AQUASCUTUM MEN’S SS 16 - LMC
John Emary was a man of innovation. He was always looking at how cloth could be used in unexpected ways. For the Spring Summer 2016 collection we followed this same path, taking fabric usually associated with other experiences and reinterpreting them for the modern world. This season the brand’s iconic check is deconstructed and then updated, using it as a print both on outerwear pieces and linen and piquet for tailoring. The Aquascutum men’s wardrobe is made up of essential everyday items that have been subtly reimagined through detail and fabrication. Rip stop is used to create extremely light yet functional outerwear for the ever changing climate. Delicate fabrics like silk have been given PU coating for a fluid modern touch and are used for clean straight car coats which are finished with a self lining and suede under collar. Inspired by garments Aquascutum made for the Rolling Stones in the 1980’s, the collection includes items with hand embroidery. Iconic trench coats are made in silk with hand stitched contrast neps whilst tailoring, jersey and scarves have delicate floral embroidery reminiscent of a hazy
summer’s day in London. Tailoring continues to surprise with details such as fine jacquard weaves and mother of pearl buttons. Blazers are designed with a higher breakpoint for the season and the collection is styled with trouser lengths sitting above the ankle for summer. Styled with Made in England Black brogues or suede and leather slip-on loafers. Suede blousons are detailed with hand-painted overprints and shirts are made from Sea Island Cotton and Voile. Knitwear is overprinted, or in 18 gauge Italian cashmere. This season Aquascutum has collaborated with Cutler and Gross to produce a limited and focused collection of sunglasses. Key styles include iconic wayfarers, and aviators with hand stitched leather arms. The colors of the styles tie in with the season’s subtle palette , navy acetate frames with dark brown lenses or matt green acetate frames with graphite grey lenses. The collection is styled to retain the brand’s formal background of tailoring but offers a sporty edge.

HELEN ANTHONY’S SS16 COLLECTION
Menswear designer, Helen Anthony, is set to release their second collection into the luxury menswear market for their Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Caught in a symbiosis of mellow tailoring and strong, electronic hues, spring is swept in by Helen Anthony’s eclectic approach to tailoring. The capsule collection is highlighted by ‘the’ or ‘a’ seafloor of vibrant corals in fresh, lime-greens and gleaming yellows. Clownfish often swim along these coral gardens, bringing in the collection’s two other accents, orange and white. The flamboyant double-breasted tailoring seeks it’s inspiration from the 1970’s, whilst defining the period within a modernistic design of flappatched pockets with pleats and hand detailed finished on the notch and peak lapel. The finely cuffed trousers are cut to reveal the ankles of the man and perfectly compliment the tailored jackets, setting a new precedent in men’s contemporary fashion. Together with the oceanic inspiration of colour, Helen Anthony draws out the wonderful hues and shades that compliment both
the gentleman and the garment. Trench coats with knife pleats all around ripple across the wearer’s body, whilst leather jackets are perforated in geometric, sports-luxe patterning; square shaped holes cleansing the jacket’s structure into something more graphic. A sleeveless, white double-breasted jacket captures the maelstrom of Anthony’s soft, reserved designs. The colours garner interest, with the details settling and living in harmony, much like the clownfish and the anemone. Only the finest materials are swept within the current of Anthony’s contemporary influences, whilst staying true to the designer’s own roots. All suits are made of 100% British wool, weaved from the select mills of Scabal. Nappa lamb leather jackets anchor the brands playful aesthetic by washing it with edgier architectures, perforated by structured cubist influences, culminating in a denim style leather jacket that remains boyant with utilitarian waves, washing ashore with removable arms and band collar zips.

JAMES LONG SS 16 COLLECTION
Individuality and creative freedom are at the heart of JAMES LONG Spring/Summer 2016, energetic clothes that are wearable, covetable, highly realised and unashamed. “I was looking at people who are so natural in their clothing, they think they’re blending in, but they’re totally not,” said James. “There’s a real freedom to it.” Lightweight dinner jackets come in lightweight camo nylon or a cotton paisley chinoisierie print, worn with ruffle shirts as if still going from the night before. These are matched with track pants or gym shorts for a new take on informally formal dress. Clashes and collages of broken lines and grids decorate knitwear, such as hooded jacquard robe cardigans, while jacquard broken line sweaters have side zips, or zips at the neck.
Denim is as crucial as ever, whether it’s tie-dyed jeans or a watercolour handpainted denim jacket. Elsewhere denim mimics regency pinstripes, before being cut into chevron panels for a patchworked denim jacket. Leather hoodies are cropped for a sporty feel, while sweatshirts and trackpants are emblazoned in a vivid neon scribble print specially drawn by James Davison. It’s a collection of special pieces, whether it’s the waistcoats to be worn with beach shorts, or the sweatshirts made from a specially woven cloth made a haze from the vivid colours of the collection. Meanwhile a spring coat is made from a free-formed patchwork that defines the spirit of the season. Cutaway and tassled trainers are a collaboration with FILLING PIECES.

