Sorry, I Missed You By Mel Perry Recently, I had one of those “let’s admired one of the young adults because just talk” moments with the youth. A she noticed that this young lady always very interesting story was shared, where make her way across the church to greet a young mind was opened and enlighten new people. As the youth continued, she to their responsibility to the Great said that she wanted to be like this Commission. young adult, reaching out to those who God brings in. A youth was sitting in her usual seat one Sunday. She noticed some young There are two things here: 1. That ladies, around her age, whom she had youth is learning by example. The of our comfortable place and reach out youth was convicted. She asked herself to others. We “how can I reach must be willing people who never come to go to them here? I must first reach and stop those who are coming expecting them here every Sunday.” to come to us. WOW! After all, this is How many times our house, and has our leader spoke we are inviting this to us? Yet it does not always sink them to come and take up residence. So into our spirit. we must show them what God’s house has to offer them. I was moved by the conviction that this youth felt. As she shared her heart, I There are people who are visiting realized that God is sending people, but churches looking for a place full of life we don’t see them. Something About That Name Acts 8:9-10 By Min. Isaac Bazile Phil. 2:10, “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.” There is the Name, the Name that is above every Name--the Name of Jesus. And that Name is first given to us in Matthew 1. 1. What is in a name? A name in Bible times played a major part in describing someone. The name Moses means, "drawn out." He was found and drawn from the bulrushes when he was a baby. The name Naomi means "pleasant." The name Peter means "little rock." The name JESUS in Isaiah 9: 6 gives us a clear description. It reads, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace." Have you pondered the powerful, gracious, and matchless worth of the Name of Jesus? Have you ever tried to witness to someone, and when it came to explaining the importance of the name of Jesus the conversation became a debate? This debate per se has caused much controversy among believers and nonbelievers for centuries. Most people will say the name of Jesus is not important, especially when it comes to baptism. Thos is mainly due to a lack of understanding, yet most people profess to be believers. Did you know that it is possible to be an unsaved baptized believer? That you can believe right without being right! In fact, there was an unsaved baptized believer and part of the church in Samaria. His name was Simon. (Acts 8.9-12) "9 But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, 10 to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is the great power of God." 11 And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time. 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things
concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ ... When we are witnessing, or just trying to teach someone about the name of Jesus, we should start with the basics. We are learning these days what it takes to get back to the basics of being a Christian, and a part of the Church. What does being a Christian look like at work, at school, or at home? And what about being the Church? Remember, the Church is not buildings, it's people. People whose lives have been transformed by God; people whose sins have been forgiven; people who worship the God who loves them and has put purpose in their life. If the book of Acts teaches us anything ... it teaches us that it is time for the Christians living in the 21st century to get back to the basics of what it means to be a Christian, and the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. There are many ideas today when it comes to Jesus Christ, Christianity, and Church. A national survey of 1402 adults ages 18 and older who have not attended a worship gathering in the last six months were asked these three questions: *I believe I can have a good relationship with God without being involved in church: 86% agreed. *The church is full of hypocrites, people who criticize others for doing the same things they do themselves: 72% agreed. *Believing in Jesus makes a positive difference in a person's life: 71% agreed. The conclusion was that there are many people today tripping over the church before they ever hear the message of the cross. *I have at least one close friend who considers himself or herself a Christian: 89% agreed. His name gives us power: 1. Power to live-John 20:31, “but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” Continued on page 7

2. Power to heal-Acts 16:18, “And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour.” 3. Power of the spirit 1 Cor. 6:11, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” 4. Power of Grace 2 Thess 1:12, “that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God
and the Lord Jesus Christ.” It's not that we have to search for unchurched people around us, we actually already know them and most of them are willing to listen to what we have to say about Christ and knowing Him. When Jesus has saved you, and forgiven you, and transformed you ... you live for those opportunities to praise and worship Him!

