A few years ago, our group of fellow breeders and close friends decided to sell fewer open heifers in our fall Heritage Sale, and establish an elite bred heifer event. Hence, the Legends of the Flint Hills was born. It was my personal goal to make this the top-tier event in the country where Simmental breeders can invest in genetics that will take their program to the next level. I was hoping we could accomplish this by year five, however, because of the dedication of this group and their commitment to excellence, the 2023 Legends of the Flint Hills will set the bar to a new level! When breeders allow me to go into their herds and select their very best females, it makes it easier to accomplish our goal in a shorter time. I identified more than 125 elite breed-leading females from a population of over 600 head. I tell these breeders, “If it doesn’t pain you to sell her, then I don’t want her.” This sale is unique because we each have a slightly different twist on pedigrees. As a result, we have cattle that will fit into a variety of programs. Even though our genetics may differ, we have far more goals in common with one another — all these cattle have been selected to survive and reproduce in real world cow country. Traits such as soundness, foot quality, udder structure, fertility are not just current buzz words, rather traits we have all emphasized for multiple generations. I strongly encourage you to stop by Westmoreland, KS and take a look on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3RD . I have personally never walked through a set of young females as good as these. Needless to say, I’m very proud of the cattle, but perhaps more rewarding are the families that represent these great matrons! T H E S C O T T S C H A A K E FA M I LY 3

The industry demand for the elite of the elite is certainly and absolutely evident in today’s marketplace. With that extra pressure applied the quest to meet those expectation is set in motion. The drivers behind that momentum in this set of bred females are some of the very best cattlemen in the country. This breeder group is loaded with industry experience and talent. Within the pages of this sale book there is something for everyone with opportunities to advance any program in the right direction. It does not matter if you have a phenotype driven direction for your program or one that is based on genomics and EPD profiles, you will find it in Westmoreland, Kansas on December 3, 2023. As interested parties, you will notice that the head count has increased as well as the overall quality of the offering. We believe that it would be an absolute challenge to find a bigger set with anymore quality and genetic flexibility up for appraisal anywhere in the land. This nearly 100% Simmental and Simgenetic offering is one of a kind and scope outside of any dispersal. You will have the opportunity to invest in and acquire genetics that are certainly loaded with pedigree and have cow families that have built or influenced many programs nationwide. Sires represented are breed leading in their respective genetic profile. From curve bending number and index values to those that have sired many backdrop winners on the tan bark at any show in the country. One thing that is promised, the best of the best, is in this offering and they are brought to you by great people that influence the industry on many fronts. Besides the professional ranching and land stewards, this group comprises industry leaders in evaluation of all livestock, AI bull procurement executives, bull stud owners, veterinarians, embryo technologists, nutrition and feed industry executives, beef processing and marketing executives, cattle buyers for the end product, and order buyers that lead the trade in the region with a great national reputation for all classes of cattle. The incentive to join this awesome group of people for the first weekend of December could positively impact, not only your operation, but your family as well. The alliances and relationships that can be made over time would simply be priceless in so many ways. As a marketing firm, we are very humbled and feel privileged to be involved with this set of cattle and the families behind them. With that said, we encourage you to reach out to any of the breeders affiliated with the stock that you have interest in as their knowledge of their product is “since day one” in nature. However, we also extend the invitation to reach out to anyone affiliated with the Innovation AgMarketing team as well. We are here to assist every step of the way if need be and will look forward to making your acquaintance. In conclusion, consider this the openended invitation to the 2023 Legends of the Flint Hills in the new Schaake Farms Sale pavilion on the first Sunday of December. We look forward to seeing you all there. As always, please enjoy the stock! J E R E D S H I P M A N • G R A H A M B L AG G • T I M A N D E R S ON

