Our Commitment
Mercury, its Board, leadership and people are committed to the safety and health of everyone we work with. Health and safety always comes first. It is a team game and depends on us all working together in trusted partnership towards our shared goal of zero harm. We are committed to excellence in the management of our work environment, and procedures to provide for the safety and health of all our team and surrounding communities.

strive to be the best and champion a world class attitude to health and safety management. look out for ourselves and our colleagues, by identifying and appropriately managing existing and new workplace hazards and risks. proactively report near miss incidents so we can learn and take action to avoid future harm. ensure we always come to work fit and capable of doing our jobs safely.

lead by example, with a personal commitment to looking after everyone working at our work places and anyone on Mercury business. listen to our employees and contractors, and involve them in managing safety and health. Great ideas can come from anyone. take responsibility for safety at our work places while empowering our people to make considered safety choices. ensure that all our employees have the skills and knowledge to be effective and safe in the work they undertake. through asking, listening, understanding and acting, we will grow our safety culture towards our goal of zero harm: continuously improving systems, procedures and the way we work.

provide a healthy and safe environment where we work. do all it can to ensure that all employees, contractors and visitors understand and follow Mercury’s health and safety procedures. participate where we can to add value in industry-wide and country-wide discussion to increase the effectiveness of legislation, and comply with all relevant legislative requirements and industry standards. Strive to ensure public safety, where the public has access to our workplaces and assets.
Who this applies to
This policy applies to anyone who undertakes work for Mercury, including employees and contractors as well as visitors to our work places and where Mercury is carrying out work. At Mercury, health and safety is paramount and any behaviour that is not consistent with this policy will be treated seriously.
