Dreaming high to touch the sky
Welcome to the highly anticipated fourth edition of Imagine This readers online magazine. What I love about Imagine This is, it gives you an insight into the authors style. Be sure to see what other published works they may have with the links provided. This month I was excited to add my own little fictional piece, Invisible. As well as continue with the next TV episode of Jeremy’s acting career in the Epic Screenplay. I also have some new writers on board, keen to express their thoughts on life. Please note, writers have submitted content from all around the world, so I have left spelling of their language as is, even if in another country, the word is spelt differently. Be sure to spread the word of this free online magazine and tell me what your favourite piece is at imaginethismagazine@gmail.com. Yours sincerely,

It’s the little things that matter
Written by Jennifer Loiske It all started a couple of years ago. First it was a joke, but then the idea started to grow until five authors were quite serious about it. So while waiting for our books to sell millions, my friends and I decided to team up and do something good with our writing talents. On January 2013 we, Authors For Charity, launched our first charity book TALES OF AN OLD WIZARD. Authors For Charity consist of five writers, Elizabeth Glanville, Marie Godley, Megan Godley, Laura Warnes and me, Jennifer Loiske. Most of us were signed with the same publisher a couple of years ago and even though our paths separated, we stayed friends, sharing our latest discoveries in the publishing world, supporting each other and having fun writer-meetings in the heart of London. So you can imagine the joy of being part of the project where working together is effortless and your opinions are respected and heard, not to mention the knowledge of doing good. After our wonderful start we’ve had the pleasure of adding two more authors to our team. Drue Fairlie and Brian Ritchie will be joining us for our next charity book for young adults in spring 2014. Our first book, Tales of an Old Wizard, is a collection of short stories for age 9 and up readers. It tells about a seven-hundred-year-old wizard Greum Barrach and his grand-grand-grand-and some more grands-son Paul. How they get to know each other and how Greum tells him about his magical adventures, lifting the curtain of mysteries by introducing him to the world of fairies, dragons, women warriors, magical mirrors and a time when a man could make a fire simply by snapping his fingers. All profits go to charity.
We, Authors For Charity, decide the charity objects together. In 2013 all profits go to Children’s Epilepsy Unit in Turku, Finland; 2014 to breast cancer unit in Suffolk, England. We all know someone in need of a helping hand. Someone with a disorder, cancer or who’s lost a loved one and need all the support she/he can have. So, why not do something about it? It’s the little things you do that can make a difference. By Lisa Day ‟Is this seat open?” A male voice asked. Mumbling through the napkin Lisa answered yes and indicated with her free hand for whoever spoke to have a seat. ‟Thanks, when your finished drying your eyes maybe you can tell me why women always seen to cry at weddings?” He said. Great the man thinks I’m crying. She put down the napkin and turned to tell this buffoon she wasn’t crying about the wedding. Even though she kind of was, but not for the reason he thought. He never acknowledged her mouth hanging open, so unladylike, as she sat gapping at him. He was the most gorgeous hunk of a man she ever laid eyes on. ‟Hi, my name is Brad and you are?” She must have answered because the next thing he said was ‟Nice to meet you, Lisa. Would you care to dance?” She must have answered because they were standing, and he had her hand in his while leading them to the dance floor. That’s when she realized he was dressed in blue jeans and a pullover shirt. If the disappointment showed on her face she didn’t care. One dance and she’d be done with him, she decided. What kind of man dresses like this for an affair like this? A Jerk that’s who. Of course, the jerk knew how to dance and not once did he even come near stepping on either teal green shoe, nor even the teal green shoe snug across the black toe. Lisa didn’t need to be told, he held her like a man who knows how to hold a woman and wondered what it would feel to be held...never mind...your moving on after this first and last dance. He told her works in acquisitions. Lisa heard he collects unemployment checks. He told her he arrived late due to a delay in flights. Lisa heard he was late because he ran out of gas. He told her he was Michael’s brother. Lisa heard he’s guilty of name dropping and party crashing… Continue to read the full short story by Lisa and the other seven authors whose stories are based around the intriguing lives of the guests who attend Ava and Michael’s wedding in 8 Slices of Cake. Exploring for dinosaurs By Melanie Toye Zac wakes up with a great idea. He invites his brother Alec to begin a day of exploring. My Imagination Space I love looking at images such as this one above. It reminds me that I live in an unlimited universe that is vibrated on energy. Energy of emotions, mindset and feelings. When I look into the evening sky on a clear night, I am reminded that all my wishes can come true. Believe yours can too.
