A VOIP KISK AND AUDIO DEVICE FOR DISASTER CAMPS
RADIUM
SATELLITE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
01 My degree project that I completed in one semester. This project enables refugee to communicate with their relatives via voIP satellite communication system..
A VOIP KISK AND AUDIO DEVICE FOR DISASTER CAMPS
research
Communication is an essential and very important human need as well as a basic human right. Being able to communicate well is important, especially in after- war conditions. Nowadays, many displaced people start living in refugee camps and have no access to traditional communication services. People are concerned about what is happening. They may have a lot of questions and concerns about their loved ones they had to leave behind.
A common communication way in rural and isolated areas is VoIP communicatios which can be created via satellites.
Voice over internet carry voice over an network and can hook you up with many lines with one broadband. That makes it a cheap way of communication suitable for crowded places.
Radium VoIP kiosk provides refugee a telecommunication range through VoIP and gives them the chance to communicate with their relatives that they had to leave behind. The kiosk is used via the RadÄąum Audio Device, which will be distributed to refugee living in the camp.
A VOIP KISK AND AUDIO DEVICE FOR DISASTER CAMPS
scenario of use According to the scenario, refugee's information and one phone number they are willing to call are loaded into a range that is located inside the audio device. So, the audio device becomes every refugees personal device.. The device can be carried by the user and charged at the same time, so that it doesn't get lost. The call is activated after the user read it on the magnetic reader placed in the kiosk. The user can communicate for 5 minutes around the kiosk. The communication time and day is strategically planed to prevent any confluence.
The Audio Device and the kiosk are both strong against weather conditions, tough, vandalproof designed.
A VOIP KISK AND AUDIO DEVICE FOR DISASTER CAMPS
detail refinement and prototyping The kiosk is produced with smc (sheet moulding compound). Composite material and the texture is durable to weather conditons and vandalism. The electrical elements are placed in electrical racks. The kiosk is placed in soil by concrete and sticking metal inside it..
The kiosk has a door for repair service. To prevent the water from entring the inner part of the kiosk, the hinge of the door is surrounded by a rubber gasket.

EXHIBITION STAND DESIGN FOR NIKE BRAND.
EXHIBITION STAND
02 A seven week project that I completed while studying at Bahçeşehir University. The main aim was to design a fair stand that reflects the brand identity of “Nike”.
The exhibition stand is 100 m2. It consists of one exhibition area, one meeting room, one storage area and a catering area. I created a slim, energetic, and motivating design in this project to reflect the sportive and fast image of Nike.

research To understand the brand identity , I conducted many information about “Nike” and draw a brand key. I continued to make some research about Nike products and observed some Nike shops, so that I can reflect the brand identity in my design. After that, I examined the product range of the brand to determine what is going to be in the fair.

TOY DESIGN FOR KOZIOL BRAND
badi bath
TOY DESIGN
02 A seven week project that I completed while studying at Bahçeşehir University. The brief was designing a product for the brand german “Koziol”.
Koziol unleashes emotional energy. They create friendship, love, happiness and humor. No thermosetting plastics. No BPA. No softeners. That’s why I decided to design a bath toy which can be used by 3to5 year old children.

TOY DESIGN FOR KOZIOL BRAND
research During research phase, I created a brand identity key and swot analysis for Koziol and its competitors. BPA free platics, and the importance Koziol is giving to its cutomers health and the fewness in the bath product range was the major fact that made me design a bath toy.
I collected further info about the problems of bath toys parents are faceing nowadays. The data I collected from forums and istatistics showed that bath toys are products which have to become more safe. In 2014, there were an estimated 251,800 toy-related injuries treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments. *according to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
TOY DESIGN FOR KOZIOL BRAND
ideation I decided to continue with the floating toy design working according to the pascal’s principle to make it more educational and enjoyable at the same time. I also let children try mockups to give some other design decisions. I played with a child and understood that water pouring, spinning eyes was were very enjoyable for him. I also used wheels to make it more educational.
TOY DESIGN FOR KOZIOL BRAND
scenario of use
The water pot should be taken out of the body
The child pours the water to the funnel part. According to my research this is an activity that 3-5 year old children like to do.
The water makes the wheel eyes spin and creates a funny image. This water starts to raise inside the transparent body. The level of water rises till the level of the eyes.
After, the play friend inside the toy starts to absorb the water with its lila pipe and gives the image like it is drinking it. That happens without any battery. I used the pascal principle to make the water ciculate such as it happens in the pythagorean cup.
TOY DESIGN FOR KOZIOL BRAND
working principle
Pythagorean Cup “o kounenos tsi dikaiosynis” means “the cup of justice”
A Pythagorean cup looks like a normal drinking cup, except that the bowl has a central column in it. The central column is positioned directly over the stem of the cup and over the hole at the bottom of the stem. A small open pipe runs from this hole almost to the top of the central column, where there is an open chamber. The chamber is connected by a second pipe to the bottom of the central column. source: http://www.earthlymission.com
Bady Bath works with the same principle of the pythagorean cup. If the water doesn’t rise beyond the pipe level, the water doesn’t leave the body. It allows the user to fill the toy with water up to certaiin level. After the level of water rises beyond the level of the pipe the water starts to spill through the bottom into the bath.
By using this principle, I aimed to design a lever and educating product and make the water circulate through a certain path without using any battery to prevent mold formation .
When the cup is filled, liquid rises through the second pipe up to the chamber at the top of the central column, following Pascal's principle of communicating vessels. As long as the level of the liquid does not rise beyond the level of the chamber, the cup functions as normal. If the level rises further, however, the liquid spills through the chamber into the first pipe and out the bottom.

Sailing Trophy Design by Melis Ă–ztĂźrk
TROPHY DESIGN FOR BUISC
ideation Before I started sketching, I decided to make some research about sailig. I leaned that sailing, is a sport where a 15 year old child and a 65 year old sailor can compete together in the same team. That was my focus point which I tried to reflect in the trophy.
TROPHY DESIGN FOR BUISC
final concept The two abstract human bodies which reminds us of a sail represent a child and an adult sailor. These two people are taking their sailing passion seriously. The asimetry and sharp increasing form, makes the trophy become a sumptious victory object which every sailor desires after the raise in The Bosphorous. The glass sail form positioned contrawise between the two forms represent the ability of sailors to use the hard conditions of nature for their own good.

The base part in the trophy was determined as carbonfiber, so that it doesn’t get too heavy during the passing years. Carbonfiber is also a material mostly used in sails. The trophy was given to the winner team in Spring 2017.
MODULAR STROLLER DESIGN FOR TWINS
gemina
04 A five week project that I completed while studying at Bahรงeล ehir University. The main aim was to design a stroller for twins.
double stroller design
MODULAR STROLLER DESIGN FOR TWINS
moodboard Gemina is designed for middle class families who cannot afford to buy useful twin strollers.
MODULAR STROLLER DESIGN FOR TWINS
ideation During my research I found out that many families complain about double strollers because thay do not fit through doors or elevators. Parents, nowadays started to buy two seperate strollers so that they can be used just like single strollers and use accessories to combine them. Nevertheless these accessories are not safe and if the parents are without their partner, they cannot use these two strolers on their own, so I focused on a modular stroller design that can be used seperately.
I chose to continue from this sketch because this assimetric design make the user feel that it is seperatable and according to psychologist, children sitting next to each other is seen as the best way to place them in a stroller.
MODULAR STROLLER DESIGN FOR TWINS
scenario of use The two strollers can be attached to each other with a safe and strong apparatus. By turning the star shaped screw, the attachment becomes loose and the two strollers become sepperat two strollers.
