Pickles & Chutney The academic year has almost come to an end now. The past 7 months of blogging have proven to become one of my biggest sources of inspiration. I follow my course mates to share our work and get some peer-to-peer guidance, help with idea generation, and give and receive feedback on each others’ work, I also follow a number of influential design companies, illustrators such as Type That I Like, Design Cloud, ID Magazine and We and the Colour. According to tumblr, my most liked and reblogged blogs are: • typethatilike (12%) They showcase a range of work within the Graphic Design industry including beautiful typeography, intricate branding and stationery design by renown designers and freelancers • 2headedsnake (8%) is an individual who enjoys and posts animation, illustration & collage • designcloud (7%) designcloud showcases work within design as a whole (rather than just Graphic Design): architecture, collages, unique furniture, graphic design, interior design, illustration, paintings and photography, typography and product design. • mrmcqueen (5%) a 21 year old graphic designer with a bachelors degree in New Zealand. • wowgreat (3%) • weandthecolour (3%) blog for inspiration in art, graphic design, illustration, photography, architecture, fashion, product, interior, video and motion design.

Even though motion design and interactive design are said to be the future of graphic design, I have a preference of print-based work more mainly because of the idea of possession; touching and holding the final outcome. This conclusion was drawn from my VCT essay; as much as I’d like to involve myself in interactive design, I’d prefer to create an actual object to be interactive with rather than a website or software.
In terms of tutors, the most help I received was from Viv and Steve from Icodesign; I suppose they were fresh minds introduced to us, and they had unique industrylevel methodology to introduce to us. However, after attending my last tutorial with Ben, I was told that he has noticed an improvement in attitude towards my work, which is obviously positive, general willingness to go out and research as well as ‘find’ inspiration rather than wait for it to come to me. I have also found that my time management has improved as well