It’s no secret that I’m very appreciative to the modern gadgets that have made my simple life so much more...how shall we say it fun, busy, international. Yes, international, but we will leave that alone for the moment. Not only are there far better toys for grown ups to play with then when my parents were my age, but more ways to communicate and to see/hear the world. Truly the world is at our finger tips, a mer click or tap away from “here”. In my simple world, I have managed to merge and sync every limb of my geek-free (LOL!), communication right now obsessed life together. Now I function as one single unit...most of the time. Yet, my world has the potential to be located somewhere out there. Far away from the touch of a real human hand, one made of living flesh. I don’t mind the human stalkers from Twitter, or the self obsessed freaks on web 2.0 who dream of reaching the 1,000 friends mark. It’s just the world we live in. I personally have enjoyed being asked to be a far distant commentator on Facebook friend’s post. But at some point you have to ask yourself, “who are these people who call themselves my friend?” Have our spiritual lives become filled with “social networking” more than a desire to “reach out and touch someone”? It’s easy for members in the church to put their local assembly on blast because they feel as if they are left out of the best cliques. I laugh every time I hear it. And it does not matter what church you go to, you will always hear the disgruntle saga muffins complaint. But why don’t these individuals become the arm that reaches out instead of the mouth that complains? As much as we would like it to be, the church will never be a web 2.0, 3.0 or 5.0 social club. Jesus created his church to be a family and a body. What does that mean? It means that if no one invites me to be their friend, I will go and initiate the fellowship. As a mature member of the body, I will go and minister to those who are being born into God’s family. Facebook is a great tool for networking, creating faux lives, creating pretend friends. It aids those who have a need to inflate their ego to a place of “everyone
From Facebook to Face 2 Face loves me” status. And while Facebook is even a great tool to “call out” to people, its social ideology should not be the way Christians do church. “Old” Christians don’t need people to invite them to be friends. Instead we should be the first to make face to face the way to do church 2.0. My virtual social world is almost global, covering the Western Hemisphere and circling on around to the Eastern Hemisphere. Yet I would not say that I really know these people...ok, maybe a few. At the same time it has enabled me to stay in-touch with people I have met in passing or while traveling overseas. And in that, it serves a great purpose. In September I will get a chance to see a friend in South Africa. That relationship has remained due to Facebook and IM. But recently, I was in Maryland. A virtual friend and I decided to hook up. Though we had learned a lot about each other’s political passion, meeting in person was a whole other world. Virtual hugs and hand shacks don’t feel anything like the real thing. The laughter and coffee could not really be enjoyed through a computer. There was something about that face to face encounter. Now I’m a person who has become too comfortable in the virtual world. I prefer a text instead of a phone call - takes too much time. WHAT! While there are many who will fault me, and have, I find that we do it all to often in the church world. No not everyone, but too many. This is how it works: we make quick phone call really hoping that the person does not answer the phone. When they do, we give our little spill and tell them if they need anything to “please give me a call”. To which we feel we have touched that person. But in church 2.0 a phone call become Facebook’s virtual world. How about finding out what that person enjoys and inviting them to do it. Or maybe you can create a small fellowship gathering allowing them to meet other people. You see, you’re not wasting breath complaining about lack of fellowship, instead you become the one tool you lacked in fellowship...you reaching out to touch someone. No, no...from now on we are not going to look at how everyone else is not reaching out. Instead we are going to move from Facebook to face to face.

We believe in one eternal God; infinite in power, holy in nature, attributes and purpose, as well as, omniscient and omnipresent. We believe this one true God, who revealed Himself as Father in Creation, as Son in redemption, and as Holy Ghost in regeneration. We believe that - in Him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell. We believe in the death, burial and resurrection. We believe in being born again of water-by immersion in the name of the Lord “Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and in Spirit baptism of the Holy Ghost - speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. We believe in divine healing, communion and foot washing. We believe in presenting our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. We believe in expressions of praise with lifted hands, hand clapping, playing of musical instruments, voice of praise and dancing. The purpose of New Life Temple Church is to instill the faith of Jesus Christ into the lives of ALL PEOPLE, bringing them into spiritual perfection with a spirit of excellence.
