My theme was inspired by traditional Victorian funeral dress with a modern gothic twist, using all black lace and stains with the main focus of each garment being the exaggerated Victorian style collars.
Bio – couture was my starting point for my collection, so I used aspects of human cells and marine life for my collection. I was also really inspired by nan, she taught me to knit at a young age and I always loved to do it, so I really wanted to incorporate knitwear into my final collection.
My inspiration is taken from the street. I mainly concentrated on urban wear and therefore made my collection unisex, however, I have a few garments that are female only. I have used camouflage fabrics, denim, faux leather and mesh.
I am inspired by Nick Knight’s dynamic bloom fashion film. This collection also takes inspiration from contemporary dance and movement. Fabrics from my collection include satin and crepe as they’re lightweight which creates movement.
I am inspired by a resurgence of unisex fashion with a minimalist, utilitarian look. In terms of fabric I’ve used wool so far but may incorporate other fabrics.
Inspiration from my collection comes from modern youth and social media. I took time to look into social issued and what goes on around us today. The fabrics are lingerie inspired with sheer and iridescent and satins.
I’m inspired by dreams, nightmares and hallucinations so that is where my collection came from. I painted the fabrics myself with fabric paint. I used a lot of white stretch cotton in terms of fabrics.
My inspiration came from sex workers and how they have evolved over the years – including the protection they need from predators. I’ve used a mix of fabrics such as latex, leather and tweed which complemented the three ladies (sex workers) that I interviewed.
Inspired by women of the military and how they don’t get as much credit as men. I wanted to create a more feminine and hard wearing collection to show powerful women. Using hard leather and suede fabrics and a colour palette of greens I managed to complete this collection while portraying how powerful army women are. My collection is based on dinosaurs and strong silhouettes, I've chosen an print which represents a fossil like resemblance to give the impression of prehistoric. Deep Crimson like purples with metallic print over.
I grew up in Valencia, Spain and I always admired the city’s architectural buildings. Falleras, are traditional Valencian dresses, which I was exposed to from an early age. The traditional fabric we use is a very fine upholstery embroidered with gold thread. The contrast between old and modern can be seen in Valencia between these traditional dresses worn at festivals in the streets around the large modern architectural buildings such as the “hemiferic” building. "Mi tierra" comes from the bottom of my heart. It represents my origin and who I am.
