Across 2016 and 2017, Diamond Select Toys released three exclusive Ghostbusters Select figures of Ray, Peter and Winston covered in Marshmallow from the end of the 1984 movie. These were offered as exclusives in the main, and as single releases with no diorama pieces. Now it has been confirmed that we will finally get a Marshmallow covered Egon to complete the set. Infinite Earths broke the news that the new Egon was on its way and confirmed it would be a Previews exclusive available via comic book stores and independents. At present there is no release date.
After announcing the three Infinity War releases of Thor/Groot, Captain America and Iron-Spider in their Select line, Diamond did drop hints about another figure from the movie. It seems this other figure is none other than Iron-Man in the Mk50 suit - complete with nano-weaponry.
A Diamond Select Toys Release! The 1984 horror-comedy classic Ghostbusters is as beloved now as it ever was, and this action figure captures one of its most iconic moments! The most serious and strait-laced of the Ghostbusters, Egon Spengler gets covered with marshmallow in this 7-inch scale action figure inspired by the film's final scenes. This figure features newly sculpted parts and 16 points of articulation, plus alternate hands, proton pack, neutrino wand and display base. Sculpted by Gentle Giant!
Iron-Man is a Disney Store Exclusive as we can see from the packaging, which explains why he has not been formally announced with Disney preferring to announce the figure pretty much as it goes on sale in store. As we go to press there is no formal confirmation from Diamond Select or Disney, but these are being found across Disney Stores in the US.
In a follow up to last years exclusive Scream Factory figure exclusive, NECA have confirmed today a sequel figure for the Bluray release of Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2. Funko have confirmed four more figures to join their Disney Afternoon range of characters. The next four will be available almost immediately and include Gizmoduck from Duck Tales, King Louie from Talespin, Gadget from Rescue Rangers and Launchpad from Darkwing Duck.
Scream Factory will release the collectors edition of Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 on December the 11th, and with the limited edition set fans can also get an 8" NECA figure of Ricky / Killer Santa. As per previous Scream Factory exclusives, these will be limited to the US only.
Relive the glory of youth and afternoons spent watching your favorite Disney cartoons. Better still, reenact moments from your favorite shows with these Disney Afternoon action figures. Gizmoduck needs your assistance stopping crime. Gadget’s more than capable of flying the Rescue Rangers in and out of danger, and keeping their plane in tiptop shape between adventures. King Louie’s probably taking it easy at Louie’s Place, if you happen to need him for some amiable conversation. And Darkwing Ducks’ pilot Launchpad McQuack is an eager and able sidekick.
McFarlane have revealed the first four 7 inch figures from their new Fortnite licence. We had seen the Cuddle Team Leader at New York Comic Con, and at that point knew the other three figures would be Skull Trooper, Black Knight and Raptor. Each figure comes with 18+ points of articulation and appropriate weaponry. They will include a Fortnite display stand as well as glossy Fortnite window box packaging. Checkout more details at McFarlane.com and expect these in stores some time in November.
The nightmare is about to begin…again. “Santa” is back in the sequel to the infamous 1984 cult classic and horror holiday favorite. Scream Factory will also offer a limited edition set that includes a poster, slipcover and the exclusive Ricky/Killer Santa action figure from NECA, available for pre-order on shoutfactory.com. NECA have revealed the packaging design for the upcoming 2-pack of Dark Horse Predators Bad Blood and Enforcer. This is an Ultimate release and therefore the figures include alternative head sculpts with new heads sculpted for this release. There are also a selection of hand options and weaponry. NECA have released a series of gritty promotional images for their upcoming 2018 Halloween Michael Myers figure. The masked killer comes complete with trademark knife as well as a hammer and poker. There is also a Judith Myers headstone and a light up Pumpkin accessory. The figure is due for release in late November, with pre-orders being taken at many retailers including our affiliate partners Zavvi
The set is due for imminent US release. Expect UK stocks around November / December. It’s another NECA first – an “Ultimate” action figure two-pack! We’ve upgraded our first action figures from Dark Horse’s Predator: Bad Blood comic book series and given them new Ultimate bodies and new exclusive accessories (in addition to all previously released accessories). Ultimate Bad Blood and Ultimate Enforcer each have two interchangeable head sculpts: Bad Blood has a new masked head and Enforcer has a new unmasked head. Figures stand approximately 8″ tall and feature new, less stylized deco and over 25 points of articulation.
