place palms facing upward. Feel the ground you are sitting on. Feel how strong it is and how it supports you. Breathe normally and observe the breath and the movements it makes in your body. Let your thoughts come and go like the clouds across a blue sky. They come and float away again by themselves. Try not to judge anything as good or bad, right or wrong. Try to not to think but to observe what every the thoughts come. You probably have a friend, or maybe someone you want to be friends with. Look at that friendship from a distance. What are the good things about friends? What are the things about friends that are not so good? You can help each other, cheer each other up it you feel sad.
