the curse and influence of the witch doctor. But in order for that to happen, there has to be an atmosphere created for deliverance.

My recent trip to East Africa was probably one of the most remarkable moments of my life. Not being one who gets all thrilled about money and investments, I would say that the greatest investment of my life was the 27 days I just spent in Africa.

In the west we have created an atmosphere in our churches for material success, political jockeying and unneeded pomp and circumstance. We stand in lines as people lie (some call it prophetic) over us, exciting us into a frenzy, though we seldom experience a change. And we have become ok with that.

What I walked away with were moments that no amount of money could ever buy. Experience is the greatest class room and teacher in life. One of the “moments” that I experienced was at the church in the small fishing town of Musoma, Tanzania. I’ve been to this church nearly as many times as I have been to East Africa

over the last 8 or so years. And each time I’m amazed at what God does. But a startling fact is that demonic possession is a common occurrence in this small town. So common that the presence of demon possessed people in the church do not insight fear or alarm amongst the members. I witnessed small children under demonic influence squirming like reptiles on the floor. And I thought to myself, “my God, how can such a thing be?” But here is the “moment” experience. People come to church to be delivered. They come with the desire to be free from

We are no longer disturbed by the amount of sin that fill our churches like foul sewage running in the streets of an undeveloped nation. In fact, we don’t even smell it. So when we get a taste of the presence of God, we are convinced that it is the full impact of the glory of God, when in fact it is just a crumb from the table. Continue on page 7 1

IN OTHER WORDS

When you think April certain things may come to mind such as: rain, weddings, Easter, Passover, and springtime. But this year, something more exciting is getting ready to take place. New Life Temple will celebrate 35 years of ministry service to the world. Can you believe it? God has allowed us to globally minister to the masses for 35 years. When I think of how this church has touched people in various ways, my mind reflects on when I was a young child listening to my father, then the senior pastor, on the radio each Saturday night. There were people of different ethnic groups, social backgrounds and even some who were incarcerated who listen and called in. Some of those people even came to visit the church. Then there were the countless missionaries we supported on every continent and in many islands. We were truly a global ministry, reaching people directly and indirectly. So as I reflect on our past, my hope is that in someway, we can reach back and grab the passion that made us a serving ministry and carry it with us over the next 35 years of ministry service. The survival of this ministry has always been missions. Whether that was home missions or international missions (we used to call it foreign missions). Missions is the wind beneath our wings. It is the fire in our furnace. It is the motive in our motivation. So as we prepare to celebrate this April, my prayer is that a fresh rain will pass over us, so that our passions for “mission” will be renewed as we prepare for the next 35 years of service.

By Bishop Brenda K. Perry

Proverb 22:7 says “The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.” God’s desire for His children is to be a lender and not a borrower. However, sad to say, many of God’s children are in slavery to debt. So much so that they began to believe this is the will of God and have learned to be content.

You, your gifts, talent, and God’s Glory? 1 Peter 4: 10-11 By Minister Isaac Bazile

Have you ever thought or asked yourself, “Does God get the glory from my service or stewardship?” I have asked myself this question repeatedly throughout my Christian walk and to be very honest, God has God promised Israel in not always gotten the glory for one reason or another. God has blessed Deuteronomy 28:12 that “The Lord me with gifts and talents, and I desire shall open unto thee His good to use those gifts and or talents to treasure, the heaven to give the rain bring Glory to Him. Because I always unto thy land in His season, and to want to give God the best of me, what bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and I do for him, what I do for the people of God and the ministry, I want only thou shalt not borrow.” As long as to do my best. Honor from page 2

Many of God’s people have rejected God’s way of prosperity to fall into the trap that the world and Satan has offered. What started out to be innocent and helpful developed into an enemy to man’s soul. Our financial institutions, like our banks and other loan institutions came alive in the 50’s. They started out to help the working man make his or her American dreams come true. Yes, the American people were happy to indulge into this new idea of borrowing to accomplish their dream. Yes, they had every intention to pay the money back, and only a small interest was attached to it. The financial institution saw there was a great gain in loaning to those that were in need, so much so that they began to change their tactics. Borrow your dream, plastic card your dream, build and buy in deceitful faith. American people have been indoctrinated to trust in their job, and all the possessions they have attained to make them feel like they have arrived to their dream and goals. These false riches are negotiated by men of greed and power struggle who build empires for themselves.

sins, but our weights and cares of this world. Patience is our greatest challenge. God desires is for His Children first to seek Him and His righteousness, and those things that we desire will come. His Word promises that He will bless us. God’s blessings never add sorrow, debt or regret. We must understand that wealth is not all money and things, but love, joy, peace and righteousness; being content is great gain. So being rich in faith is the most important. I do believe if you would take a few minutes of your busy schedule and start planning for debt release, God would meet you at the table. We have no excuses or reason in saying we have no knowledge in how to be debt free. There are many books of material to choose from, and you can get started in your Bible.