The Thermal Image Fugitive Predator figure from NECA is confirmed as a late February 2019 release (approx). The details were in a listing from UK retailer Curibo who are taking pre-order deposits. The figure is based on the image from the 2018 movie poster and will stand 20cm tall. It includes wrist blades and shoulder cannon and will come in the window box packaging. We await full details from NECA.
NECA have confirmed details of their Generic Street Scene diorama set which will be released in Quarter 1 of 2019. The set started as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle set at SDCC, and as promised this is a generic general release for fans of multiple licences and works with figures from 6 inch to 9 inch in scale - although I personally think the set starts to look undersized with some of the 7 inch figures used on the promotional photos Take your action figure collection to the next level with this incredible diorama piece! Create amazing scenes from your favorite movies, TV shows and more with this huge Street Scene Diorama, sized to work with most action figures from 6 to 9 inches tall.
NECA have announced they are releasing a third version of their Pennywise Clown from the 2017 remake of IT. The first release and subsequent Gamestop exclusive will be followed by this new version in early 2019 dubbed the "Well House" Pennywise. As an Ultimate Release, the Well House Pennywise will come in window box packaging with opening flap to reveal the figure within. The figure includes four variant head options with one head being engineered so a fence post can be placed through it. There is a new "monster" right hand and new grabbing hands included.
The piece is huge, measuring 2 feet wide and a foot deep. It stands 18 inches tall and is designed as essentially a three dier display that NECA claim can house more than 30 figures at once. It will need some assembly upon receipt. At over 2 feet wide, over 18 inches tall, and over a foot deep, it's massive enough to display more than 30 figures at once. The three levels offer multiple display options, plus it has clear window panels and a full color cardboard backdrop. Some assembly required. The display is not cheap at $109.99 on Big Bad Toy Store. That would bring the UK price somewhere around the £99 mark give or take.
From the acclaimed 2017 horror film IT, drawn from the pages of Stephen King’s original novel, NECA presents #Pennywise the Dancing Clown! Based on Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of the nightmare-inducing clown, this 7” scale figure has been painstakingly detailed to be as accurate to Pennywise’s ornate costume as possible. To recreate even more of the most terrifying scenes from the movie, this version features 4 all-new head sculpts, a fencepost that can be inserted into one of the heads, a new monster right hand, new grabbing hands, and an additional new left hand. This edition comes in collector-friendly deluxe window box packaging with opening flap.
Mezco have revealed a brand new One:12 Comic Book Iron-Man figure as an exclusive for LA Comic Con in November. The exclusive uses the existing sculpt, but with the black and gold of the Model 42 from the Marvel Now series.
The figure includes metal parts and a light up feature for the arc reactor. It is also packed full of booster and blaster effects including an awesome clip on piece for the arc reactor which will look illuminated once connected.
The reason to make this an exclusive release is unclear, other exclusives have usually been a tweaked or recoloured existing figure. Making this so hard to get may backfire on Mezco with the MCU collectors. The figure has sold out presently at its $85 RRP but you can join the waitlist on the Mezco Website (US collectors). If you are lucky enough to get one of these on pre-order then it is due to ship in late December or early January/February 2019.
The figure was available briefly online via Mezco for $90 but has sold out and is on "wait list"
The One:12 Collective Iron Man: Armor Model 42 Edition features a light-up function that illuminates Iron Man’s arc reactor, the source of his power. Designed with real metal components, the armored Avenger’s comes equipped with a range of booster and blast effects, including a chest beam repulsor that lights up when attached to the arc reactor.
The One:12 Collective Spider-Man: Homecoming - Homemade Suit Edition captures Peter Parker in the early stages of his newfound heroism and includes both a masked and unmasked head, featuring the likeness Tom Holland. The web-slinger is outfitted in a body suit, a hooded vest with functional drawstrings and spider insignia, as well as web shooters affixed to both wrists. Spider-Man comes complete with two different style weblines that attach to his web-shooting hands and a posable webline that he can hold. Distracted by the thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Peter Parker navigates his newfound identity all while trying to maintain the life of an average high school student.
The other reveal in Paris was a Chewbacca for the 3.75" Vintage Collection. Chewbacca looks to be a straight up repack onto the Vintage card having originally been released on the older Black Series 3.75" Tie Fighter card back. He will come with his Bowcaster. Both figures are 2019 releases.
