Design is a creation. There is a collision between my passion and the perfect blend of materials, textures, light, color, dimension, and proportion. My message is to communicate abstract design both visually and functionally. Interior design is an art form that brings to life ideas in the mind. I have an architectural sense beyond what is expected of interior decorators, as designers must know how space functions, along with the principles and elements of design. I have the ability to merge the limitation and fictionalization in a way to better suit the client and the problem. Design is everything, everywhere in my life.

Project Description: Design a two-story house that accommodates the families disabilities in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Concept: The Frangipani residence in Stevens Point, Wisconsin brings the unique richness of old world Tuscany to suburban Midwest. The modern design, which takes place in a casually grand setting, is modeled after old world Tuscany sophistication and elegance. A magnificent, yet simple, indulgence of the kitchen gives the family a comfortable sense of home. The particular layout of the space creates interesting angles that convey movement and energy, as the families’ needs are an essential aspect; the design approach capitalizes on the clearances, movement, and overall efficiencies. This design demonstrates and carefully analyzes the concerns and problems of the families’ needs and desires. Overall, the design portrays a space of elegance and formality of the old city of Tuscany, while being inviting and completely functional.

Project Description: Design a customized unit for an individual, without knowing the individual themselves. Provide multifamily density at a reasonable cost, “Defensible Space”, and connect the user’s interior experience with their immediate transitional zone to and from the home. This study shows how to incorporate our human needs into a design that will be more efficient and reasonable with each individual and individual family in a living unit. Concept: The design for this living space was driven by the clients’ desire to maximize the human dimensions, the natural environment, and the social and cultural dimensions. By leaving the room open with tall ceilings, it allows easy access to all work areas; it directs one’s focus to the landscape, yet still gives the room a bold and energetic feel. The design allows the room to be functional and comfortable. The dark-bold colors, black, white, and red are inspired to capitalize sharp, crisp, and clean lines to make an astounding experience as you enter the dwelling unit.

Project Description: Create a design for a wine and cheese store located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Concept: I have demonstrated the space to be organized, functional, and spatial with an efficient way of displaying the retail items. There are many pathways throughout the store, which are specifically placed to be functional, while providing space for those shopping and working. The design concept collectively works well to reveal the premier wines and regional artisan cheeses the store offers for tasting and purchasing, while having the trendy wine cellar look. Upon entering customers eyes will be drawn to the stone carvings. This design is meant to draw them further into the store as if they are entering an elite winery.

Designers: Lisa Hochschild and Melissa Tennant Project Description: Design a multi-use museum facility displaying Frank Lloyd Wright’s rich architecture and design. Concept: The layout of the building allows the exterior to flow smoothly into the interior through the use of balconies which connect the visitors to the nature. Innovative ceiling treatments, natural light, abstract characteristics and overall structure of the building create visual and physical connections which initiate the movement within the space.

Frank Lloyd Wright Museum is a multiuse exhibit customized specifically to those who admire his American Architecture and furniture. The facility includes institutional spaces: permanent and temporary exhibit spaces, mini-auditorium/theatre, and mini-library. Public amenities: restaurant, cafÊ, gift store, and a large main lobby, as well as several administrative offices and a conference room. !!! Frank Lloyd Wright Museum is located on the fringes of Madison, Wisconsin lakefront on top of Warner Park. The structure itself is a new two story interior space of approximately 43,000 square feet with a generous amount of windows. These windows enhance the views of the beautiful Lake Mendota, as well as the northeast side of Madison’s charming surroundings. The building design also includes a garden on the roof. Warner Park is a relaxed public setting that is not completely isolated from the Madison community. Frank Lloyd Wright Museum will be seen as a unique and further enlightening entity. Innovation, flow, contemporary, sleek, and organic will be of high importance to this space that is both functional and beautiful to people of expressions and art.

Designers: Sarah Etter, Parker Havens, Melissa Tennant Project Description: Re-design UW-Stevens Point’s landscape including the visitor entrance, health facility, and residence halls. Concept: A main focus to this renovated landscape was providing a welcoming environment as new students visit the campus. This design not only provides the birds with a satisfying habitat to live and survive in, but also easy way-finding. The unique curvature of the paths serve as a purpose to allow easy access to all social areas, direct one’s focus to the landscape, empathize on function, and create a comfortable unique atmosphere that no other campus would have.

Project Description: A real client from Stevens Point, WI submitted a short proposal for landscaping, which included their needs and hopes for their future yard. Design a landscape that meets those needs and desires of the client. Concept: The design for this small residential landscape was developed to enhance the exterior of the client’s home. Incorporating natural elements, such as the limestone used as stepping stones, wood on the deck, and mulch in the gardens, creates a welcoming appearance to not only birds and other organism, but to humans who may call it home or just visiting. The low contrast shades of plants and trees create a natural flow of scenery to appeal to the eye. Expanding the native plants and prairie grasses on the northwest and northeast side, creates a safe place for the birds to call home. The yard of this Stevens Point resident is functional and comfortable, allowing many to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

Project Description: Design a landscape to fit the needs and desires of a Stevens Point resident. This project included real clients who wanted to implement a new landscape in their yard. Concept: The design for the Lackey residence was driven by the clients’ desire to maximize on expanding gathering areas, providing diversity among the social areas in the yard. Assigning different parts of the yard, all with a different ambiance, allows one to find their comfort zone. Starting with the expanded raised deck, flowing into a patio butted up against the house to create a neutral gathering space. Then walking right off the deck, one can sit under a pergola for some shade in a peaceful atmosphere as they watch the birds. Finally, continuing heading south down the limestone path and passing the small water pond, one will reach the campfire ring, which can be for a large group of people or just a couple to enjoy the peaceful outdoors as they sit amongst the trees and wildlife. No matter what the personality, one can find their inter-peace, socialization, and relaxation in this landscape. West Elevation: Back of House NOT TO SCALE

My experience at Coco Bello has been a real privilege. I was able to meet with clients, draft plans, work with vendors, select materials and finishes, make calls to professionals in the industry, and help Marianne Buckman run her business. Marianne was very welcoming to me and encouraged me to interact with her clients. I was able to see how Marianne runs her design business. Marianne has helped me experience the true business side of the industry. Marianne had me put together entire projects, of course, with her guidance. I was able to start with drafting the project then to space planning it and to selecting materials for it. The best part of this internship was the involvement. There was never a dull day, whether a day full of filing or always involved in a project, I was busy.
