French Onion Soup

Servings: 6

Serving Size: 1 cup

Total Time: 45 minutes

INGREDIENTS

• 2 tbsp. olive oil

• 4 tbsp. unsalted butter

• 4 yellow onions, peeled and thinly sliced

• ½ tsp. granulated sugar

• ½ tsp. salt

• 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour

• 1 cup white wine

• 6 cups beef broth

• 2 small bay leaves

• ¼ tsp. dry sage

• Unsalted butter, softened

• Sliced French bread

• Gruyère cheese, shredded

Directions

1. In Tupperware® Daily Universal Cookware

4.2-Qt./4 L Stockpot, heat olive oil and melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and stir often for 3–5 minutes until they start to brown. Add sugar and salt, and continue stirring for an additional 6–8 minutes until caramelized.

2. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes, then deglaze with white wine and add broth slowly while stirring. Once mixture comes to a boil, lower temperature to low heat, add bay leaves and dry sage, and cover. Simmer for 15 minutes.

3. Spread butter on both sides of bread and place on frypan over medium heat. Toast on both sides, then add cheese to one side. Cover for 1–2 minutes to melt. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Serve soup with cheesy toasted bread.
