JEFF BOSTIC

AUTOMATIC

I start each work with an automatic drawing letting the unconscious, free of rational control dictate a beginning. I then use a variety of techniques of chance and with minimal conscious activity until I build an image that is satisfying to me. Each work forms it’s identity through the marring of improvisation and composition building. In this process I believe true, fresh, original drawings aspire from. I make each piece in hopes of a “Living Painting. One that is open, changing, and have endless possibilities of personal subject matter or visual thinking. The true nature of my process is to promote the art of play, open possibilities, discovery and limitless freedom.
