Mark Your Calendars! We hope you’re all enjoying the pleasures of summer! As far away as fall still seems, it’s time to start filling in the calendar with upcoming plans and dates! September 8th is our Open House and Registration Night! Spread the word! We are still offering a referral discount to SCSP families. If you refer someone to us who signs up for lessons (fall & spring), you will receive $100 credit towards your spring tuition. Look for full

information in an email soon, but mark your calendars now and plan to be with us at WoodyCrest Church on the evening of September 8th. Pizza supper is on the house! September 12th is the start of classes!

Farewell to Anna Draper We are sorry to say goodbye to one of our string teachers this year. Anna Draper joined our faculty last year and has been living in Williamsport and commuting to State College twice each week to teach private QuickTimeª and a decompressor lessons and our pre-twinkle and are needed to see this picture. book 1 and 2 group classes. Her studio in Williamsport has now

grown to the point where she can no longer maintain her studio in State College. We are going to miss her and we wish her continued success in the future.

Tuition We held off a tuition increase last year, but this year a slight up-tick in tuition is necessary to keep our wonderful program strong and thriving. Pending approval at our upcoming Annual Board Meeting, the proposed 2011-2012 tuition is as follows for a semester of lessons and group classes: 1/4 hr .. $320 1/2 hr... $530 3/4 hr... $760 1 hr..... $960 Group Only: $145 “Music is the language of the heart without words.” Dr. Shinichi Suzuki

FIDDL I NG WORKSHOP A SUCCESS! Congrats to Gretchen Lee and Anna Draper for running SCSP’s first summer fiddling workshop! Thanks for taking the initiative to create this exciting opportunity and teach the workshop. It sounds like a great time was had by ALL!

WELCOME TO TWO NEW VIOLI N FACULTY EdKelly Sanford has been immersed in Suzuki violin instruction since age 4.

A native of Denver, Colorado, he has a degree in Violin Performance Major from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. EdKelly (aka Ed or Eddie) was Concert Master of the Denver School of the Arts Orchestra and other local ensembles around the state.

In 2006 he was a winner in the Young Artists Concerto Competition and made his debut solo performance with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. EdKelly is currently a graduate student in Violin Performance at Penn State and joins our faculty as violin instructor this fall!

Welcome Ed! Emily Hale studies baroque violin with Cynthia Roberts (The Juilliard School) and is completing a Professional Performer’s Certificate in baroque performance practice at Penn State University. She has recently performed with the Aulos Ensemble and Trinity Wall Street Baroque Orchestra in New York City, and is concertmistress of the Penn State Baroque Ensemble. In 2009 Emily was awarded a scholarship to attend the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. She has also attended several Amherst Early Music Workshops. Emily recently completed a Professional Performer’s Certificate at Penn State University, and is looking forward to being part of the SCSP faculty starting this fall!
