The Lite Side
The commercial said, “A body in motion tends to stay in motion. A body at rest tends to stay at rest.” Hmm, what do you make of that? One of the greatest tricks of the enemy is to get each Christian to a place that they are too busy...so busy that they are actually doing nothing. So busy that our spiritual begins to do nothing. Now I don’t mean that we stop coming to church. But too busy that we cease to be an active moving part of the body of Christ.

Keep It Moving Recently after seeing an arthritis commercial I had an epiphany. Whether we did well in Science class or not, we have all heard, Newton’s law of motion.
March/April ’12
Before we know it we have developed spiritual arthritis. Every time we decide to get back to moving for God we find it difficult to actually connect with other members of our very own body. We have great intentions, and really desire to do more. Sometimes we even make resolutions to get moving after hearing a stirring message. But for some reason, moving from “rest” becomes a difficult task. I remember reading a church leadership book years ago that 20 percent of a church membership does 80 percent of the hard labor of church ministry. Several years after that we incorporated that tidbit of knowledge in our
membership class. In the first lesson I would tell the new members that we wanted to assist them in moving to the core, the 20 percent, of church servants and eliminate the 20/80 rule of church membership service. When I think of the church’s core - I think of the joints that keep a body moving. Sometimes the joints can get over worked and began to wear out. It can be due to too much weight or pressure on the joints, or joints that are over worked. Over time the bones of the joints start rubbing together causing friction. When this happens moving becomes painful. It is at this point that an individual tends to do less. They may want to get up and enjoy life, do the things they use to, but the discomfort or pain seems to be

Seed and Harvest By Bishop Brenda K. Perry
Spring is around the corner. God has showered us with much needed rain this year. There has been Last year while in Kenya, I met a young American who was backpacking through some flooding so the ground is getting Africa. His safari began in Egypt just as the well saturated with God’s goodness in country was beginning to ignite with regime rain. My faith in His goodness and change fever. Over the communal breakfast at mercy believes He will balance it off the camp where I was staying, the American with some sunshine. So nature will traveler shared with us the passion he noticed in the heart of the Egyptians who were in the take its place in producing lovely flowers, and new leaves on the trees, streets day and night protesting for their and yes, watermelons and fresh fruits freedom. and vegetables. There is nothing like I find it ironic that today we are calling the the growth of fresh produce with the still blazing regional uprising “The Arab Spring”, “Spring” being the word that stands coming of a new season. One little nation, turned a whole region on its axis. Nearly all of North Africa became a heat wave that would lead the path for “the peoples’ freedom” in the Arab world.
out to me. I’ve always thought of Spring as a time when things come alive; the sun shines clear and bright; the air is refreshing and the sky bluer than; the sun feels more delightful against my skin, and everything smells fresh. I’ve never equated “Spring” with fighting, revolution or rebellion. It seems to be a contradiction.
The harvest of those crops comes from hard labors of love, and dedication, and determination, whether they come from large or small fields. It takes time and energy, along with care, to plant the seeds of these crops.

There are many things in this world that grows without man’s help. God’s way in nature helps each New Year to produce the same things over and over, such as special herbs, and wild berries, and other substance that we can eat. Who do you say I am? By Minister Isaac Bazile
2012 is here and it seems like 2011 had just begun. Then it zoomed by. Now we have begun this New Year with expectations of doing more for the Lord, in our lives, in ministry, and in witnessing, which is an excellent attitude to have. But when you look at all of the people you witnessed to last year about salvation, and about the Lord Jesus Christ, how many did you let know who you are? While you were telling them about Christ and who he is, did you forget anything? Did you forget to tell them who you are? ... who God is. If we define who we are, apart from knowledge of who God is, we totally miss our own identity. Your ability to identify yourself, to know who you are, is totally dependent upon your knowledge of God, and who God is. So I can miss completely understanding who I am, and how I relate to myself, to those around me, the world in which I live, everything is dependent upon who God is. So we ask the question, who am I? Who is God? Somewhere along the line we have to ask the question, who continue on page 47