However, the amount of preparation and energy exerted toward this educational endeavor is not the best use of their time. There is another example of experiencing God's best. It is relational investments." Every believer has at least one spiritual gift. In 1 Peter 4:10-11, the Apostle shares about speaking gifts (communication) and serving gifts (action-oriented gifts). The discovery of your spiritual gifts can mark the beginning of one of the most rewarding journeys of the spiritual life. Ultimately, your gifts are spiritual and given by the Holy Spirit to help you live the Christian life and glorify God "through Jesus Christ." God has gifted you and He wants to work through your gifts today. I Peter 4:10-11 "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in it's various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever." That motive applies not only to the grace of speaking and the grace of serving, but also to the grace of giving.

New Life Temple Ministries Words from our ministries

Ladies of the Light

“A WORD FROM THE LADIES’ MINISTRY” “Through the Eyes of a Single…” “Here I am Lord”. This song has been ringing in my ear! I’m sitting in the guest bedroom pondering on what to write. Actually, I’ve been sleeping in the guest bedroom a few days…LOL!. On March 8th, I was channel surfing and happened to catch the ending of “Touched By An Angel”. A little girl said to a woman she couldn’t hear the angels any more. The woman replied, “Never stop listening…you can hear the angels through a cricket, through music, and even through a hello”. This statement caught my attention, and now God has my attention. ! Salvation has been my life since a teenager. Needless to say, I did not always have the understanding and knowledge, or the relationship with God as I do now. You wake up one day and realize, “This ain’t no game”. As a single mother, you have been given the charge to train your children so when they grow old they will not depart. Exactly what does this mean? To me, it was about teaching them God’s word, and letting them see you repent when you’ve sinned. It’s about

Masai. Goat. Happy Masai!

My visits to Kenya never fails to bring adventure and funny tales that often seem unbelievable. And my most recent trip is no exception to the rule. One day while I was in Narok, after waiting for nearly 2 hours for someone to pick me up, I was taking a taxi to meet Bishop John. The trip is usually a nice uneventful 30 minute ride through a beautiful rolling valley. But this day was sure to be different. About two minuets after pulling out of the taxi depot the road police pulled us over. Now in Kenya, when the police pulls you over it’s all about money. No matter what the complaint is, if you are willing to pay out then you can just about break any law.

Finally the driver returns to the car and says, “let’s go!” I’m cool with that. Hey, it’s an empty cab, which means all the left over oders from the week before is in another taxi or matatu. So down the road we go. As we pass people the driver hunks in hopes of gaining new passengers. After all he just lost God knows how many shillings paying off the policewoman.

So with my cowboy hat positioned just right, and my shades on, I firmly position April

heads peering over the seats, I thought to myself, “I never...” After about 5-10 minuets of us driving down the highway with this circus, Bishop John saw the cab and flagged the driver down. Not pleased by what the driver had allowed, Bishop asked the man if he knew who I was, who he was driving? “She could be a reporter!” With fear, the man demanded that the masai men exit the taxi and take their goats with them. However, Bishop told him no, we would instead leave and take another taxie.

About 15- 20 minutes into the ride he I latter learned that the man had taken on pulls the car over. As All the other passengers left the vehicle in they popped the “boot” I noticed another hopes of finding another taxi or matatu to man dragging a kid by one of its front take them to their destination. But being legs. First, thought was, “how cruel” but in the middle of no where, with a clear the second thought soon came, “where distinctive accent that says I’m not from are they taking that goat?” Kenya, I thought it best to just wait it out To my amazement, they loaded the goat in the taxi. in the hatchback. Hey, when they find out you’re a Mzungu (literal translation is “white person” or those from the West) they have wild expectations.

was being dragged to be placed into the boot with the other goat.

If we are not careful we can overlook the blessings that we still have in our life, while trying to regain what we feel we have lost. None of us enjoy loosing what is of value to us. But before we rush in to replace what has been lost, we should take a moment to be grateful for what is in our life. The driver didn’t appreciate that unlike the other passengers who left with their money, I stayed as a paying customer. He didn’t realize that I could possibly be a returning costumer. Instead he lost another passenger, present and future.

I had to laugh when one of the goats decided it didn’t want to go to market and walked out of the boot, only to be returned.

There is the guarantee that we will loose many things in this life, but never make the mistake and “kid around” with the blessing that has remained in your life, no matter how great or simple it may be.

As the men climbed into the back seat now filled with huge luggages and goat

Take a moment and be grateful for the “what is” in your life.