Hasbro have revealed an Attack of the Clones Padme Amidala figure for the Star Wars Black Series at Paris Comic Con, one of what we hope are more prequel figures promised before to be unveiled before the end of 2018. Padme comes with what appears to be a removable cloak and a small blaster. While the promo image has had a mixed response, these images from the Hasbro booth in Paris leave me in no doubt over how good this figure looks.
Good news for Star Wars Black Series collectors with the release of this promotional poster from Disney Stores. It shows three exclusive Black Series figures coming to Disney Stores in November. Zuckuss, Captain Phasma and the FX Stormtrooper were originally planned to be Toys R Us Exclusives - and remain so in Canada - but were picked up by Disney Store after the collapse of Toys R Us in the USA. We would hope the same release applies to UK and other countries as Disney Store are usually consistent worldwide with their product releases. We do await this being confirmed, but might be time to start keeping a close eye on the Disney Stores near you.
At their Friday panel at Paris Comic Con 2018, Hasbro confirmed three brand new 6 inch Marvel Legends figure for release in 2019. First was a classic comic book Loki who will be part of an Avengers wave in 2019.
Hasbro have shared the promotional images of the Star Wars Black Series Archive figures announced at New York Comic Con. Anakin Skywalker, Yoda and the Biker Scout will arrive in Autumn 2019 and alongside the earlier wave of Luke X-Wing, Bossk, IG88 and Boba Fett will be the only Archive releases for 2019.
Hasbro have revealed two new Marvel Legend figures at MCM London Comic Con (with more to come, check out our news feed). These were snuck into a display cabinet and appear to be a 6-armed Spider-Man and a Puma figure and it seems these will potentially be filling up slots in the Kingpin BAF wave? More details online, or in Issue 91 (10th November)
We then had confirmation of the final line up for the Captain Marvel wave with the final two slots being taken by Genis-Vell and Grey Gargoyle. They will join MCU figures of Captain Marvel, Starforce Commander, Nick Fury and Talos the Skrull and the BAF for the wave will be the Kree Sentry unveiled a few month ago.
Medicom have released two versions of the 2001 A Space Odyssey space suit figures to date in their MAFEX line, the orange as worn by Dr David Bowman in the 1968 classic movie and the yellow suit worn by Frank Poole. Medicom have announced a re-release of these two original figures for November 2018, and joining them are two new colour variants with a Green Suit as seen in the Emergency Airlock of Discover 1, and a Blue suit as seen in the movie but never worn. "The iconic spacesuit from the classic 1968 film "2001: A Space Odyssey" joins Medicom's MAFEX action figure lineup! It's about 16cm tall, and fully posable with multiple interchangeable hand parts and a stand for anti-gravity poses. Please note that the helmet cannot be removed. Get ready to conquer space and order yours today!" All four colours are due in stores in November 2018 and expect to be paying around ÂŁ40 for these either direct from Far East (with potential custom costs on top), or via UK based stockists for a slightly higher price point.
Mezco are releasing, via Previews, a variant version of their One:12 Cyclops X-Men figure. The Previews version is the first appearance Cyclops and includes an updated X-Men tailored yellow & blue uniform as well as three different head options. These effects will be enhanced by a light up feature built into the visor. The figure also gets the usual hand assortment and an X-Men logo display stand. The Previews Exclusive Cyclops is due to hit comic book stores on May 29th 2019, and you should be able to pre-order with your local store now
Magazine images from the Far East revealed that the next MCU MAFEX 1/12 figure from Medicom will be Black Panther. After these grainy images a slew of promotional images followed from Medicom.
The figure comes accessorized with six interchangeable hands, a visor that contains a smoking effect and three interchangeable heads, including an unmasked version. As with all Mezco One:12 Collective action figures, a themed display base and adjustable posing post is included and the packaging is made for easy in-and-out of box display.
Black Panther will come with three head options - two masked with one having the white eyes, and the other showing T'Challa's eyes beneath, there is then an unmasked version. Also included are a ceremonial Wakandan blade and five sets of hands - two clenched and three with claws open in various poses. The figure is due for release in August 2019.
As we get closer to it's January 2019 release, new images of the SH Figuarts Infinity War Falcon 1/12 Action Figure have been released. This new Falcon will include two head options, one with flight goggles and one without. There will be a number of hand options and he will be armed with two Uzi type machine guns. The wings will be poseable and can be folded in and out or removed completely for a grounded l
SH Figuarts have unveiled the promotional images for their Infinity War 1/12 Mk4 War Machine figure. Rhodey will land in April 2019 to join the existing Avengers in the battle with Thanos. The figure will include numerous shoulder mounted weaponry with clip on FX pieces to simulate the firing of the shoulder cannon and the repulsor blasts from the hands and feet. There will also be a number of hand options and the new stand design with built in compartment to keep your spare parts. Sadly there is no unmasked Don Cheadle head. Pre-orders commence from 19th of October at your usual retailers. We would assume this will be picked up by Bluefin for the US market.