to yourself, God’s Kingdom, and to the lost? Look here in 2 Corinthians 9:10, “He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness…” Many of God’s people are afraid to give money to the kingdom because of their needs. They hear the negative about loses of jobs, gas prices going up, and the list goes on and on. “Be not deceive God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” You plant nothing, you reap nothing. Give and it’s a guarantee it will come back to you. God gives us the power, the grace, and his Holy Spirit to accomplish His work. It is as the Apostle said, “one plant, one waters, but God gives the increase.” In Deuteronomy it states that He gives us power to get wealth. Whether it is spiritual or natural God’s desire for us is to be blessed. In John 15 Jesus tells us He the true vine and the Father is vinedresser, and “if you abide in me,” we will bear much fruit and this would glorify the Father. Our eyes of faith must go out into His harvest that is already white. The seeds have already been sown. It is harvest time.

make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Evangelism is an expression of our overflowing gratitude for what the Lord has done for us through Jesus Christ. We are to do evangelism and outreach ministries with an attitude of grace. We are not to feel that we are doing something above and beyond the call of duty. Doing evangelism should come out of an overflow of our gratitude for what the Lord has done for us.
It is expected that all who are Christ’s disciples will be engaged in some type of evangelistic ministry. Evangelism doesn’t always mean walking up to a total stranger and saying, “If you died right now would you go to hell?” There are those that can do that and do it very effectively– those are the ones who are gifted in evangelism. We need to tell people what to do, but first we must show them how to live and what Christ is doing in our lives. Sometimes you can show people what it is to be a Christian by being there in time of need. At times, by how you handle difficult situations. At other times by our own personal commitment to Christ and His Church. Our job is to deliver the message of the gospel and not to worry about the results. Too many people hesitate to share the gospel because they are afraid that it will not result in converts. Fundamentally, we are to trust and obey the Lord’s command to go and preach the gospel,

regardless of whether or not the message is received. Bill Bright, the founder and former President of Campus Crusade for Christ teaches, “Evangelism is sharing the gospel of Christ in the power of the Spirit and leaving the results to God.” A good steward just takes the meal from the kitchen and serves it up on the table without messing up the ingredients along the way. We are to be good stewards of the gospel. DO NOT BE AFRAID. Fear is probably the main reason why people do not do more evangelism. They are afraid of what other people might think, do or say. Jesus said, “So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed or hidden that will not be made known… Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matt 10:26-28) The fear of God is a great antidote to the fear of men. David wrote, “Oh fear the Lord you His saints. For to those who fear Him there is no want. The young lions may lack and suffer hunger, but they who seek the Lord will not lack one good thing.” (Psa. 34:9) Some people hesitate to do evangelism because they do not think they have enough knowledge, resources or emotional strength. Let them realize that as we move ahead in God’s will we will not lack any good thing. Quote: Hudson Taylor, the famous pioneer missionary to China, said, “God’s will done, in God’s way, will not lack God’s support.” The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you. This was Jesus’ favorite description for Himself, because is Jesus Christ? Let’s start by focusing on the identity of Christ, He was talking about His humanity. He was also talking the person of Christ. We begin about, and we'll get to it in a with a scripture, Matthew 16:13 moment, the designation of not a where Jesus, in the midst of His ministry, turns to His disciples and son of man, but the Son of man. The Son of man who would come He says, "Who do people say I at the end of history, as we know am? What is the crowd saying it, and establish the definitive rule about Me? How is the crowd describing Me? Who do the people of God, and the final victory over evil and sin and death. And that say I am?" person is called "One like the Son There's some discussion about of man." that, and then Jesus says, "But who And so we're able to see here do you say I am?" He made it that Jesus, as He says, "Who do personal. You know, for you today, it is important what people they say the Son of man is? Who do they say that I am?" And then around you think about Jesus He says, "Who do you say I am?" And if they miss Christ, a bold forward fisherman who ran his own fishing company, and he as far as I'm concerned, then never had to stumble for words, they've missed everything. But eventually the question comes the words came easily. Sometimes he regretted them, but they came to you, and to me, "Who do you say that Jesus Christ is?" Now let’s easily in Matthew's gospel. We are look at this. Because there are two told that Jesus said that Peter was blessed, for flesh and blood didn't terms in the New Testament that reveal this to Peter, but the Father describe who Jesus is that are all encompassing, and who He is fits in heaven has done so. more than the individual can deal with. Just as this happens with the human body, it can happen in body of Christ. It’s easy for individuals who are a part of the core to began to feel the strain of caring the load of 80 percent of church labor. Before you know it, there is friction that soon leads to pain and offenses. It seems easier to just sit down until the pain subsides. But then moving becomes even more discomforting. Resting becomes a more desirable option. Two of the most dangerous times in a Christians’ life is when they are over worked and when they are not working. Two of the most dangerous times in a local church’s life is when its core is over worked and when needed joints stop working. So here’s a deal, I’ll do my part, you do your part and together we will encourage others to do theirs, so that we can be a body in motion, doing His purpose. Mel A. I just hate it when people want me to call them, but they are already mentally on a date somewhere else. Uh, that bugs me to no ends. Yea, of course I do it also, but I have a good reason when I do it...at least I started out listening and was distracted by... Never mind... Back to the people who annoy me, or should I say that make me look “side eyed”, lol... My Mum is really good for the “call me”, but too distracted to really listen or answer. However, don't tell her that I'm talking about her, or at least don’t tell her which daughter said this. Anyway, she will send me a text that says, "call me". But when I call she is nowhere near hearing anything I say. "Mum...Mum, yes what did you need..." "Uh, uh...Oh, I'm sorry. I was talking to...I'm sorry, my I was thinking about...I was looking at..." "Ok, Mum just call me when..." And she always insist on trying to tell me what it is that I was supposed to call her for, while her mind weaves in and out of the "going nowhere" conversation. Of course she would strongly state that I'm making this all up and it never happens. But I promise, I have witnesses. I guess it comes with...children growing up. Because when we were young she could multitask...I digress...

