Public Libraries People NEED Libraries … Libraries NEED You! SNAPSHOT DAY: A Day in the Life of Maryland Libraries On Wednesday, October 5, 2011 libraries all over Maryland will take pictures and record the numbers of people who come through their doors. Job seekers, families with children and students conducting independent research, will join hundreds of other customers who are checking out books, DVD’s and other library material, including electronic resources. Let your numbers count, and sign up for this event by registering on this webpage. mailto:cdavis@msde.state.md.us Here is the website for the event: http://www.mdlib.org/snapshot/default_new.asp

On the SNAPSHOT DAY, you will find the “upload your pictures”. Clicking on this line will allow you to upload your pictures to a Shutterfly account. Also the comments you receive from patrons will be uploaded also to the Shutterfly account. The statistics will be uploaded to the zoomerang survey. During the event collect statistics: 1. Door count 2. Questions answered 3. Program and classes offered (Here’s where the pictures come in) 4. Circulation including books, DVD’s, etc 5. Database retrievals, ( divide the monthly amount by the number of days your library is open in October 6. Workforce assistance (resumes, job applications, career guidance and small business help) After the event, report your statistics on the zoomerang site (which will be live on the web page) and upload your pictures and anecdotes. Help US to help YOU advocate for one of our most valuable Maryland resources!
