Mountain Hostel Arch 3100 Architecture Studio Fall 2019 Instructor Ping Xu Location : South Boulder Rocky Mountain, Colorado, USA
The inspiration for this hostel design comes from the spirit of wrestling culture, which is stable, unbreakable, and lasting. Mongolian history tells of the worship of mountain gods as a form of nature worship. The origin of this hostel design also comes from the story of mountain god worship. Wrestling is a Mongolian sport of comparative strength, endurance, and skill. At the same time, as the main content of the Nadam Conference of Mongolian grassland games, wrestling reflects the colors of Olympic solidarity and the competition of modern civilization. As the crystallization of nomadic culture, Mongolian wrestling culture is different from other nationalities. The Mongolian wrestling team often participates in international wrestling invitational tournaments and cultural exchanges. Boulder, with its high altitude and

excellent air quality, is ideal for the development and communication of Mongolian wrestling culture. Wrestling culture is an elegant sport developed and inherited from the struggle to conquer self and nature. The spirit of wrestling is the courage and determination to overcome difficulties, not afraid of a strong opponent, and won not proud of the mentality. This movement embodies the pure and unrestrained feelings of the Mongolian nationality. In Mongolian, wrestling means firm, unbreakable, and lasting. As a cultural heritage for thousands of years, we welcome the Mongolian wrestling team to Colorado for cultural exchange. This hostel is designed to provide them with accommodation.

ENTRANCE AND RECEPTION DESK
The shape of the overall hostel design allows enough sunshine in to the Atrium space. As a open space, this Atrium gathering central area provided the chance where people meet each other.
With an open view of the whole city, this place is a delightful entrance for visitors. As the first impression for the entire building, I want people can feel that they are really inside of the mountain and feel relax by this open view.
PLAZA This plaza connects a part of south mesa trail. As the functional extension to the south-east of this site, this plaza connects the first floor and the site. Also, A part of the second floor and third floor can enjoy this space.

Green House Architecture Studio Fall 2017 Instructor Rachel Lee Location : Boulder Creek, Colorado, USA
The location of Boulder Creek is a lovely place to spend spare time. This design contains a greenhouse and a classroom for the green species related lectures. The form develop process has simply split a circle of equal three parts. The classroom hides behind the greenhouse because it needs a quiet space. The public entrance in front of the greenhouse, which allows sunlights comes in for the greenhouse. This open space also allows the visitor to access the view of boulder creek.

Other Works Design process
The theme is to find the divine light at night in everyday life. About the light at night that we don’t notice in our daily lives. When we go out the door at night, all the lights, the stars, the moon will make us feel warm. So my theme is to record these warm lights.
I I understand “hurt as something that injures the heart. The circle in the centre represents the heart, and the thorns in the periphery represent everything that hurts the heart. The centre of the ring has some space for breath, which gives little hope to get out of this hurt feeling. Goal The goal of this emotion is making people feeling of hurt without understanding by the word. By creating this condense and uncomfortable composition following the circle, which also means trying to break complete(loop).
