A radar beacon with outstanding range has become more accessible.

During Europort 2021, Radio Holland and shipbuilder Neptune Marine signed an agreement for an extensive navigation and communication package for hull number NP-554, a trailing suction hopper dredger. Besides the equipment, Radio Holland will also manage the installation and commissioning.

Earlier this month, Radio Holland and Furuno signed distributor agreements.

“In addition to the delivery of the nav-com package, a Rhodium DP and associated sensors such as Gyro, DGPS, MRU and an anemometer are also supplied,” said Radio Holland. “Furthermore the ship will be equipped with a magnetic compass, sea radar, river radar, plotter system, echo sounder, speedlog, BNWAS, AIS, Navtex, GMDSS communication and safety equipment, a WiFi network and a Multibeam sounder.”

Radio Holland and Neptune Marine have entered into more collaborations in recent months for complete new build projects.

Radar beacon benefits

A radar beacon with outstanding range has become more accessible.

The HEKLEO-2XSR Radar Beacon (RACON) is now available as a standard option through Sealite.

Sealite said: “The racon offers a line-of-sight range that can be greater than 15NM. This racon is ideal for National Authorities, or Port and Harbour Authorities requiring IALA CAT 1 Aids to Navigation.”

IP67 rated, compliant to IMO/IALA regulations and suitable for harsh marine and offshore environments, the HEKLEO-2XSR RACON is a frequency agile dual band radar beacon operating on marine S band and X band frequencies.
