I am an art lover and a graduated student from Nottingham Trent University undertaking Interior Architecture & Design. I treat my work like how I treat an artwork, appreciate it and work on it with passion. I am always searching for inspiration from the masterpiece of my favorite artists - Anthony Caro, MC Escher and Salvador Dali. I am also fascinated by the works of Carlo Scarpa on the level of detailing in architecture and his sense of aesthetic.

Design Studio | Year 4, Project 2 (Degree) ‘Weightless Platform’ A multi-sensory installation that inspired by swimming that allows the audience to interact and feel the space. The main function of this installation is to help people with aqua phobic to overcome their fear of water and encourage more people to swim. This installation contains two linked part, the main installation is the organic structure which sit right in the middle of the space, and another is the lighting feature that surrounding and illuminate the space. The organic structure will be filled with air and covered by transparent PVC fabric. It can be interacted by sitting, walking or lying, as long as part of the body touches the surface, by giving the audience to experience the ‘weightless’ and the sense of freedom when inside the water. At the same time, the lighting feature which showing the water ripples bring the sense of calm and relaxing, as well as an atmosphere like inside the water. This is to show that swimming is not just about exercise, it is about maintaining a healthy mental health as well, by letting the mind through the water. The combination of light and “water” bring a message to audience about the essence of life when we are swimming. There will be sound of water playing along as the background music which enhances the whole sensory experience. The installation can be placed at both interiors and any public outdoor spaces.

Design Studio | Year 2, Project 2 (Degree) Sculp-vilion, the evolution of an abstract sculpture to an architectural pavilion. Derived from the term “sculpitecture” by Anthony Caro’s artwork, which bridges the dialogue between sculpture and architecture, a sculpture could allow people to experience from within, instead of just plainly viewing externally. Hence, the pavilion is designed for human experience, as well as a tribute to sculptural design. The interplay between scale and proportion disrupts the regularity of Old Market Square’s site context, drawing people towards the Sculp-vilion. The peak is triple the height of an ordinary human. The elevated platform creates a different zoning from the surrounding. Therefore, upon entering the pavilion itself, viewers are able to explore the distorted structure with the sense of touch. The angular elements create strong sense of depth for three-dimensional space experience. Furthermore, surrounding views are framed up based on personal interpretation, as every view point differs from one another. For materiality contrast, treated raw steel embodies the pavilion and extends down to seatings. The solid wooden planks are laid on the platform to tone down the coldness of the steel material.

Design Studio | Final Major Project (Diploma) Design Statement Ode-To-Art is an Asian contemporary art center which acts as gather point for artist and public. It is not just a place to showcase artwork, but also a platform to nurture creative discovery, learning and sharing through arts education and artist development. My design approach is to promote significant engagement between the audience, artist and artwork - the interaction between people and artwork. Therefore, each area is unique and specially planned in accordance to how audiences engage with art and how spaces are able to bring out the best of the artwork. By using “contrast” as a design tool, viewers attention or interest is directed within the space, thus creating sense of illusion, excitement and drama. In order to achieve the greatest degree of hue contrast, bright and dark color tone are applied in the space. “Accent colors” are bold and vivid emphasis colors, especially red color. Moreover, the geometric shapes symbolize different ideas which lead the eyes from one design element to the next by creating movement, texture, and depth. The lighting effects are also essential to convey mood and emotion of a space which can also provide a high level of contrast where a series of light and shadow is formed.
