Eastern Cape
EASTERN CAPE REGION
Intle Run
By Nikiforos Georgiou
The open road… what a joy that is with an ‘Old Mercedes’. And what’s better than one Mercedes? Two Mercedes’!
The Eastern Cape region had one of their outings in the month of October to Intle Botique Hotel just outside Port Elizabeth. This gave all participating members a chance to subject their old dames to a nice burn. We had with us a 450SLC, Pagoda, 190E, W124, CL500, CLK500 and three 108’s.
The open road was lovely with the perfect weather, giving us all that urge to push our cars a little harder than we normally do. All the vehicles purred like magic, no issues of course as we were all in Mercedes Benzes!
The venue was beautiful. We had an awesome view of the green pastures and sea from the deck of the restaurant. In the distance we could even see giraffes on the peaks of the hills - a magical view. There’s something special about old car runs along the Garden Route… especially when it’s in a threepointed star.
Komga Agricultural Show
By Erald Hohls
It was Komga Agricultural Show time again recently and although this is a small 3-day Eastern Cape agricultural show, it was very well supported by many from East London and the surrounding areas.
There were cattle and sheep displays, as well as livestock sales, and many other activities that kept the local interest going. Among others this included a number of craft and excellent food stalls, live music, kids’ fun area and dealers of new vehicles, tractors and implements.
The Eastern Cape region of the Mercedes-Benz Club has supported this show many times over the years and this time it was really well attended.
A few of our Club members drove out to Komga, 55km from East London, to support the locals there by doing an arena drive in our classic cars. The Harley Davidson Club also came out with a few classic bikes. All-in all it was a great (and warm) day out, enjoyed by everyone.