MATTHEW MILLERS SS 16 COLLECTION
The words ‘Conform’, ‘Control’ and ‘Restrict’ form the backbone of Matthew Millers’ SS16 collection, emerging from the designer’s frustrations with red tape and the systems that enforce this uniquely modern restraint. The resulting uniforms of today’s collection twist and contort around the human form, representing the rigidity of contemporary life and the restrictions on our freedom and movement. As such the clothing is a multitude of clashing textures juxtaposed with a restrained, borderline neutral palette that acts as a distorted reflection of the colors of business attire. All materials used merge the aesthetic that has resulted from Matthew’s abstract concerns with the practicality of everyday use. A blend of cotton and metal appears to be coarse and brittle but is surprisingly fluid in motion, whilst distressed and creased linen contorts the body.

SHINE HAMBURG BAGS FOREVER
Founded in September 2014, the label defines itself through minimalistic Design with the focus on the actual highlight – the material and the perfect workmanship. The Czech Designer Gabriela Philipp combines the influences of two cosmopolitan cities – the vibrant Shanghai/China - her home for seven years - and the stylish Hanseatic city of Hamburg, her current residence. The Asian minimalistic Design and the classical chic of hamburger merchandisers is shown in every piece of the collection. “Shine Hamburg” pays tribute to traditional values such as honest handcraft, high quality leather and timeless style. The aim of the designer is to
create a fashion piece that would last a life time. The leather used in collections is vegetable tanned, using olives leaves in the tanning process. It originates from Bavaria and excels with its haptics and a beautiful smell. The natural structure of the Italian buffalo leather is the eye catcher. The 3D-structure of the leather is enhanced through a repeated shrinkage of the buffalo skin in a hot water, making the leather extremely robust. The entire collection is produced in a family run manufacture in the Czech Republic, hand sewn, making every bag unique. “Shine Hamburg”- bags forever

VAVA Eyewear
The spirit of VAVA eyewear is derived from today’s post-industrial society, the growing belief of belonging to a post-human age and time the techno movement. In an environment of highspeed culture, turbo capitalism, media overload, digital revolution, ecstasy of consumption, mega trends and accelerated culture, VAVA eyewear represents deceleration, purism and metaphysics. The structure and design of the eyewear is not just physical but creative. It permits the wearer the spiritual space to focus on a ‘mind over matter’ asceticism and a personal dose of reinterpreted perspective. They strive for a contemporary pared back look in conjunction with the futurism, conceptualism and purism that is associated with Techno. The spirit of VAVA is based on the same principle: VAVA is conceptual and visionary in its essence. The collection is handmade at a small family-owned Italian factory and they pride themselves on avoiding mass production. This gives them the freedom of creation and ensures outstanding quality. The product that comes out
is timeless, strong, refined and far from the logic of the fast fashion and disposable item. The absolute quality is the basic rule of VAVA. Every piece is realized pursuant to a process that sees the use of sophisticated technologies and the aid of handcrafted procedures, like the assembly, completely handmade. An union between man and machinery that recall the dialectic between animated and aseptic, between human sensibility and mechanical-digital precision. The hinge is obtained by milling aerospace Aluminia.A laborious process that requires long time and perfect manual practice. Lenses are made by crystal, unbreakables, antireflection, waterproof and totally flats. This last characteristic allows the wearer to acquire a sort of ascetic style. The 10 new models that add the others already present on the market are the continuation of a collection conceived to be progressively fueled. The purest shape become the base for working on a deep analisys about geometrical forms, with the intent of define new, radical concepts in the eyewear’s designing

#BA LMAIN ATION
BALMAIN FOR H&M Balmain was founded in 1945 by french designer Pierre Balmain. The brand was then considered one of the most prestigious in France, having many clients like Brigitte Bardot and Ava Gardner. It wasn’t until the young designer Olivier Rousteing took over the brand in 2011 that Balmain has become one of the most successful and iconic brands in fashion nowadays. Being known for their intricate and elaborate pieces, full of embroidery, beading and luxury leather, Olivier accepted the challenge to make a collaboration with H&M. This collection is full of key pieces seen through the last years at Balmain’s previous collections, such as military jackets, velvet blazer, leather pants and gold accessories. The collection that will hit stores at November fifth is a reflection of the Balmain’s essence and ideal of fashion and luxury, giving people an oportunity to buy Balmain pieces at a much more affordable price.