DUE TO CALVE 1/8/24 TO W/C EXECUTIVE ORDER 8543B (ASA: 2900283) HILB Oracle C033R, the ST Simmental calving ease sire of choice is excellent in his calving merit with cattle that are certainly broody in their center body with true muscle shape in a refined and sharp featured package. This female would carry two doses of low BW and CE with the influence of W/C Executive Order 8543B, another stud noted for his contribution of shape, width, look, and balance. Maternally this young female is from the legendary HF Serena only solidifying her investment status on your sale short list. Her dam, SFI KWIN Serenity E21, is one of the premier young females in the donor pen at Winter Farms and Schaake Farms. Her quality is unsurpassed to say the very least. Straight from the heart of the Durst program. An intriguing one with a balanced approach to production value as she’s influenced by WLE Copacetic, with support from Mr HOC Broker to grab your attention. Every one of those aforementioned sires have impacted the business with phenotype, performance, shape, and maternal value as well. This female has some added bells and whistles as she ranks in the top 15% for YG, top 20% for REA, and in the top third of the business for CE and BW. W/C Bank On It 273H is the past high selling sale feature for Werning Cattle Company, selling to Griswold Cattle Company and Gustin Cattle Company. This stud is killer in his overall look and design especially on the profile as evident in these direct daughters that are from a very powerful, Broker sired dam that leads the Puett program. Show me the money! This one is from a full sister to SFI Brigade D21 owned by Chad Holtkamp and SFI Savage D20 that works in the Bruhn program. Most know that her maternal granddam CAJS Sweet Emotion is the famous daughter of the timeless flush mate sister to MR HOC Broker known as JM Steel My Heart. PVF Insight 0129 has proven to be a sire of quality stock that are balanced with maternal and performance values that meet industry demands. They are cattle with look and merit. Sure, they have some imperfections, but those blemishes are very subtle. We compare his contribution to the business to the likes of his paternal grandsire S A V Bismarck 5682. The blend one finds in J158 is good from every angle, so don’t let anyone tell you any differently. She does rank in the top 3% for REA.

The stock by this sire have topped the famed Werning Cattle Company Production Sales for years. Their real world merit is essentially priceless as he continually sires cattle that come easy at birth while offering explosive growth and conversion through the yearling stage of measurements. In production, the daughters have proved invaluable as well with great udder structure, the ability to wean pounds of calf, and the fertility that allows them another year of residence in the program they work for. MR CCF 20-20 sired daughters are consistently wet, fertile, and good in their overall udder construction. HWGW Miss 20-20 K7B-E7B is from a daughter of the late Diamond A Farms herd sire known as TL Bottomline. TL Bottomline should be used more to make big outlined stock that will pound the scales every time across. KCC1 Estelle 510E is a maternal sister to the dam of KCC1 Countertime 872H by TL Bottomline. Earlier this year she produced 14 sons that averaged north of $9000 in the Kearns Cattle Company Bull Sale and most recently she had four daughters that averaged right at $17,000. Maybe you’re considering using some of the old man and maybe not because you became more interested in this female to add to your respective program.

OMF Epic E27 is a sire that has left his mark on multiple programs and has experienced even more use later in his tenure on Earth. The sire group is proven beyond expectations with very positive merit on all fronts from build to body shape, and sensible calving convenience. K350 is carrying the service to the $85,0000 SWC Red Wave 376J. The cattle by SWC Red Wave 376J are very legit in their calving expectations with loads of vigor as well as being correct and balanced in their kind with body and shape. If she has a bull, he very well could be the next go to for a heifer safe option with quality.

The Leefer family brings a female that is supported by a pedigree that is loaded with generating potential! Of course, her sire dominated his contemporaries in his tenure on the road and then went on to sire many that gathered the hardware and purple. The stock by HPF Quantum Leap Z952 are productive and are now raising or siring those that experience success that breeds true through the sire line. On the maternal side she brings Profit, two shots of MR HOC Broker, and the dominant donor dam of the North Dakota based Bailey program known as Bailey’s Ms Dreamy 926W. 926W would be responsible for many high selling bulls and females across the land. She has without question exceeded the million dollar mark in progeny sales to date, and her daughters and granddaughters have continued the tradition!

Here’s the daughter of ES Right Time FA110-4 from the KWIN Broker 4901 SimAngus donor dam sired by MR HOC Broker. The stock by the FA110-4 stud are truly “real world” stock that come moderate to easy at birth with substantial vigor and rapid growth that only equates to dollars in today’s high input business model. In this pedigree both ES Right Time FA110-4 and MR HOC Broker are the kind of cattle that weigh across the scales at weaning and convert well to smash them down again at a year. So there is absolutely nothing to question about the true value this female has to offer and she is safe to another sire that’s one in the same as the two that influence her lineage.

Another invaluable breeding piece from Winter Farm and to elaborate, Kevin has never shied away from the investment potential in one saturated with cow family and quality. His arsenal isn’t even tapped yet with the potential that his program could offer to the business. K206 is from one of the most decorated and proven matings on the maternal side. Remington Lock N Load 54U on Miss Werning KP 8543U is known at many dinner tables across the land. This combination produced females like W/C Miss Angel 2870Z and sires like W/C Bullseye 3046A. Sure, there would be several others and multiple half and three-quarter sibs in the country as well like W/C Bankroll 811D and W/C Style 69E “Family Tradition.” ES Right Time FA110-4 is a stud that keeps a program grounded in the fundamentals and basics. They are simple at calving, they want to live, they convert very well, they weigh at every point of measurement, the females are fertile, and they are very wet in production. Study the textbook the sale group has provided for your viewing and reading pleasure but take serious note of the genetics and opportunities offered throughout.