Habit Seven: Sharpen the Saw A 4-part series By Jennifer Galletti Habit Seven is my favorite and, in opinion, the most important. As I mentioned in Habit Three, when managing your time and planning your day/week, always always always make time to take care of YOU. If you are not okay, every other area of your life will suffer. You cannot move mountains without strong tools. You have to make time to “work on the totality of your nature” (Covey, 1989). As discussed earlier, and as we all know, time is not something we have a plethora of, but this must make it to the top of that priority list. Your body is your 24/7 vehicle and if it is not well-maintained, let’s face it, nothing gets done. Make an effort to eat well, sleep, and exercise. A few minutes of yoga or Pilates before your morning shower can make a huge difference in how you feel, physically and mentally, for the rest of the day. I think we can all afford to spend 5 or 10 minutes a day doing something that is good for US. Yoga can help ease stressed muscles and strengthen your core, which has been proven to significantly reduce back pain and other common ailments. Plus, you get an excuse to buy those cute yoga pants! You will look and feel better everyday. Social and emotional health is dependant on your relationships with others. Make an effort to build meaningful connections: take some time out to call a friend or family member, go on a date, or have a conversation with your children. People need real interaction. We are just wired that way. Repair or rekindle relationships that have suffered senselessly long enough. You will feel better, happier, and more centered. Exercise your brain. There are several online sites designed to help us improve our memory and sharpen skills we do not use regularly. Try a Sudoku or crossword puzzle. Read. Mental health is crucial to our longevity! Exercising the brain keeps it young and helps reduce the risks of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Activating more areas of the brain helps us to think more critically, make better decisions, and even sleep more restoratively. Our spiritual health is oftentimes the most neglected. I do not mean go to church every Sunday, but kudos if you do! Spiritual health, in this sense, is reconnecting with yourself and with nature. Meditation is a wonderful way to reconnect to your body and mind and to get back in tune with yourself. Spend some time outdoors, whenever possible. Do some work on the porch if that is your only option. Look at the clouds or the stars every now and then. Remember how small you are in the grand
scheme of things and how awesome the natural world is. Listen to the birds. Breathe, smile, and relax. As often as possible. Download some soothing music and wear your iPod while you are washing dishes. Scrub, breathe, smile, and relax. Type, breathe, smile, and relax. Being aware of the tension in our bodies is the first step in eliminating it. Oh, and put your feet up! Coffee table, desk, ottoman- whatever, just do it. 10-15 minutes a day. Do it. In Habit One, we learned that we can choose our responses to stimuli. Make a conscious choice, every day, to be proactive, visionary, organized, compassionate, open-minded, and healthy. Write it on the mirror. Set a reminder alert on your cell phone that it is time to breathe, smile, and relax. Take responsibility for yourself and your place in the world, then make the most of it. Chose to be A Highly Effective Woman. View the previous editions to read habits 1 to 6.

