WHAT ARE THE DEGREE OPTIONS? An internationally leading professional music school, we have what you need. The four year bachelor of music degree combines the highest musical excellence in an intimate setting of student and faculty collaboration. From day one you will experience close mentorship to fast track your musical development, professional opportunities to build your career, and a program that equips you with the skills, knowledge and courage to create your musical future. To best serve your musical ambitions, tailor your program through the following majors: • Performance • Composition • Musicology (music history, world music, jazz and popular music) • Joint major in performance and musicology • Major in performance with a minor in composition • General music studies • Comprehensive major (for students pursuing specialized study in music education) For future music teachers, we offer the conjoint bachelor of music – bachelor of music education program. An intensive five-year program preparing K-12 music teachers, you work towards the comprehensive major in the B.Mus. degree and complete the B. Mus. Ed. degree in partnership with the Faculty of Education.
BECOMING A MUSIC STUDENT You need a passion for musical excellence, a drive for professional success and a background of performance and academic achievement. To apply, complete a general application to the university indicating your desire to enter the B.Mus. program. In addition, you need to submit a School of Music application form along with a statement of musical experience and career objectives. Entrance to the School of Music is by competition. Space is limited. You need to complete a performance audition (on site or remotely) and a series of tests for musical literacy and competency. Acceptance into the program is subject to meeting the general admission

Music and technology are inseparable. Here, you will benefit from dedicated music technology courses, a staff music technologist, and a school that hosts a leading electro acoustic research lab. In welcoming you to the School of Music, we offer our own orientation program. From start to finish, you will have a faculty advisor to assist you with course inquiries and selection and help you answer your questions about student life. You will also meet the vibrant Student Music Society, which organizes events and works with faculty to continuously enrich your experience at the School of Music. This is all in addition to Welcome Week and student services provided by Memorial University.
