Letter from the Board Chairman ABOUT MEMORIAL PARK CONSERVANCY

Dear Friends of Memorial Park Conservancy:

As one of the largest urban parks in the nation, Memorial Park is a destination for more than 4 million people annually. It offers a unique combination of amenities and nature, recreation and respite. At 1,500 acres, Memorial Park is nearly twice the size of New York’s Central Park, serving some 170 zip codes within Harris and surrounding counties. Since its inception in 1924, Memorial Park has been recognized primarily as a nature-oriented park; however, Houstonians from across the metro area gather to enjoy all manner of sports and recreation, including exploration of the urban forest and riparian edge. On a daily basis, thousands of Houstonians enjoy the Park’s signature Seymour Lieberman Exer-Trail, Houston’s most utilized outdoor recreational wellness resource. MPC engages more than 3,000 demographically diverse volunteers, and communicates regularly with stakeholders and user groups.