Dreaming high to touch the sky By Anita Makaju
There always persists a dream in everyone’s thought to do something remarkable and to be someone praised by the rest of the world. Whatever the situation a person is going through or whoever the person is, he has got a dream to fly high in order to touch the realm of the stars. It naturally exists in people’s minds and they do tasks to get their dreams come true. Such kinds of dreams are kindly influenced by the environment too. There’s a certain environment that implants people’s mind with dreams; dreams to fly high, dreams to be world-renowned and dreams to touch the sky. When we look around our small world of friends and family members, we can find one thing common i.e. people start dreaming high right from their childhood. The right moment when my parents asked me what I wanted to do in my life and when I answered I want to be a doctor and want to serve people has stuck to my long term memory. At that time I was merely five years old I had got a dream greatly related to aim as we call during our childhood; a dream to be a doctor and to serve my nation, natives and the whole world. I was there with my mind full of thoughts to be praised for my welfare to the mankind. That was the dream my surrounding implanted in my brain because I was not the only one to have a dream simply what I termed as an aim. At that time the dream was not what I saw, it was something shown to me by other people and I guess it’s ridiculous to term the thing as a dream. In fact, the dreams I had been having from my early age were not so easy to be realized. We all pass through such series of situations when our dreams seem to be unrealistic, something that cannot be fulfilled or we can say impossible to be fulfilled. This happens when we continue growing older and come in contact with the realistic world. Our world expands from a small environment of Barbie, playthings and anime to an atmosphere full of obstacles, people of different nature following their dreams as we keep doing. We have to face various situations both positive and negative ones in course of moving forward in life. We realize our lives are filled with competitions and if we become unable to compete, someone else will take the
place where we wanted to be. We realize how much difficult it is to chase our dreams. In order to chase our own dreams we have to remain bounded to the compulsions full of responsibilities to the people related to us. The wishes and desires of other people come to first priority in our lives because we don’t want to be called selfish by them. While working for other people’s desires and aspirations, a situation comes when we get lost in their dreams forgetting what our own dreams are. It is said that the support of a family is a must for us to kiss our dreams in reality. Some people are so lucky to get full support of their family and they become able to kiss their dreams. Some other people dare a lot with their heart to fulfill their dreams on their own with their hard work, they become successful to perform the task of splitting the word ‘impossible’ to ‘I’m possible’. In both the cases, the people who become able to achieve their dreams inspire us and motivate us and develop a certain level of confidence in us and are often termed as idols, inspirer or motivator. We follow their principles to step forward in our lives and to continue chasing our dreams. A prodigious part of our lives is used up in following their ideologies, the path they chose to make their dreams come true but what we cannot comprehend at the right time is that our greatest inspirers and motivators are always right in front of our eyes. They include our parents and some portion of the motivating and inspiring characters are embedded within us. The only thing we need to do to build up confidence in our hearts and minds is to ascertain the real we. Talking about our parents they are the real heroes and idols working hard every moment to provide us a brighter future but we flop to understand this during the early stage of our lives. During childhood and teenage years, people take immediate decisions which turn to have negative effects I future and parents try to oppose us from jumping into that decision which is not long termed. For instance, seeing parents deny our judgment and put up a condition like “you can join the music band only after graduation”. After hearing our parents’ opinion what we all might think is “our parents are never going to support us in anything and they are just trying to ruin our aspirations and life” but at this time we forget that our parents are the ones paying for all our music and guitar lessons. The other thing what we don’t grasp at this stage is we have forgotten what dreams are defined as. A dream is something which we see ourselves but not the one which is shown to us by others whether it is because of peer pressure or imitation. Dreams are what our own mind visualizes not the ones which we imitate. The dreams which we impersonate are always those we see when we sleep at night. They are just the fantasy. Dreaming high to touch the jurisdiction of sky is something which provides a meaning to our lives. Not all the dreams we see are satisfied. It takes a great deal of hard work and the spirit of self-assurance. There comes a period in everybody’s life when we cannot actually adopt what our dreams are. Our destination is pictured at the end of a dreary desert. Life seems worthless this time. Life becomes full of frustration and sadness when we cannot determine what our dreams are. Lacking the determination of what we actually want to do and be, life becomes worthless. It is necessary to have dreams in order to succeed in life. To have our dreams rewarded, we must work hard. To reach the supreme position, we must have a strong heart full of confidence and hope. Confidence, hope and hard work if mingled approach us to peak of triumph. Dreaming high itself cannot do anything until and unless we set ourselves forth to labour hard. That’s the actual
meaning of life and key to an efficacious life. Respecting and following the opinions of our parents is what we should do next. They always try to do good for us. But we ought not to see the dreams what they show to us. We ought to see dreams what we want to do and what we want to be so that our lives become evocative. Of course, we should not feel any kind of hesitation to ask them for some suggestions and opinions to step forward in the path of chasing our aspirations. They provide us their precious opinions to step forward. With hard work and success coming forth, our parents understand the dream we chose is the right one for us and they become happy to see us being capable of chasing the dream. Here are few lines which always remind us about our dreams, “See the dream that you want Denying the rumor that you can’t With hard work and confidence always step forward Unwillingness of yours to step on the path makes you coward You, yourself have always been there to support your brain Even if you have to pass through hardships don’t let your dreams be insane With your hopes on your sides you can turn impossible into possible So dream high and never be shy to let them be accessible” I hope you all enjoyed the reading and as always “Dream high to touch the sky”.