The Tamashii Nations Event 2018 has thrown up this new SH Figuarts Yoda figure, as seen in Revenge of the Sith. It is marked "Display Only" so there is no release date as yet, and as we've seen with other Figuarts "reveals" we could end up waiting a while for Yoda to arrive. While a Revenge of the Sith Yoda was shown at Tamashii Comic Con, this display differs greatly with a new head sculpt,
The SH Figuarts Harry Potter line of 1/12 figures launched with figures of Harry, Ron and Hermione from The Philosopher's stone. It seems the next release will be of Professor Severus Snape from the same movie after his figure was revealed at the Tamashii Nations 2018 Event in Japan. The labelling has this as a "display only" figure which indicates that a release date has not yet been confirmed or specified. Images shared by AmiAmi
Welcome to our review of the 2018 special release of this tiny two pack of Porgs, as seen in Star Wars the Last Jedi. These two adorable Porgs are scaled perfectly for the 6 inch Black Series and come in their own mini version of the Black Series packaging, complete with artwork.
With limited room for the various copyright and legal definitions the barcode slides to the bottom of the box and there is some legal text that goes up onto top section - and this is a shame as it ruins the look of the packaging as this top flap would usually be plain black.
Packaging 2/5 The Porg 2-Pack comes in a tiny version of the Black Series packaging measuring approx 8cm high, 7cm wide and 2cm depth. In context this is about a third of the usual height of a single figure box and half across (see comparison images). Despite its small size, Hasbro have replicated all the usual Black Series design content with the bold white Star Wars Black Series logo, character name in red and a mini Gregory Titus illustration. The left side spine includes the wrap round the window and the character name repeated in both red and blown up gray text. The other spine is gloss red. The Porg set is not numbered, so the usual greyed square sits where the numbering would be. Sculpt & Paint 4/5 The pack contains two different Porgs. The first of these is a static figure with a frown almost kitten like face. Considering this first Porg is less than 2cm high, there is bags of emotion in that face. The paint work is neat considering the scale with glossy black eyes and the white feathers that blend into yellow and then brown. The mouth is slightly off where the sculpt looks like it should be, but that is only noticeable if you blow this up in an image as we have.
Round the back there is not enough room for a larger version of the artwork so we go straight into a short and sweet bio about the Porgs.
"Small. Mimicking. Mischievous"
Summary The second Porg is standing with his wings out. This one is slightly taller at 2.5cm and has a differing expression - more worried than sad so perhaps Chewie is eying this one up for lunch? Painting is the same principle as the other Porg, but with a more orange tone in the feathers to add further variation. The chicken like legs are a pinky flesh colour and there is even dark claws added. Despite being so small, this Porg stands perfectly well on his own on those chicken legs. Hasbro have achieved this by ensuring the balance and weight of the figure are well distributed and its well executed considering the scale.
You can see what Disney and Lucasfilm were trying to achieve with the addition of the Porgs to The Last Jedi, introducing something that has no real plot point but that serves to drive some merchandise activity in the stores. That being said, they remain a visual part of Episode 8 and it is nice to see them on display with your Luke Skywalker or Rey. My issue is that Hasbro chose to go down the two in a pack route. As a pair they are costing you between ÂŁ6 and ÂŁ12 depending where you can find them, and that simply isn't good value or feasible for building up a bigger flock of these. I wonder how successful these might have been as a group of between 10 and 20 in a standard Black Series box for ÂŁ20?
Articulation 4/5 Believe it or not, the standing Porg does come with two points of articulation on its wings. These are plugged into the body by means of a ball socket and therefore they can be rotated and raised and lowered - independently of each other if you want. With the wings up and out the figure is still well balanced.
The packaging is disappointing if you want to leave them boxed with all that legal text on the top section, but aside from that and the price/method of release there is not much else you can criticize on these tiny two 2cm figures. I score the Porg 2-pack a 3 out of 5, and I make no apologies for dropping one point purely on the cost element.
I can't particularly think of where more articulation could be added, so scoring this element is difficult - so I have gone with a 4 out of 5 on the basis that only one of the two Porgs has any movement.
