ANNUAL MEMBERS MEETING
All members are invited to attend and socialize. Members voice their opinions as last year is summed up and a plan is made for the year to come. Elections are held for officers and directors, and the Hereford Hall of Fame induction is made.
BOARD MEETINGS
Elected board members and officers meet throughout the year to discuss and plan events that will promote and educate about Maryland Hereford cattle. Members are always welcome to attend.
NEWSLETTERS
Newsletters are emailed after each board meeting. They include news, events, and the minutes from the recent Board Meeting to keep members up to date.
BREED SHOWS
The Maryland Hereford Breeders Show is held in conjunction with the Maryland State Fair Open Hereford Show.
JUNIOR PROGRAM
The MJHA program is open to any person up to the age of 22, who owns, manages, or is associated with Hereford cattle. MJHA meets throughout the year to work together and learn from each other and their advisors about Hereford cattle, showing and promoting Maryland Herefords. The Maryland Junior program sponsors the Junior Preview Show typically held the weekend of the first Sunday of May each year. Maryland Juniors can also travel to and compete in the Junior National Hereford Expo. This is held in July and is co-sponsored by the American Hereford Association and affiliated junior and state Hereford Associations. MHA shows its support to the juniors by participating in their fundraisers.
AWARD PROGRAM
The MHA sponsors an award program. Awards are supplied to the county and state 4-H shows for the champion Herefords. Monetary donations are made to several youth and jackpot shows within the region each year.
HEREFORD BREEDERS CUP
The Maryland Hereford Breeders Cup is a program to recognize our Maryland Hereford Breeders. To be eligible for this program, the animals must be Maryland bred, born, and solely owned and exhibited by residents of Maryland. Breeder-owned animals are eligible (you do not need to sell the animal for it to be eligible for this program). The champions are chosen at designated shows and award prizes based on a two-thirds/one-third split of the nomination money. Animals are nominated for the program by the owners or breeders. The Breeders Cup steer champions are awarded at the Preview Show and the Breeders Cup heifer champions are awarded at the Maryland State Fair Open Hereford Show.
CELEBRATE MARYLAND SALE

Fellow Hereford Family & Friends,
It is an absolute honor to have been elected as your President this year. Hereford Cattle have become a passion for my family over the past 14 years.
Maryland Hereford Association is the home to many Elite Breeders and possibly the strongest Junior association in the country.
Enclosed we have a lengthy membership list. Feel free to contact any of our breeders, each of them are very enthusiastic and always willing to answer any questions that you may have.
Our association is led by a great group of directors that meet quarterly and report back to our membership. Please feel free to reach out to any of us with questions.
Sincerely,
President, Maryland Hereford Association Peter SchaefferCELEBRATE MARYLAND hereford sale

MARYLAND HEREFORD
Established in 2004, the Maryland Hereford Hall of Fame was created to preserve the heritage of our Maryland Association and its outstanding members. These people have been active members of the Maryland Hereford Association for at least 10 years. They have been and are the backbone that keeps our association growing and moving forward. Inductees are chosen by a committee of Maryland Hereford Association members and the induction takes place at the annual meeting.

Congratulations to our
HEREFORD herdsmen of the year
Every year, the Hereford Herdsman of the Year award honors an outstanding herdsman in the Hereford breed. Votes are casted by fellow Hereford herdsmen and breeders, and the award is announced between the selection of the grand champion horned and polled Hereford females at the National Hereford Show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Congratulations to Jacob Wolfrey of Grimmel Girls Show Cattle (2022) and Kyle Lemmon of Lemmon Cattle Company (2023) on being named the Hereford Herdsman of the Year back-toback! We are incredibly proud of these two Maryland Hereford cattlemen!