Written by Melanie Toye Episode 4: The final round
Scene: Miss Mary Lou called Jeremiah and Chase into her office. Shelly was already inside when they arrived. Miss Mary Lou closed her door when Jeremiah and Chase walk in. She turns around. MISS MARY LOU: “Now you did well to cut out the wannabes from the semi-professionals in the last audition process. This is where it becomes harder. From those you chose for the second round, I need only three as the main characters, two men and one woman. Plus six other cast members to be extras. To eliminate the rest of the thirty you had sent to the second round, you must do another audition process. This process will be different from the short monologue they had to create and perform in the first stage. This time you will hold group activities. From here, you will be able to swift out the leaders from the followers. You will be able to see their acting abilities together as a group to make sure they can perform together, instead of having nine odd balls, all having different styles. Call the thirty back for auditions today, anyone who cannot make it can be immediately, cut. Any questions?” CHASE: (puts up his hand) “What will the group activities be?” MISS MARY LOU: “You can decide that amongst yourselves. You have no time to lose. Bye.” (She walks behind her desk and sits down to read the next class tutorial.) Scene: Jeremiah and Chase stand and walk out. As they step out of Miss Mary Lou’s office, Shelly stands in front of them. SHELLY: “I will book a spare room for the auditions. You guys call the people to audition.”
(walk away.) Jeremiah (pulls the list of people out from his bag.) “Here you call ten and I will too.” CHASE: (nods in agreement.) Scene: In the hallway Jeremiah and Chase are making calls. Shelly walks back. She motions them to follow her, while they still talk on their mobiles. As they walk into the room, Jeremiah hangs up with his final call. JEREMIAH: “This will work.” (He moves some tables to the side and pulled some chairs into two circles.) SHELLY: “What did you have in mind for the group activity?” JEREMIAH: “I was thinking three activities should be enough. Two in separate groups and then one with everyone together.” SHELLY: “That could work.” CHASE: (starts laughing loudly, while chatting on his mobile.) “Of course baby.” JEREMIAH: (shakes his head.) SHELLY: “Is he always like that?” JEREMIAH: “He has been like that ever since he hit puberty.” SHELLY: (rolls her eyes.) Scene: Eighteen people soon arrive and the others could not make it. Shell splits the two groups, one with ten and one with eight. JEREMIAH: “Each group must create their own short play of three minutes. The topic is your first day at College. Each person must be involved. You have ten minutes to collaborate. Go.” Scene: The three judges circle the groups slowly and note take the leaders within the groups. SHELLY: (checks watch. Nods to Jeremiah.)
JEREMIAH: “Time is up. Group one, you are first. Everyone else take a seat behind me. Scene - Group one has some actors standing and some sitting. When one actor speaks, the groups focus is on the speaker, to draw the added attention to each thought. ACTOR ONE: “My first day was harder than I expected.” ACTOR TWO: “I got lost as soon as I arrived.” ACTOR THREE: “I didn’t realise how much hard work and extra study I would have to do.” ACTOR FOUR: “I miss my old friends.” ACTOR FIVE: “I really love it here, it makes me want to cry.” ACTOR SIX: “Everyone is so nice.” ACTOR SEVEN: “My lecturer is hot.” ACTOR EIGHT : “I feel like I am starting from the bottom all over again.” ACTOR NINE: “I wonder if Mum will still do my laundry on the weekends?” ACTOR TEN: “I cannot wait to be living my dreams.” JEREMIAH, CHASE, SHELLY (silently take notes.) JEREMIAH “Thank you Group One. Group Two, you are up.” Group Two (Walk to the space). ACTOR11: “Hey, I am Todd.” ACTOR 12: “Hey Todd, I am Chelsea. Are you new here?” ACTOR 11: “First day.” ACTOR 12: “Oh. I only associate with people who are in their last term.”
