All Around Us Going to school in the heart of the city allows me to explore the surroundings. From the street signs, to brochures and coffee cups, typography cannot be missed. It is clearly everywhere we look. I have realized that there is always a purpose to typography: the typeface choice, the weight, size, and hierarchy. Advertisement and branding can play a big role in the decision-making process of a piece of text. It is the very typeface of a brand or company that will either draw people in or push them away. Therefore, typography may just be the most important visual aspect around us.

Conclusion So, perhaps now, you will realize just as I that typography is not simply a graphic designer’s obsession, but rather in everything we encounter. Let it be known that much thought goes into the process of choosing a typeface, and it is definitely not as easy as it appears. Typography is an art in itself, and if we paid more attention to what surrounds us, we would come to appreciate type more and the careful detail that is being put into each word or phrase.
