Destination: Mercersburg Kick off Summer 2019 with four days of fun! From Thursday, June 6, to Sunday, June 9, the campus is all yours. Your reunion committee has helped the school plan a one-of-a-kind weekend that offers something for everyone. Classes ending in 4 or 9 will celebrate their reunions, and all Mercersburg alumni, their guests, and friends of the school are invited to attend.

Come for the entire weekend! All-inclusive packages are available at early-bird rates before May 1:

5th Reunion class - $100/person (a savings of $215) 50th Reunion and Loyalty Club classes - $200/person (a savings of $115) All other reunion classes - $265/person (a savings of $50) These packages include three nights of dorm lodging (one bed in a double-occupancy room), campus activities, meals, and alcoholic/ nonalcoholic beverages. (Additional fees will apply for singleoccupancy lodging, off-campus activities, and childcare.) If dorm lodging isn’t your thing, a list of local accommodations can be found on the reunion web page. Can’t make it on Thursday? Check the online registration form for a la carte pricing.

Antietam National Battlefield 10 a.m. ($35)

Join battlefield expert Jeff Driscoll ’68 and faculty emeritus Ray Larson for a private guided tour of Antietam, site of the bloodiest battle in all of American history. Transportation and boxed lunch included.

Whitetail Golf Resort 11 a.m. ($35)

Whitetail is among the highest rated golf courses in the Mid-Atlantic. Join head golf coach Doug Smith and get your foursome together for a nine-hole scramble. Nine holes of golf, cart, transportation, and boxed lunch included.

Knob Hall Winery 2:30 p.m. ($15)

Knob Hall is a family estate winery producing high-quality wines from vineyards maintained in the tradition of sustainable agriculture. Dick Seibert ’69 (the winery’s owner/operator) and his daughter, Stephanie ’09, will lead a tour. Wine tasting, vineyard tour, and transportation included.

Friday, June 7 • 2 p.m. “A Life of Perseverance: Picking Ourselves Up Off the Mat” Col. (ret.) Robert Naething ’74, P ’01 Robert Naething, as a member of the Secretary of the Army’s Senior Executive Service, serves as the Deputy to the Commanding General of United States Army North (Fifth Army), which is responsible for the land defense of North America and conducts homeland-defense operations and disaster-relief efforts in support of civil authorities. Naething leads U.S. Army North’s strategic planning and has personnel, budgetary, and logistical responsibilities. He provides daily command oversight of Fort Sam Houston (the Army’s second-largest installation) in San Antonio, Texas. Naething sits on a number of Department of the Army boards and has led Department of Defense efforts in support of wounded warriors and transitioning service members. Bob graduated from the U.S. Army War College and retired from the Army as a colonel in 2011 after 32 years of service. He has led troops in combat zones, deployed to five different continents, and taught history at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Bob and his late wife, Chris, raised three children (including Rick ’01). Bob and his wife, Cindy, enjoy spending time with “a whole herd” of grandchildren.

Saturday, June 8 • 1 p.m. “The Lowe Down” Rebecca Lowe ’99 Rebecca Lowe has served as the lead studio host of NBC’s coverage of Premier League football (a.k.a. soccer) since 2013, and has covered three different Olympiads for the network: the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, and PyeongChang, South Korea, respectively, as well as the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She previously worked for ESPN UK, where she co-hosted that network’s Premier League and FA Cup coverage and was a member of the main ESPN broadcast team for the 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany. Lowe has also worked for the BBC and Setanta Sports in her native England. In 2013, Sports Illustrated named her “Newcomer of the Year” in its annual Media Awards.

Rebecca’s session at Reunion Weekend will be based on her new YouTube show “The Lowe Down,” and features Director of Athletics Rick Hendrickson P ’03, ’06, ’19 as moderator. She and her husband, former English soccer player and coach Paul Buckle, are the parents of a son, Edward.

Class Tents: Your Headquarters on Campus Every reunion class will have a tent on the quad: a place to hang out with classmates, strum a guitar, and page through old copies of the KARUX. Your reunion committee will lead the charge on decorating, and a panel of judges will award the coveted class cup for best tent on Saturday night. Bragging rights are at stake!

Legacy Campout While you’re attending your class dinner and dance on Saturday evening, your kids or grandkids (ages 7-14) can enjoy dinner, games, music, s’mores, and an overnight campout on back campus. Sponsored by Mercersburg Summer Programs, it’s the perfect introduction to Mercersburg—free of charge! mercersburg.edu/legacycampout

Quad Games Enjoy a game of KanJam, some bean bag toss, or an old-fashioned sack race. Don’t forget your Frisbee or football!

Childcare Childcare up to 12 years of age is provided by nearby First United Daycare on Thursday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 11 p.m. The fee of $25 per child (per evening) includes dinner and snacks.

Family-Friendly Dorm You may select a dorm accommodation designated for families with young children, providing the option of a kid-friendly environment.
