Selected Works of Mengting Ye Master of Landscape Architecture
“I do not know which to prefer The beauty of inflections or the beauty of innuendos, The blackbird whistling or just after” - Wallace Stevens
The passion for landscape architecture stems from my observation of public space and nature environment since I was a small child. I particularly interested in inspired and resilient outdoor public spaces that enhance communities and enrich people’s lives.

The new mode is based on an ancient productive wetland agriculture method in the southern of China, which is one of the most high-efficient agriculture method, maximizing nutrient utilization. This new mode do not have to rely on a third party operation system, instead, the original residents engage into the ecosystem of wetland in many ways. The new mode can ease the conflict and enhance cooperation of all stakeholders, then protect the wetland, promote the diversity.

Ocean Farming as Purifier: We are trying to use kelp and shellfish cultivation to eliminate water pollution in Phase I (2020-2035), at the same time, providing jobs and services for the homeless. Ocean Farming as Habitate for Salmon: Elliot Bay is the migration route of salmon. The kelp forest is an ideal habitat for salmon, providing foods and refuge. Ocean Farming for Productions: In Phase II (after 2035), once the water pollution is solved, kelp and shellfish can be productive. The economic benefit can support public service in Pier 48. An Alternative Future: Both the Seattle government and NGOs are contributing a lot to solve homeless issues. Once it is resolved. Pier 48 will be more dynamic and

Inspired by flow of nearby river through different types of topography, from mountain to reservoir, then across plain, and flow into sea in estuary. The experience of river flow just like the dynamic and richness of art. By imitating the nature landforms, the courtyard can support various kind of functions. Through the organization of the elements -terrain, water, planting, and material, creating a dynamic space with seasonal interests, teachers and students can get the sense of changing nature when they are in the courtyard or in the classroom.
