About Memoria
“Memoria has a mission to provide exceptional standards of service, facility and products to the bereaved families that use its funeral directing services, crematoria, cemeteries gardens of remembrance, financial & legal services or online retail store. This is because it is not only commercially sensible to do so but also because it is an essential act of human decency towards people who have just lost a much loved member of their family or friend. Bereavement is the price we must all pay for the joy of loving and being loved. The loss of a loved one is the most stressful, unhappy and traumatic experience that we will face in life. We at Memoria realise that we are unable to eradicate such pain but we also know it is our responsibility and duty to be as efficient, kind, respectful and polite as humanly possible to our clients at their time of grief, and thereafter when they need to conclude estate matters for their cherished relatives or friends. Therefore it is our aim to provide immaculately clean and tidy facilities in tranquil and beautiful surroundings attended by people who are sincerely dedicated to our mission, and who take a great pride in their work as a result.”

Media Systems
Music has always played an important part at funeral services, perhaps more so today than ever. It is used, not just to accompany hymns, but to also personalise a service in celebration of a loved one’s life by the playing of songs or music that are associated with him or her evoking fond memories, as well as marking the love felt for them to those attending their service.
Memoria has augmented tradition with technology by offering a state of the art media system, which provides:
• An almost infinite music library
• Large screen television. This gives an opportunity for video/audio playback and a recording facility to either be used for the showing of lifetime photographs or the pre-recording of a eulogy
• A live web-cast which enables those unable to attend in person due to distance or illness to watch the service live no matter where they are in the world
Therefore, not only can a traditional hymn be professionally played on a digital piano/organ, with or without a choir, but also other music can be selected and performed by the preferred artist through our high quality Bose sound system.
An audio recording of the service can be made and supplied either on disc or USB, extra copies may be ordered if desired.

Our History
Located in the west end of Paisley, Memoria Paisley Woodside Memorial Park and Crematorium offers a unique atmosphere and is steeped in local and national history. With its treelined pathways, secluded corners and peaceful gardens combine to make the facility a memorable place both to visit and to celebrate a life.
Woodside Cemetery was laid out in 1845 to a design drawn up by Stewart Murray, curator of Glasgow Botanic Gardens. Situated on a low hill-top position between Woodside House and Ferguslie House, and offering stunning vistas of the surrounding area, the “garden cemetery” extends to just over 20 acres and now incorporates the recently built Martyr’s Church and the adjacent Covenanter Martyrs Memorial. Murray’s design was inspired by the earlier garden cemetery, The Glasgow Necropolis, which also took its inspiration from Pere Lachaise, the first hill-top garden cemetery, in Paris, laid out in 1804 by AlexandreTheodore Brongiart.
In 1938 a new, purpose-built crematorium, designed by the well-known local architect James Steel Maitland was completed. At that time, it was regarded as one of the finest buildings of its kind anywhere in the country; it was opened on 28th October 1938 by the Rt, Hon. Lord Salveson. Due to its heritage it has now been given listed status. The Crematorium serves not only the Paisley and Renfrewshire areas but also North Ayrshire, West Glasgow and beyond. The Crematorium has three gardens of remembrance, the most recent of which the Woodland Garden, incorporates a memorial sculpture dedicated to baby and infant loss. Paisley Cemetery Company commissioned local sculptor Robert Coia to design and create the memorial.