(Puts her nose in the air to snub him and walks off.) ACTOR 11: “Hey, I am Todd.” ACTOR 13: “Sarah. What are you studying?” ACTOR 11: “Physiology.” ACTOR 13: “I am majoring in Law. I won’t have to time to hold your hand.” (walks off.) ACTORS 14,15,16: (Walk up to Todd.) “Stick with us and we will be buddies for life.” ACTOR 11: “Cool. What are you studying?” ACTORS 14,15,16: “Studying?” (They look at each other and laugh.) “Oh man, you must have taken us to the college by mistake.” (each rub their eyes and walk off.) ACTORS 17,18: (walk up to Todd.) “Hey.” ACTOR 11: “It’s okay. I get it. Everybody is too busy to make friends.” ACTORS 17,18: “Actually man, we saw your first day has been pretty rough. Not all of us are like you witnessed. We all are studying Physiology too. We would be happy to show you around?” ACTOR 11: “Seriously?” ACTORS 17,18: (All nod together.) JEREMIAH: “Thanks everyone, please take a seat.” (calls over SHELLY and Chase outside in the corridors.) “I don’t think we will need to do another activity. I think we can choose from here, what do you both think?” SHELLY & CHASE (nod in agreement.) JEREMIAH, SHELLY & CHASE (walk back into the room.) “The nine actors in the show will be.” (points the chosen people).
“Thank you and that’s a wrap. Miss Mary Lou will be in touch.” Scene: One girl breaks down. ACTOR FIVE: “Why not me? My father is going to be furious. Do you know who I am?” SHELLY (guides her out the door quickly. She closes it and breathes out heavily.) “Wow, do you know who she is?” CHASE: “No.” JEREMIAH: (shakes his head.) SHSELLY: “Ha. Me neither.” Scene: They walk to Miss Mary Lou’s office and give her the final list. MISS MARY LOU: “Any concerns I should be aware about?” SHELLY: “There was one girl who was outraged and I think her father might call.” MISS MARY LOU: “Oh that must be Susan she uses her father’s name for everything. Don’t worry, I will deal with her. Thank you for being my judges. I will get our finance officer to send you your payments by the end of the week.” CHASE: “Let us know if you have any other tasks, you may want to pay us for. Especially if it includes hot chicks.” JEREMIAH: (nudges Chase in the ribs with his elbow.) CHASE: “Ouch.” Scene: All three leave the room. Chase again immediately finds some woman to flirt with. While Jeremiah awkwardly looks to Shelly and shrugs his shoulders.
Scheduling your day
The experts of de-stress recommend you should only have three tasks a day to work towards. I recommend whatever your schedule looks like you need to add ten minutes in the morning and ten minutes in the afternoon to simply take time out. Get away from it all and everyone. Clear your mind, release your worries and for a moment remind yourself of one dream you would love to accomplish, no matter how big it is. Just visualise how you would feel once you achieved it. I bet it makes you smile. It’s important to smile in life. This all sounds so simple, that’s because it is. Do not underestimate the power of mentally recharging your batteries throughout the day. You will be surprised at how more fresh and vibrant you will feel. And less de-stressed because your mind has calmed from the mental rush of a busy day. Busy is okay, as long as it is towards what you want from life and you take regular breaks to avoid being over worked. This will also help you, if you take home the stress of your work to home life. It is no fun when you are stressing all day and night. And it begins to show in your lifestyle and health. Take out ten minutes twice a day and see the benefits. You may even notice the positive effects after the first day.

Invisible By Melanie Toye
I wonder if you miss me or even have moments where you remember me in your life. I miss you. It began only a year ago. We met, we became friends and soon we lived out of each other’s pockets. You were my best friend and at that, my only true friend. When I would meet up with you, I would pre-plan for the event and take something I know you would like. I enjoyed hearing about your life, your hardships and watching you laugh. The truth is I fell in love with you. Not sexually but personably. I tailored my whole week around our get togethers, so I would not miss on seeing you. And then as the months flew by, you began to meet up with other friends and I saw less of you. I still was optimistic and jumped at every chance I could to see you. But time drew on, I didn’t want to admit it, but I knew that you had found other friends you enjoyed the company of more. Perhaps I wasn’t good enough for you. Perhaps you were just meeting with me because you had no one else to see. Then you invited your friends on our time together. I could see you had more fun with them and so I began to distance myself. I wanted to spend time with you, only you. But you didn’t want me. I became invisible to you. It was then I stopped our contact, you didn’t seem to notice or maybe even care. But that time hurt the most. Ending a relationship that perhaps to you, was not even real. I still wonder when I think of you, if you ever think of me. I wonder if we would still be friends. And I wonder if we were still together, if you would feel the same way as I feel about you. But then again, if you did love me, this time would not go on and on without us together. So with that, I say goodbye my friend. I have to move on, to someone who will want to spend time with me. Invisible I will be no longer. Click here to view books written by Melanie Toye.