DUE TO CALVE 3/7/24 TO RUBY NFF SRIRACHA K247 (ASA: 4136078) Hartman Cattle Company has encountered their fair share of “Nay Sayers” since their introduction to the breed, however it may be the program that seems to be working. The program works because of the limited use of sires and being very hard on the stock in the sorting and building process. When you keep the best and sort the rest, everything seems to fall in place. ACLL Fortune 393D is the MR TR Hammer 308A son that keeps the center body and rib shape in one which could be justified by the donor power one consistently finds in cattle backed by Firefly 311A. Broker’s influence only strengthens the equation especially when aligned with the influence of WAGR Driver 706T.

DUE TO CALVE 1/12/24 TO KCC1 COUNTERTIME 872H (ASA: 3806012) Certainly, a product of the program. Garren and Heidi have stayed the course with lining up the top cow families bearing the SFI prefix in their early years and they still swear by that today. The SFI cattle would stem from some of the very best old school class of genetics known to the breed. Those cattle may not have been trend setting, “hookesque” in their nature but the cattle were selected from the ground up and sorted accordingly by one of the very best evaluators of his time. This female comes with a shot of the goods from the Mayor of Palmer, KS in the form of O C C Echelon 857E to only enhance her already established maternal outlook.

The dam of SWC Game Day 514G is sired by the late JSSC Wide Body 090W bred in the Seale Show Cattle program of Texas and whose semen commanded well over $500 per unit the last time offered. Consistently these cattle by Game Day are stout, square, three dimensional, good bodied stock, with a more than ideal build and substance of hoof and bone. This would be a scenario of mating like to like in terms of type and kind of stock. Rib shape, natural width, look, and eye appeal are readily noticed. DUE TO CALVE 1/29/24 TO KCC1 NIGHT SHIFT 2094K (ASA: 4115436) The daughter of Profit from the Broker sired dam is carrying the service to one of the highlights at the 2023 Kearns Cattle Company Bull Sale. KCC1 Night Shift 2094K was a featured heifer bull candidate in Rushville this past spring. He’s a son of WHF/JS/CCS Double Up G365 and from KCC1 Havana 83E making him a maternal brother to the $240,000 KCC1 Countertime 872H. We expect his cattle to come easy, be three dimensional, and come with needed cutability and red meat yield the industry needs. KCC1 Night Shift 2094K is in the top 1% for REA and top 15% for CE, 25K could very well be carrying the next great herdsire or donor dam.

The cattle by EBY/GWS Rendition 402B were very three dimensional and cool featured, but when blended with kind and build of WAGR Driver 706T, they were lifted to another level. HOLTKAMP CLAC CHANGE IS COMING AI S E RV I C E S I RE OF LOT 87

A proven female in the prime of her productive life that certainly comes with the credentials. This donor dam records 23 progeny on her cow card, so there alone is substantial proof that she is worth of attention and investment consideration. Her pedigree story is well versed with the known influence of one of the very best and widely used Angus studs in recent history, Connealy Capitalist 028. 028 undoubtedly left a substantial number of bull and female progeny throughout the countryside with those sons and daughters still influencing their programs of employment yet today, siring and raising the kind that lead programs and have the ability to further continue his legacy. On the maternal side she comes with the positive, female enhancing influence of the sure enough proven WAGR Driver 706T, but brings an old school twist with HC Power Drive 88H and Nichols Blk Destiny D12 up close as well. For those that have been involved in the SimGenetic business for a while, you know the impact that both 88H and D12 have had on the breed and the good, productive daughters that they both left nationwide. This marvel contributor is becoming a legend in her own right, and you can feel comfortable in knowing that she will continue to generate for her new ownership as well. Where else would one be able to invest in a proven donor, bred such as this, this youthful in her productive career? She is bred with longevity and industry merit in mind, so invest with confidence in a rare find.

It appears the power and potency of the M4 Ms Impulse E6Z is very evident within the barb wire of the Marple pastures. Here is yet another very impressive descendant of that awesome donor family. TJ Gold 274G on a daughter of KBHR High Road E283 has impressed the early visitors as well. One that raises the bar for index values with top 3% API and top 5% for TI. She’s one that ranks top 5% for CE and Marb, with top 10% for BW, while maintaining top 25% for 6 other economic drivers in the beef business. She’s worthy of attention and acquisition.

