Recreation Activity Scholarship Program for City Residents - Qualifying citizens who live in the city limits of Leavenworth and are currently receiving public financial assistance may be awarded a $100 credit per approved person per year to be used toward certain Parks and Recreation Department programs. For information email Tabor Medill at tmedill@firstcity.org or call him at (913) 758-6648. You must set an appointment with Tabor Medill before dropping off your application. Applications must be renewed each year by completing a new form and scheduling another appointment for verification and approval.

Field or Court Rentals - The City has 8 tennis courts, 6 pickleball courts, 2 basketball courts, a recreation complex with 5 baseball/softball fields, and 7 other baseball/softball fields throughout the city. Contact Tabor Medill at 913-758-6648 to reserve these locations for special use or league tournaments.

Youth Baseball and Softball - $45/player (ages 5-8) or $50/player (ages 9-13) – discount for third childLeagues for boys and girls ages 5 through 13 (birth date as of May 1 – no exceptions). Children must play in their appropriate age group. Practices start in May. Season runs June through the second weekend in July. Registration is March 1 – 31. Late registration is available only until April 15 for an additional $25/ player. Eligible for scholarship use. Scholarship does not cover late fee.
Spring Adult Co-Ed Softball - $315/team - Open to men and women age 18 and over whose high school class has graduated. We play a 10-game schedule. No divisions. USA (formerly ASA) rules are used. A minimum of four teams must register for the league to form. The season runs April – May. Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Registration is February 1 – 29, as a team. Bring team roster and pay at the Riverfront Community Center before 8 p.m. on February 29.
Spring Men’s Doubleheader Softball - $315/team - Open to men age 18 and over whose high school class has graduated. We play a 10-game schedule. USA (formerly ASA) rules are used. A minimum of four teams must register for the league to form. A maximum of eight teams will be accepted. The season runs April – May. Games are Tuesdays if less than six teams, or Tuesday and Thursdays with more than six teams. Registration is March 1 – 31, as a team. Bring team roster and pay at the Riverfront Community Center before 5 p.m. on March 31.
Summer Swim Team – The Leavenworth Riptides - The Riptides is Leavenworth's recreational youth swim team. We compete in the East Kansas Swim League, which is made up of nine other teams including Bonner Springs, Piper, Tonganoxie, Eudora, Lansing, DeSoto and the Lakes Team (Lake of the Forest and Lake Quivera). All swimmers, ages 5-18 years, compete in their own age group against swimmers of equal ability. Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted to be on the team. Our season begins on Memorial Day and ends in early July. Registration starts March 1. Eligible for scholarship use.