Communication, no one has to be ill informed. Information can reach a mass of people with in mere seconds, thanks to high speed everything. And I love it! But what fillets my goat (or is that cut), just kidding...but what I find so funny is when individuals ask me to communicate (tweet or Facebook) to the members "x y z," I always have to laugh, because many of them seem to be surprised by the "stupid look" I give them. Now, before anyone gets offended, remember this is the Lite Side, so keep a since of humor. The "stupid look" usually causes them to give an explanation as to why they are asking me to tweet the members. "Bishop said..." Of course the look remains the same, to which they are scrambling for the other words they didn't know they needed to give me. So badly I want to ask them, "Why are you asking me to talk when you refuse to listen"? But instead I give a slight "angelic" smile- my Mum always said she didn't have any devils, so I can only give angelic smiles.
The people who insist they don't see the need to use twitter seem to be the ones who need me to use it for them, or the ones who get upset because no one told them what the others "heard" from Ok, so you don't think it's funny...yea, the little blue bird. They want me to talk, just say you do it too. LOL! but they won't listen... Here is another one that sort of ruffles Of course, it’s a matter of choice. microphones instead of an old 1930’s megaphone to communicate to the crowds. Amazing! We often do this to God. Yep, the reason I can't be bitter that you won't embrace social communications (all smiles) is because I, like you, am in the canoe. We often ask God to talk to us, keep us informed, show us our purpose, give us direction, and the list goes on and on. But then we, for whatever reason, refuse to "follow" (as in follow someone on twitter) Him. We give Him our list of "can you let someone know God that I need..." but when it comes time to “follow” Him we choose to make excuses. Maybe, we fall in the other group. We say, “Hey God can you give me a call I need you to do me a favor.” But when He does, we are preoccupied with more entertaining things. We lay out our request, but how often do we hear His? In order for us to really know what God desires for us to know, we have to stop and take time to listen. And sometimes it goes against our comfort level or traditions- what worked when you first got saved may not be enough to stay connected to what God is doing NOW. If you ask God to talk...then you have to take the time to listen. Otherwise don't get upset when He gives you the look - "I was talking but you weren't listening". While making use of today’s new ways of communicating at the speed of light, as opposed to our grandparents turtle speed Pony Express, is a personal choice. Taking the time to hear what God is really saying is mandatory and a necessity to the very survival of every Christian. Not hearing God clearly can cause painful results, or leave you on the slow network, while everyone else around you who are on the “4G connection” have already gotten the message. March/April