A female saturated in maternal credentials with top 15% values for CE, BW, MCE, and Stay that is backed with a top 20% API value and a BWR of 80. Above breed average for growth and carcass as well that stamps her as one of the absolute total packages in the entire offering. We find these cattle by OMF Epic E27 to be invaluable to the operations they remain productive in and find the sire group to be one of the most timeless in the Simmental herdbook. Cattle that remain shapely, powerful, and youthful in their appearance with excellence in production.

The impact that OMF Epic E27 has had on the Simmental breed is fully recognized not only by the breed itself but the industry as well. Cattle that are consistently three dimensional with built in conversion and projected carcass merit are certainly in demand in today’s fast paced and volatile marketplace. This female is in the top 35% or better for over 11 traits that impact the bottom line of any operation with index values in the top 20% of the business for both. Good cattle will never go out of style and those with a set of number to support them like this breeding piece maintains will always have a place in the business.

Troy brings a different twist to the table with a direct daughter of Hook’s Galileo 210G from the female that they selected from the Kansas State University program sired by the proven Hook’s Eagle 6E. The cattle by 6E have experienced broad popularity with awesome appraisal values for both sexes. The cattle are consistently wide based, big, and bold in their rib structure with plenty of beef business shape and industry merit. This female is top 2% for TI, top 10% API with an impressive top 1% for Doc. She also charts top 10% for Marb, top 20% REA and top 25% for all other carcass traits. The full sister to K230 from the KSU Miss Eagle 64G donor dam that sports a desirable number profile such as her sister. Top 1% TI and top 4% API with the same 1% rank for Doc. As far as under the hide she is very comparable with top 10% Marb and a REA value still in the top third.

As most of you know, Troy ran the Purebred Beef Barn for Kansas State University for multiple years. His ties to that cow herd are very strong and he would know his investment in KSU Miss Eagle 64G better than most, so I would invest with utmost confidence in the goods that they have selected to offer through this sale series. These embryos by the exciting performance bred stud, LCDR Reserve 210J, should be blessed with an abundance of carcass value, sensible calving, and curve bending growth. Much like the other embryo opportunities offered by Troy and his family, herdsire potential is potentially on the winning bidder’s program’s horizon with endless opportunities prospective in nature.

KWIN Turnpike Sally is no slouch on the maternal side as she is a maternal granddaughter of the very influential Hillbrands Cattle Company donor known as HS Stop and Stare U118L. Brock has done an outstanding job acquiring outside females to build his program. He has pulled out all stops along the way to add the ones he needs at every turn. The maternal side of this bred female is saturated with the best from both the Angus and Simmental breeds. She comes with the proven influence of Boyd New Day 8005 along with HTP SVF In Dew Time. Both of which have impacted their respective breed affiliations in a huge way with an impact on both carcass and maternal traits. Balance and predictability in one complete and total package.

Brock and Gage present you another to raise the bar within terms of genetic and expected values. This bred female comes to you soaked in EPD values and trendsetting indexes. The resume is ultra-impressive for sure. Top 4% TI and top 10% API, Top 3% WW, top 4% YW, and Top 5% ADG, Top 2% REA, top 3% CW, and top 25% Marb. Top 10% MWW, top 15% CE and Stay, top 25% BW and Doc, top 30% MCE, and top 35% Milk. Certainly, bred with merit for success.

DUE TO CALVE 1/28/24 TO EGL FIRESTEEL 103F (ASA: 3498940) As good as the cattle by KBHR High Road E283 can be, you can yet catapult them to another level when you line one up with the likes of the QB Blueprint D47 influence. My oh my, the statistical analysis keeps rolling with this curve bender that posts top 15% for both WW and YW and a top 10% value for ADG. She doesn’t stray from the premiums on the grid either as she keeps her prospective new ownership in the top 20% for both REA and Marb. Thirteen traits and both indexes are breed average or even better, so where does one go wrong with one like this? Not owning this real estate is an obvious mistake.

DUE TO CALVE 1/8/24 TO EGL FIRESTEEL 103F (ASA: 3498940) Gage is offering up his change up pitch from a genetic standpoint in K2031. She is a daughter of the most popular son of Hook’s Beacon 56B known as KBHR High Road E283 but her dam is a daughter of the many time percentage champion, WLE Copacetic E02 and from the SFI Miss Two Timen donor dam that has produced so many good ones in the Schaake Farms program. Why wouldn’t you blend the best of both worlds within the breed to begin to bridge to gap of the extremes? Gage is purely a genius without question (only because of his dam). Her genetic blend offers trait leading expectations across the board with 13 traits considerably better than breed average and both index values in the top 15% of her contemporaries nationwide. Simply impressive.
