What I want to receive from my “sabbatical” is to quiet my soul down, whether it is sleeping in a few days, playing some game on the computer, watching television, an activity outside, whatever takes me away from the constant driving force of doing. My spirit person loves God with everything within me, but my soul can cause distraction because is over worked and tired. Yes, nothing is greater than my “sabbatical”, to have a few days closure with the Lord to bring the soul back in harmony with the spirit person. Remember everything is housed in the soul, your emotions, will, thinking, feeling, intellect, and the list goes on. Our spirit does not get weary, but our soul does. For it to continue in the race, give your soul some rest. Rest is needed in about everything, whether material, or people or things. God commanded Israel to allow the land to rest after seven years of giving out. Our soul is just like the soil. For it to be effective and productive, we need rest.

You have been changing since the day you were born! Word: "Metamorphosis" metamorphoo (met-am-or-fo'-o); to transform (literally or figuratively, "metamorphose") KJV-- change, transfigure, transform. As a caterpillar into a butterfly. This word describes the process that God is doing in our lives. I believe it is His will that we be transformed in order for us to do His will. We must understand that spiritually, transformation takes time. It is no less a miracle whether it takes 1 second or 100 years. Time is not as important with God as the end results. The miracle is still the same! Time – quick or lengthy. • Be transformed on the Mount with Peter James and John • Water into wine! • Create the World in 7 Days • Transform a Jacob (the grabber and the one that wrestled with God) into the Son of God called Israel. The only difference is the time of the process and material! The choice to be transformed is yours. You eat and exercise and your physical body will grow. You study and observe and your mind will grow. You chose to relate to others and

better? Have you given up? Are you stuck in a rut? Have you quit growing as a person? Have you quit growing as a Christian? III.Today I want to talk to you about the power of God that is available to you to lift you out of that pit of despair and lethargy and transform your future.
That is what the Gospel is all about! Good News, Hope! God hasn't quit on you! Our journey in faith study brings us to Hebrews 11, God's Hall of Faith. Now chances are great that I am talking to some people that are fighting a ghost from the past. For you .. it may be that you've committed some tragic sin that nobody ever found out about. Your ghost may be a mental or emotional breakdown that you had that nobody knows about. Minister Isaac J. Remember that we must make it to the finish line. Another thing about a true runner is that nothing short of a broken leg can keep them from running. They run in the heat, in the cold, in rain or snow, even when they don’t feel their best they still want to run.
Sis. Donna Stephens, Ladies of the Light Coordinator

himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” Based on my belief in scripture, Christianity today is not what our Lord intended, by no means. Much of contemporary Christianity and church life is bent on selfcentered, selfcircumferenced consumption. There are many people who wish to identify themselves with Jesus Christ, but on their terms. They wish to call themselves Christians and their whole perspective toward it is that they are in it for what they can gain. They are in it to be identified with one of the big name mega churches. They are in it expecting Jesus to jump at their every petition. To come to Jesus Christ, yes, is to receive and keep on receiving forever and ever. But there's pain before the gain, and there is a cross before the crown, and there is suffering before the glory. And there is sacrifice before the reward. I believe that's what our Lord is teaching us in this critical passage. Truth is we are called to win by losing. That's the heart of discipleship. We are called to give up before we gain. It isn't as if Jesus had just said this for the first time. Look back in chapter 10, verse 37. But it isn't only Matthew that records this principle. Mark does as well in chapter 10 and verse 21. In Luke we find the same thing repeated in chapter 14, verse 25. And John wouldn't be left out either in this crucial lesson. And so we hear our Lord continued on page 7

Greetings from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. I just wanted to do a brief introduction to what has been taking place so far. I have come into interaction with some awesome people on this campus. I have to say that this is, undeniably, one beautiful campus. I miss you guys this August 22nd, the first Sunday I have not been at New Life Temple Church at my post in the sound booth. I did, however, go to a church called Antioch Baptist Church that Sunday, and it put me in mind of home in quite a few ways. I will be going again this current Sunday for Sunday School. As I am typing, I have currently completed three classes, and I have one more remaining later in the afternoon. Did I mention that this campus is insanely BIG!?!?! But after walking back and forth from place to place, I am really getting my barrings together, which is helpful. The staff, students, teachers, professors, etc. are all just wonderful people. I thank God for the opportunity to be here. The weather consist of clear

That easy to use switch is placed in the most convenient place for the safety of you and others, and to show a thing called COURTESY! Yes, it’s true. This is a major pet peeve of mine. I don’t know why, but it just seems to bug the jiggers out of me when people don’t use their blinker switch. And those people who love leaving it on...now that’s a whole other story. There are those who have coined a phrase, “Nobody can judge me but God”, to defend their behavior. It’s like when I ask people why didn’t they use their signal? “Oh, no one was behind me...the other car is way back there.” Guess what? It’s still wrong. There is nothing worst than seeing a person destroy or weaken the credibility of Christians by using the label, but denying responsibility to live like one. That individual becomes a danger to themselves and those who are around them. So let’s make sure our indicator light is on lest we cause a major wreck and cause others to be hurt by our decision. about that? Think of it this way. When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed and your advice is disregarded, and your opinions are ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart or even defend yourself, you take it all patiently in loving silence, you're dying to self.
When you lovingly and patiently bear any disgrace, any annoyance, you can stand face to face with folly and extravagance and spiritual insensitivity, and endure it as Jesus did, that is dying to self. When you are content with any food, any money, any clothing, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God, that is dying to self. criticize than to appreciate. To focus on the things they lack rather than the many good qualities that make them special. Many of us are reluctant to put in the work necessary to build a strong and stable relationship; one that will go the distance. One way to ensure longevity in your marriage relationship is to VALUE it! Don’t just have the attitude that I love him or her and that’s enough. Do your best to add to your marriage. Grow together; learn something new about your spouse; study them. The scripture tells us to dwell together according to knowledge and that we are heirs together of the gracious gift of life. 1 Peter 3:7 This will require spending time together, talking about things that are important. No not the bills or the children, although we must talk about these things. Remember to explore what’s important to them as an individual. Perhaps it’s a dream they have forgotten, desires they haven’t realized yet. Talk the way you did when you were dating and wanted to know more about what made this person uniquely them. Take a real interest in each other. Often we let the everyday cares of maintaining a home, work, dealing with the children and many other necessary things cause us to grow apart. Don’t allow “life” to cause you to go through the motions without really “living”! It’s important to do things you like to do together. Make sure your spouse knows and feels they are the most important person in your life. Value the gift of love given to you in the person of your spouse. Do things to add to the quality of your relationship. Pray together, it builds intimacy. As we are humbled and vulnerable in our relationship with God and one another we strengthen our foundation. A threefold cord is not easily broken. It is important to worship together to discuss and study God’s word together. You don’t have to be super spiritual or pious to do this. Take a walk together, retreat and go on vacation together. It’s important to get away just the two of you from time to time to renew your commitments to each other. As you ascribe value to your marriage you will make it a priority! Min. Pamlar Clark
