Robby’s Nursery takes on challenge of moving
W
ell, the move is on at Robby’s Nursery. Here’s an update on our progress and some thoughts on “progress.” We are embarking on quite an adventure that is not totally welcome at this point in our lives. In our wildest dreams we never thought we would be moving, again. But, here we go! As most of you have come to know our property has been purchased for the road project at Allen and Hageman roads. We are now in the complex predicament of moving while running an ongoing business — all the while dealing with the government and road construction schedules. Sounds like fun? NOT! That being said, we are taking each day as it comes and dealing with each new challenge the best we can. Robby’s is having a big moving sale at the present time. Lots of good deals and, hopefully, less to carry across the road. Our new location will be about 300 yards to the south of our current spot at 13129 Hageman Road. The whole project is confusing but we do
have a map posted at the nursery to explain what’s taking place. We will have ample signage once we have moved to guide you to our new location. Next week the new cul-de-sac is scheduled to begin construction for access to the all new Robby’s Nursery & Calico Gardens. We’ve Gardening columnist already moved Robby’s Bonsai collection to its new home and have begun work on the new building. We are praying for some “signed plans” out of the county soon, as well. All this, while remaining optimistic that our new location can continue to serve and inspire our customers. We plan to remain open during our transition period. Come out and check out our progress.
KATHY ROBINSON
As we walk along this path of change we are excited by the thought of being able to create a new nursery. That being said, the process of dealing with the obstacles thrown our way have been quite trying and can feel quite unfair. some of our despair is probably that we have no clue as to how to deal with government, new codes and ever changing schedules. Most of this process has not made much sense — nor felt very good — but we will push on and take each day as it comes. While dealing with all these problems, it seems rumors of us closing are not helping our struggle. Well, I’m here to tell you we are moving — and Bah Humbug to the skeptics. That being said, our loyal customers have stood by us through this hard time — and we have had a great year so far. This long standing, family-owned business is not done yet. Our 49th year will NOT be our last! God willing, our grand opening will be happen just in time for the Holidays 2011 to top off this most interesting of all our years! Changes are coming and we are ready!
